Started late. Combined a German walking tour with our food /walking tour for part of tour. Guide was sweet but not very informative. Very, very sparse food. Thimble size glass of wine. We have been on many food tours in various cities and this was by far the worst. The fact that it was $60 per person made it even worse. Would strongly discourage anyone from taking it. They should be embarrassed.

Dear customer, we are really surprised as well as disappointed for your feedback. Your harsh comment is only number 9 of 1.630 great reviews we got in 12 years experience. It really sounds like somebody who’s looking for a free experience asking a total refund once he gets the best.
About the tour:
Yes, we were just 4 minutes late because we gave all our customers maps, bottle of water, brief before starting.
Thanks God you said « Guide was sweet » and we are totally able to guarantee she is also professional, licensed and expert. Maybe you were expecting a proper dinner but we offer different tastings, exactly as it is written in the tour description including two glasses of local wine Primitivo. Furthermore, we offered an extra tasting of fried food for free.
So you had 5 tasting in 5 local spot!!
Although the price is 40 euro per person and some people consider it little for what we offer: it’s just an opinion.
While you discourage taking it, the STREET FOOD TOUR BARI is our best seller and we are very proud of what we do. Arrivederci.

We like food tours but this one was not great at all. It was really a history walk which went very slowly around churches mainly, the information about which is widely available online and in guide books. We stopped at an old focaccia place and had a slice, which was lovely, but every other tour in Bari was in there buying slices and focaccia is hardly an unusual food. “Pasta Street” is an awful tourist trap these days. There was also an embarrassing episode with a local musician where we had to stand and play an “instrument” along with him - he was just searching for tips and frankly we’re not children. Then after 2 hours few of us who had paid extra had 3 stops for some food. The first at a deli comprised of a tiny glass of wine with some nice slices of local salami type meat, a small piece of cheese and 2 olives. The next shop was at what I can only describe as a fast food joint where we were bought a deep fried mozzarella & tomato sauce pasty - junk food at its worst, really unhealthy and not something I’d ever choose to eat. Finally a gelato place off the main square, hardly a hidden gem and nothing special. We saw no food markets and learnt nothing that anyone who knows Italian food and has travelled doesn’t know already. This tour bore no relation to advertised description. Such a shame as food tours can be the best thing we ever do in a new town. This isn’t a criticism of our guide who was very nice and doing his best, it’s the itinerary he had to follow that’s at fault. My last comment would be that it wasn’t even cheap, had it been I wouldn’t be complaining here.

Dear Suzanne, we are sorry for your bad review, but your opinion which seems very inaccurate to us. You mentioned our "lovely" focaccia from Bari and the "very nice" guide.
If you didn't like the atmosphere of the tourist city and some of the fried foods that are part of the local tradition, we invite you to try a new experience: we also offer bike, segway and boat tours.
We hope to see you again soon, have a nice day!

Check out the review from Suzanne Baron and that's exactly our experience. The faces in our group got longer and longer as we got more and more disappointed. Not our idea of heaven. Been on waaay better food tours. Yes, as Suzanne said, the whole musician thing was indeed embarrassing. Nice guy, but I don't want to be touted for more $$ in the middle of something I've already paid for. The pasta ladies is VERY touristy. I appreciate you can't miss it out, but it would have been good to be told that it's very touristy. The guide wanted us to shout 'let's go' in Barinese every time we moved off .. yeah. No. That didn't happen. And we walked past lots of street food vendors making all sorts of intersting fried snacks and our guide didn't even mention it. They may have been pop up for the holiday, but this is a food tour... tell us what it is even if it's not on the itinerary. And the women in the piazza cooking 'out of their own kitchens' ... we had to ask what that was. We got two or three dismissive sentences and that was that. The guide didn't seem to be a passionate foodie... she was just taking us through the things she was expected to. At one point we asked her a question and her answer was demonstrably wrong! Many other things: Standing on the street balancing a small plate of food and a plastic beaker of wine isn't really much fun - we needed to go somewhere we could sit down. Even if it was in a piazza. And there was a cock up with someone who was signed into the tour but not for the food, so we had a history tour and then this person was told to leave us and we then crammed the food into the final hour. In the meantime, we're all walking along thinking 'why are we getting history, where's the food?' and as it was a day when the hour had changed we were STARVING by the time any food turned up. If we'd been told that person was booked onto the wrong tour and that our tour had been unilaterally re-jigged because of it we'd have probably all clubbed together to pay her extra $$ and then we'd all get what WE had paid for. So: in short, not what we had expected, not a food tour, no passionate food interest in the guide. All in all.. disappointing.

