About
In just an hour you can visit the most interesting places in the old town and in the Umbertino village. Our slogan is "the best way to visit the city of two seas". In fact, it often happens that you are just passing through our capital, you stop only for a few hours, a fleeting meal and you are disappointed to have noticed a beautiful city but that for reasons of time we did not linger as it would have deserved because the territory is quite extensive, what better opportunity then to speed up everything by spending a pleasant hour letting yourself be guided aboard a nice Calessino bee? Seeing is believing.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- _K40UG0 contributionsIt is a must!!Vitoria was the best tour guide! She was very kind, helpful and humorous! It’s critical to take this tour when you arrive at town in order to arrange your schedule.Written August 18, 2024
- paulthomasofficial0 contributionsA must-do in Taranto!Let me first start with that this tour is a must-do in Taranto. Gianni, the owner, is very kind and extremely flexible. I had to change the day and time of the tour but he made it happen. My tour guide was Francesco. I couldn’t have wished for a better tour guide. He is from Taranto and that adds value to the tour. He showed me interesting places and told me facts that I did not know, even while reading the tourist guides. This tour and Francesco’s enthusiasm made my stay in Taranto amazing. I believe I should come back to Taranto to do another tour. Thank you guys, you are amazing. I highly recommend this tour.Written March 11, 2023

- matthewbY2343IN0 contributionsPleasant SurpiseI had no idea this even existed, though I wish I had. It is about an hour long tour around the city providing opportunity to stop and enter all the major sites. I had Roberto and the tour was in English. 5-stars. I'm glad I saw these driving around an inquired. The price is also fantastic!Written September 28, 2020
- Martinadvd0 contributionsGemma is the best!!!This tour is the best ever!! The little tuk tuks were perfect to zoom around the beautiful, busy streets. I lived here for 8 years and Gemma taught me so much about Taranto that I didn’t know about?!! She was so kind and was able to give my sister and me a tour in English! She drove very safely through the narrow streets of Italy and was able to show us all the hidden and historical buildings and museums of old Taranto. We love you Gemma and we’ll definitely do the tour again next time we come!!😁Written August 31, 2019
- pakkason0 contributionsWe had a great time! They gave us a ride through the whole city. There were the 8 of us and everyone enjoyed it so much! The guys in the calessinos spoke English really well, they knew everything about Taranto. It wasn’t even expensive. So we spent some quality time with them! Totally recommend!Written July 15, 2019
- Guide334823740630 contributionsTour of tarantoWe had an excellent tour of old Town taranto and some of the new town. Our guide took us into some very narrow lanes which we would not have seen on our own. He was very informative with decent English. There were taped English sections as well. He ended the tour taking us to a restaurant near to where we parked our car. Well worth the 30 euro fee.Written June 25, 2019
- Kmlonghi0 contributionsGreat service and experienceOriginally we’d wanted to have a tour of the castle. Finding it closed and the next tour not for an hour, we hopped in a tuk tuk and had a great tour around the old town and new town. We were 2 couples in 2 tuk tuks and the 2 drivers did a great job making us feel like we were on the same tour. Very knowledgeable guides and an overall great experience.Written May 24, 2019
- Lupe11690 contributionsGood value for money! We met Carlo at the castle and joined him for a trip through Taranto after we had lunch. He was very good in explaing and we got a very good overwiew about the town and it's history. He started the explanation in good English and we finished it in Italian - the explanations were very good, in which language ever. Join him and you will have a nice tour through the town.Written May 21, 2019

Wondering what to do in Taranto when you step off your cruise ship? We did this!
We booked online 3 days beforehand. Communication was good; although they agreed to pick us up at the port it wasn't possible on the day, so they messaged last minute where to meet (the town square where the port shuttle bus dropped us off ). I'm calling it a tuktuk but it's a bit like a hybrid milk float - something fun and a bit different! A great way to get an overview of the old town and find out about the history and you also get a tour of the newer part of town. Andrea was our guide and he was very good, though sometimes it was difficult to catch what he said above the noise of the tuktuk/other traffic. I'm not sure his mic was very effective. He stopped off to allow us to have a quick look at an old church and paused to take photographs. We discovered that one of the specialities of the area is mussels which are farmed on ropes in the 'small sea'. I asked Andrea if he could recommend a seafood restaurant which he did, and he dropped us off there at the end of the 1-hour tour where we spent an enjoyable lunch. We thought the tour was money well spent and we covered more ground than we would have done exploring on foot.

Very pleasant experience; our guide, a very kind, friendly, smiling and very knowledgeable girl, stopped to collect us on the seafront, saving us the effort of reaching the tour starting point, indicated on the website, under the sun. We requested to only do the old city, as we didn't have enough time available. The guide, who speaks English very well, did his utmost in artistic-historical explanations, to better make us appreciate the area and its hidden beauties. Since the tour includes various stops at the main points of interest. It should be done in reverse, that is, starting from the Doric columns, ending with the last buildings, facing the Mar Piccolo, in fact the chronological historical order has always made the enjoyment of the narrative simpler. Anyway; if you find the girl as a guide, I highly recommend it for something different to do in Taranto.

We took the tour led by Sara, a very young guide and native Taranto native, who accompanied us to this city rich in history. He alternated anecdotes with history, showing us majestic palaces and churches, but also equally characteristic hidden corners. I rediscovered a city that I already knew from a new point of view that really enriched me. Excellent visit

Thanks to Alessandra, a very young but passionate guide from Taranto, we visited the magnificent city of Taranto. With two small children it was the right choice to discover all the highlights of the city and learn more about its history and legends.
Absolutely recommended as a tour.

We arrived in Taranto following "The route of the two seas" and took advantage of a free hour to take a ride with the bee. Andrea, the very polite and knowledgeable driver, took us around Taranto old and new, not failing to let his passion for the city and its culture shine through. Definitely worth trying for a quick and very pleasant appetizer from the town. Thank you

It was a nice tour of about an hour in my hometown I had on Sunday 08/10 with the very nice and kind Ape Car driver guide Gianluca.
If not necessary for me to translate into English some history of the monuments visited for my partner, I would certainly have given it 5 stars.
In any case, an excellent tourist initiative by my fellow citizens.
Taranto should focus and expand the tourism attractions and services to strengthen the city's name and economy.
Bravi!

Very interesting city with contrasts between the old (some very poor areas) and the new (mostly civic buildings etc.)
Did the one hour+ Tuc-Tuc tour which we booked online in advance. English speaking driver gave detailed history and info. Tours start from just across the road from the castle and return here. Highly recommended.
If you're off a cruise ship, you'll need to get a local bus into town -couple of euros, ten minute journey

Great little trip around old and new Taranto! We had booked 2 tuk tuks as we are a family of 4 and the kids had fun swapping between the tuk tuks. We managed to stop and see the inside the main churches and a few of the sites for photos. Would recommend this tour if you want to save your feet and enjoy the ride!
