About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- paulrV4300GD0 contributionsGreat experienceGreat way to see Venice. Friendly chatty oarsman with plenty of knowledge. So much better than sharing with people you don't knowWritten March 16, 2024
- carolebO5217SC0 contributionsVery pleased. We were lucky, we didn’t book a private gondola ride but ended up being on our own. The gondolier pointed out places of interest and the gondola was lovely. Really enjoyed our ride through the narrow canals, under bridges, including going under the bridge of sighs. We paid €100 which we queried because others had said €80 but we were told the cost also took into account which canals you ride on.Written August 18, 2023
- juliefG2975PD0 contributionsBuy when you get thereWe paid more for the night ride, but the latest was 8 and it was not dark at all by that time. I would suggest just finding a gondolier that you like when you are there and just buying then.Written July 28, 2023
- 636meaghanh0 contributionsWhen in Venice.....A must do experience in Venice. We had a private gondola but you can also share with others. We went at 7pm which I would recommend as it started to cool down from the hot day. It was relaxing and I wish was a little bit longer. The gondola guide was lovely, telling us some interesting facts along the way and posing in our photos. A lovely memory!Written July 18, 2023
- Trail399362869240 contributionsSave your money! This was horrible. Our gondolier talked to everyone but us.No info or any thing interesting. There is a ton of them looking for work .Better to go there and find someone with a personality.Written May 27, 2023
- KellyV21590 contributions80€ is the officila priceDon't book.. not here and not with GETYOURGUIDE Don't book this, it's a scam. I was stupid to book, should have searched online first, the official price is 80€ for a boat. Beside that it's not 30 minutes, it was only 20 and the gondeleer didn't even say a word. No singing, no explination. Really feel ripped off.Written May 17, 2023
- 464joey0 contributions***AVOID AT ALL COSTS**^Booked this via Marriott Activities and now realize just how egregiously overpriced it really was. As others have noted, you can find multiple similar gondola rides for a 1/3 of the price anywhere near the water. The bottle of Prosecco they bring you is $8 at the store and isn’t even cold. Also, our “ride” lasted 15 minutes instead of the advertised 30. I’m sure the latter depends on company and gondola operator but, at this price point, it’s completely unacceptable. Go by a couple nice bottles of cava or champagne and take a cheaper ride elsewhere.Written April 20, 2023
- nicholashK4968ZA0 contributionsAmazing experience! Well worth the $$Great experience on mine and my husband's 20th anniversary. We paid for the gondola to be just us. We brought drinks aboard to celebrate. Magical time.Written April 12, 2023
- ethancL4083AN0 contributionsCharmedIt was great and the tour guide was very friendly. He was very understanding of hurrying us to a bathroom towards the end when my weak American stomach failed me.Written March 22, 2023
- n0rairg0 contributionsA one of a kind city worth seeing Once.Venice has some very beautiful parts and is definitely a bucket list item. the gondola tour also a bucket list thing but generally don't expect the movie experience. it felt like the romance had been swapped out to the transactional.Written October 16, 2022
- PaulK61770 contributionsThe best startWe took the Gondola and Prosecco tour the next morning after arriving the night before. In my opinion this is the best way to start a visit to Venice, Italy. Great wine, amazing views and iconic gondola. What else is there?Written October 6, 2022
- x10sjr0 contributionsVast overpriced. We knew this was expensive but at 200€ it was ridiculous. Our 30 minute trip around the block did include a bottle of Prosecco on the boat but since then we found other gondola trips advertised for 80€. No prosecco but for 120€ we could have bought a couple of bottles of Champagne.Written September 28, 2022
- apass930 contributionsAn experience you have to doAn experience you have to do but there isn't really any need to pre-book as there are so many and they are always available. Our guide was friendly and gave us snippets of information on several landmarks. We entered the grand canale and saw Rialto Bridge to our right but only for several seconds before we headed away and then back down the narrow waters. Overall its an expensive experience but one I would say is just about worth it.Written September 22, 2022
- RAEHILLY19700 contributionsGreat way to kickoff our tripDespite the seemingly hectic and disorganized gondola "station" we were on time and on our way enjoying the canals with a bottle of cold prosecco.Written September 17, 2022
- binalara0 contributionsLovely ride, but not as long as paid forWe went for this provider as lots of others had more negative feedback. Unfortunately, our experience only confirmed what only a few others had said about this one. The gondola ride only lasted about 20 minutes, even though it was supposed to take 30 mins (one third less!). Those 20 minutes were lovely and we really enjoyed the experience, but it just leaves a niggling after-taste if you feel taken advantage of. We knew the whole experience is very poor value for money and just one of those things you have to accept. But negotiating the price with the gondolieri on the day might have been better (we didn't want to run the risk of having to wait or not getting a ride and hence pre-booked here).Written September 14, 2022