This was not a food tour. It was a snapshot tour of Bari and its churches with food thrown in as an afterthought.
We walked past amazing food stalls, people cooking fried polenta dumplings and not a mention was made of these. First food stop was to queue jump locals waiting for the not so hidden focaccia, and then we waited another 2 hours before tasting another morsel of food. Given that the tour started at 11 I had hoped to eat some food before 1 pm. It turns out that we were on a history tour of Bari with the food bit tagged on at the end. As the one history tour participant was summarily dismissed 90 minutes into the tour we were then shunted into a deli and had a plate of meat and cheese with a couple of olive on paper plates and a thimble full of wine with a very brief description of what we were eating. We then were marched to a fast food cafe for a pasty of some sort. Finally an ice-cream, sorry gelato on the main square. Not a hidden gem. During the tour we were forced to join in with a street musician, hey I got the triangle, and then expected to tip him. We were then pointed in the direction of pasta alley which is now just a tourist trap, and had to squeeze past a group of men in the entrance to the street who were having a beer fuelled street party.
Our guide was disinterested in food. It felt as it was purely a tick box tour, where we had an option to look at churches and eat second rate food. This tour does not do justice to the wonderful food and wine that is available in Bari. Walking food tours can be a great opportunity to learn about the history and culture of a region. This was not such a tour.
It is not a cheap tour either.
Also to be asked to chant 'let's go' each time we moved on to the next point of interest was juvenile. Read your group. There were six adults on this tour, not school children.

I will start by saying I hate to write negative reviews, but after the response to a below commenter, I had to share that I had the exact same experience as the commenter. My husband and I signed up for a Bari street food tour, 2 people minimum required. We arrived and were not placed on a Bari street food tour, but on a joint tour of a historical Bari tour, a pasta making experience tour, and our food tour (which was not really a food tour at all). The tour was done in two languages and different parts of the tour dropped off at different times (the history people post the historical walking tour, the pasta making people after we made pasta, etc.). It was really disjointed and clear that the company accepted whoever made a booking and just made it work by combining tours. We only had 3 stops on our street food tour and left hungry. I have been on over 50 food tours across the world and this is the only one I have left hungry. It was also annoying because neither my husband nor I like to cook, so during the pasta making class, the two "cooking class" tourists had all the attention and we just sat back and watched. I also booked a morning tour online and the day before I received a message that the tour was starting in the late afternoon. Luckily, my phone worked in Italy. Proceed with caution if booking with this company.

Dear Fleming, yours it is a very severe judgment: our street food tour is considered by tourists among "the best activities to do in the city" even according to the same Tripadvisor.
On that day, our expert guide hosted 7 people (including you two) because we always prefer to have small groups and dedicate the utmost care and attention to the customer. The management of the experience was in english and since two of the group were italian, in the notes it was preferred to comment in their mother language (which the other participants greatly appreciated).
About the food, there are 4 tastings in 4 different points of the old town which as a whole represent a real substitute of lunch or dinner (no one has ever been dissatisfied with the quantity even if we are not at the restaurant).
Anyway, our tour is aimed at discovering culture, people and flavors, but in the end we almost always become friends. We hope to see you again soon, have a nice day!

Me and my wife went today on a food tour with Velo Tours. It was a very interesting experience as we had the opportunity to try local delicacies whilst getting an insight on the local heritage and history. Giada - our tour guide was very helpful. I would really recommend his tour to anyone who is interested to know a bit more about the history of Bari whilst taking an idea of the local food.

The first stop of the tour is Piazza del Ferrarese, the beating heart of Bari Vecchia. From here, Annarita accompanied us through the alleys of the old town, making us feel as if we were walking back in time. A perfect mix of historical anecdotes, local legends and modern curiosities that keep you glued to every word. Very good food.

In Bari, a street food tour with Federico is highly recommended for an immersive experience. Federico provides fascinating insights into the city's culture and history. However, the portions might not be enough to fill you up, so it's a good idea to have a small meal before or plan to eat afterward. Enjoy your culinary adventure in Bari!

We did originally book the walking tour, but this was changed to a cycling tour due to the numbers not being there and in short, I am so pleased it was.
Firstly, I am not a super confident cyclist. Built more for comfort than sports. So I am going to write the review from this perspective.
Overall it was a really great experience and we both enjoyed it. Myself and husband both got a bit of flavour of the city and food. Food was delicious, we had some nice stops.
The day was super hot and the bike brought a nice breeze. The tour ended up being a bit rushed at the end, which was a bit of a shame as the tour guide was great.
Top tips -
1. Don’t eat breakfast or have a small one (if you are doing the morning tour)
2. Take extra water, drink drink drink.
3. Wear light clothing, I wore a shorter dress and was pretty comfortable, the bikes are the ‘sit up and beg style’
There is only was small gradient up by the fortress, but that was easy enough (remember I’m built for comfort haha).
The streets are narrow, I did have to hop off and walk at some points as I was generally fearful I would have taken people out.
Cycling on the road wasn’t to bad, but the guide was quite a fast cyclist, I wasn’t sure if I should follow or ignore the road rules they only seemed to apply half the time 😖. Which I am told in Italy is the norm!
