On the island of Burano, the museum is housed in the building of the ancient Lace School. There are exposed about two hundred rare and precious specimens that document the evolution of this art in Venice from the sixteenth to the twentieth century.
The museum also preserves the archive of the School which, founded by Andriana Marcello in 1872, not only formed generations of lace makers by handing down a precious and complex art, but was, for a century, an important cultural and entrepreneurial reality of the city.