A gondola ride is a MUST. It was so beautiful!! You get to explore Venice in another perspective, riding thru the canals. Pablo was amazing and so friendly. He was great in explaining important historical buildings and just the history behind Venice as well. We did the hour long ride and it was incredible, glad we did that instead of the 30 mins.

An amazing experience. From the gondola you can see the other side of Venice - the quiet and small canals. I definitely recommend the gondola ride, which includes a tour of the smaller canals, in addition to the large canal. Our gondolier was a very kind man who told us about the sights we passed.

Decent enough but not worth price. If you are thinking about a Gondola NOT in peak season, I would just get one from a canal without pre-booking. Pretty steep charge compared to other boats and only 25 minutes on the Gondola itself. If you are going to Venice during peak season, I would say the price could be worth it because you are getting to skip lines. Guide barely gave us any information but showed us side streets that are meant for locals. Okay experience but could probably find one better.

We were afraid of long lines and splurged a little by reserving a private gondola instead of just showing up. Wish we hadn't!!! The operator was serving a massive tour group at the same time as our appointment and even though we arrived early, we had to sit there and wait as boat after boat came and left without us. Should have just canceled and walked away. For this we paid a premium?! The locally regulated prices are well below this online rate and we saw plenty of gondoliers available to pick up walk ins as we walked around Venice so never again.

We choose the 1-hour private gondola ride, and the extra time was worth it I suppose. Granted if we had gone to a gondola station it would have been cheaper and we wouldn't have started off on the Grand Canal which was quite choppy. As it was high tide, we were not able to sit together on the main seat (so not as romantic as I thought it would be) because the front of the gondola was too high to get under the low bridges. The bonus being I got many pictures of my other half on the seat in front.
On the downside our Gondola was quite shabby (if we would have booked it there, we could have chosen one) and the Gondolier hardly spoke to us but a lot in Italian to the other gondoliers. Didn't make us feel special which we had expected for the money we paid. Not an experience I will ever repeat. Though Venice from a gondola is beautiful and peaceful.

I paid $280 US and could of purchased the one hour gondola ride for 160 euro. The operator barely spoke any English which we were told we would have an English speaker. For the price, there was nothing more special than if I had just walked up to the line and purchased the tickets at the service counter.

We loved the serenade during our beautiful gondola ride sung by Marcella. His voice was breathtaking!! The 3 men took very good care of us and all the other riders wished they were on ours. It was a very memorable experience. Thank you to another reviewer for giving advice on how to find the ticket office to check in for the ride. Look for the Allilaguna sign.

Very relaxing and great guide but not worth the money at all. I would also book in person so you could bargain and get a better deal.
We only did a 30 minute ride and the canals we went through were nothing special and there wasn’t much to see.

Our gondolier spoke very little English. Only one word explanations of where we were, and no history of the area. We saw another one who was singing and talking away. Luckily we had done a little research prior to our trip

Is there a height limit? My husband is 6'8"

Does this gondola ride stay only in the Grand Canal or does it go into some of the smaller canals as well?
Written April 16, 2022
How long is the Private Gondola Serenade last? The other two options are 30 mins and 60 mins but this option doesn't specify a timeframe. Can you also please confirm that it travels down the side canals and not just the Grand Canal? Thank you for your time.
