With the tour will begin at our headquarters in Strada Vallisa 81 in Bari Vecchia . From here, your expert guide will take you to the old part of the city where you will visit the ancient Basilica of San Nicola and the Norman Castle. Afterwards, you will move to the Basilica of San Nicola to visit the church and its wonderful crypt where the relics of the saint are kept. The tour then continues through the characteristic alleys of the historic center where the old ladies still prepare by hand the orecchiette outdoors. Your trip ends with a visit to the modern part of the city with its theatres, shopping streets, the famous promenade, the fish market and squares where you can taste one of our typical Apulian products, subject to availability.

      Excellent tour!
We had an excellent small group walking tour with Pala. Her knowledge was excellent and was so interesting to hear her personal story about her parents being evicted from the Sassi in the 1950s.

Going through the motions and lacking the usual Italian charm
We are unsure why the reviews on Tripadvisor for this tour are so positive. We arrived at the tour offices in town at the appointed time. There was another couple waiting and a man behind the desk. We explained that we had booked the tour. There was no real interaction or conversation from the man who got up and said we were going to the car. As it transpired, he was the driver. During the short trip (approx. 20 mins) to the site he didn’t say a word. We got out of the car at the site and he led us down some stairs to the entrance, without saying anything. At this point we had no clue what was going on. After waiting about 5 minutes, more people arrived and so did the guide. Although the guide spoke both English and Italian, he didn’t actually provide any commentary or explanation of the crypt. He simply turned on an Italian pre-recorded audio guide and provided small electronic audio guides with earphones to the non-Italian speakers so we could listen in English. The ‘tour’ consisted of sitting on the rocks in the cave listening to a pre-recorded audio guide. The actual guide did answer a few questions at the end. The whole experience lasted about 30 minutes. The crypt is definitely worth seeing but the tour is certainly not worth the money (EUR 135.00). No photos are allowed to be taken inside the crypt. We found the experience impersonal and out of character with the warm Italian welcome and friendliness we normally find. The guide and driver were really just going through the motions. It should be noted that you are required to pay for 3 people as a minimum number. Despite there being another couple on the tour we did not get any refund so can only assume they also paid for 3 people. A nice profit for the tour company. Try another tour company if you want to visit the crypt.

Nature has returned a quarry to its natural beauty
When the bauxite quarry was abandoned, nature took over and created an emerald-colored lake which is captivating by its beauty. The cave itself contains dark red rocky walls colored by the aluminum minerals in the Bauxite rock. The trails remind one of walking on mars due to its red sand dunes.

Discover how mozzarella is made, quasi hands on
The overall tour was very well structured and managed very well by Daniela a young lady speaking very well English (and French). It was super interesting and we could really understand how Mozzarella is done from cow to plate. The lunch basket that was part of the package was ok. What wasn’t nice is the fact that the groups are made of 20 persons (we were actually 25 since a family joined last minute) and consequently it was definitely too much: we could hardly hear the explanations, we could not all enter in the different rooms, we were tight … that is a pity. 15 should be the max to enjoy fully the tour.

      Engaging visit to Matera
We appreciated the visit to Sassi di Matera, led by the guide Giuseppe, who told us the history of his town from the poverty up to these very successful times, leaving nothing unsaid, pleasant or not.

      Matera guided walking tour
The tour was well planned, very interesting and had a gret pace. The guide, Luigi, is insightful and knowledgeable, and delivered just the right amount of information without being overwhelming, and gladly asked any questions we had. We had a great time and strongly recommend this tour of the sassi

The added value of the trip
Thanks to the hotel’s suggestion, I took a guided tour of this beautiful city. The guide was extremely prepared and very friendly, the tour took about 3 hours through the entire old town, great experience, it totally worth the reasonable price. Highly recommended!

      Humoristic guide elevates the experience
Matera is a breath taking city. Also literally; lot’s of stairs have to be climbed - but it is worth the effort. Even in November Sassi is teaming with visitors, although on a Monday a lot of restaurants were closed.

Fun tour about the history of Matera
We did a 2.5 hour guided tour through Matera, which included a visit to a Sassi as it used to be historically. The check in point for the tour is easy to find and the group was small (about 15 people), making it a very nice tour. Big shout out to our tour guide Anna, who made this experience amazing. She took us on a trip through the history of Matera with a lot of enthusiasm and humor. She answered any questions that were asked and made the time we spend together fly by.

Nice views but way too expensive for what it is. Avoid.
Very interesting location BUT very, very, very short for the price paid. Honestly I was expecting much more. The driver/guide did his best and was extremely professional. I would not recommend this tour for the price I paid 85 Euro/each people, a total steal.

The 2hr tour consisted of 35 min waiting for late arrivals, 23 min self guiding around churches, 10min eating pizza and 10 min with a local musician at the end (they also required paying!). So only 42 min tour. The guide was nice and the musician entertaining. I did not get much of a feel for progression through history of the town. At 30+ euros a head I did not think it was good value

My main criticism is that it's never a good idea to offer a two-language tour. The tour company seems well-populated enough to be able to offer a separate tour for each language group. This resulted in waiting around while the guide had to speak to one group in Italian and then repeat for the English group. I feel it would have been a better experience.

We had an amazing walking tour in Bari with our guide Chiara. It was very informative and we enjoyed learning about the old towns history. A highlight was trying to famous Focaccia and seeing the ladies making pasta. Chiara was very knowledgeable and helpful in answering our questions. We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bari for the first time.

Anna Rita was an amazing guide! We learned a lot about Bari Bari (old town) but we walked up front in the group and asked a lot of questions, so it was good. If you were further back in the group (there were 18 people) you wouldn’t have heard much. The tour company really needs to invest in headsets! Would augment the information part of the tour.
Also, it was an English tour, but there was one couple that was either Italian or Spanish and kept asking questions and talking in Italian or Spanish. Anna Rita was gracious and answered them in the same language, but she could have strongly suggested that this was an English tour, and that she would only speak English. One can learn many things from other questions asked and the answers. They should have taken an Italian or Spanish tour if they didn’t want to hear English, but the tour guide should also be firm on this.
Great tour otherwise and Anna Rita’s English was very good!!

Very very light content for the price paid; departure 3:15 p.m. end 4:45 p.m., for a given duration of 2 hours. Including the ice cream stop and the musical episode, nothing historic.
The guide is certainly friendly but that is not enough.

very interesting two-hour visit of old Bari together with Chiara, friendly and knowledgeable, group of 6 people and although the tour was with 2 girls who spoke Spanish, we didn't miss anything, in fact while she explained in Spanish we could wander around independently and vice versa. They provided us with water in a cardboard container and the tasting of an excellent ice cream. Finale at the Castle with a visit to the street of the ladies making earrings then the music show in the street in which we all participated.
