This tour was incredible. Sabrina was a great guide and her demonstration and explanation of all the biblical mosaics was fascinating. When all of the lights were turned off in the cathedral and slowly re-illuminated, it was simply chilling. Then going down into the crypt just added to the whole experience. If you have the opportunity to take this tour, do not miss it. It was that special!

We toured St. Mark's Basilica at night as a party of six, including my in-laws who are in their 70's, and my two kids who are both under the age of 12. Every single member of our party agreed that this was the highlight of our time in Venice! Maria, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We learned so much, and for both of my kids to love it as much as our parents did felt like a huge win. We highly recommend this tour and only wish we had booked more just like this! We were in the church as a party of six, with one other group of about four people. That's it - we had the place to ourselves - and as we exited, we saw another night tour group of more than thirty people (we thought maybe even 50!) waiting to get it. We already knew how special our tour was but realized then how incredibly smart we were to purchase this one!

My husband and I were in Venice for our anniversary and didn’t want to wait in line to see St. Mark’s, so I booked this tour. It exceeded our expectations! It was so special to see the mosaic ceilings all illuminated, and to have time to linger at the Pala d’Oro without a crowd! Also, we got to go down into the crypt! Francesca was such a knowledgeable and kind guide, we absolutely loved it and couldn’t believe how lucky we were. Definitely book this tour, wouldn’t want to see the basilica any other way!

This tour was amazing and the highlight of our time in Venice. Our guide Nico, was extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about Saint Mark’s and he brought the wonder and mystery of this amazing structure to life for us with historical details and biblical stories. I am so glad we chose this tour and had Nico to guide us through the 1,000 year journey of Saint Mark’s.

I highly recommend the tour operator Martina, she was really amazing, she really has passion for her job. We were a small group of friends and we decided to get this type of tour for small groups. We would never forget it for sure. Pala d’Oro and the "cripta" were literally insane for who loves architecture.

This was an incredible experience, just my family of four, plus one other family of four (clearly they don’t actually stick to their claim of only six people per tour, but it was not an issue because such a small intimate group). Our guide was Pamela, and she was just fabulous.... so knowledgeable about Venice’s history and the religious and art history of the basilica as well. We started in the piazza and had some time to chat with Pamela before the other family arrived, and she told us a lot about the history of the Piazza and Venice in the last and now as well. When the tour began,, it was sunset and we were outside the basilica and learned about the many mosaics and the history of how St. Mark’s bones came to Venice. Inside, we learned about the basilica’s construction and the damage done by the high tides. Inside, we sat and all the lights to see the walkways were cut off. From darkness, they brought up the lights on all the mosaics which was just breathtaking. The gold gleamed! Pamela gave us a wonderful tour with discussion about the different scenes and organization of the mosaic scenes, then to St. Mark’s crypt, the altar, and the gold altarpiece. We had a special treat in that the altarpiece was being turned feast mass the following morning, so we got to see it in place behind the altar from both sides. It was just a phenomenal tour, one we will never forget. I can’t recommend Pamela highly enough. If we had more time in Venice, we would definitely try to book another tour with her. This was our first LivItaly tour, and I’m now looking for others to book for our time in Rome.

Excellent guide Pamela who is knowledgeable, friendly and very clear in her explanations. She showed us unique details and artifacts. This cannot be compared with regular daytime visits in a packed basilica.

This was our 3rd Tour with this company and it was just as great as the first two! Highly recommend! Visiting Saint Mark’s at night was a special magical experience, from the lighting, to the ease of moving around the space with no crowd, to the ability to enjoy the tour and info provided in a calm non-chaotic way. Will continue to seek out this company in the future!

We used LivItaly on a trip a few years ago and had the most amazing time with their guides and when we decided to go back to visit Venice we looked them up right away. We were so fortunated to be in Venice on a day when they offered their super VIP night tour of Saint Marks basilica. We met our guide in Saint marks square, it was after dark and all the street lights were lit, very beautiful. The guide gave us a great introduction about the basilica. The custodian opened the massive door to the church and let our small group (our family of four and one more couple) and guide inside. As soon as we entered they closed the door again and we were standing in there ALONE in the dark. The lights started slowly to turn on and our jaws just dropped when we saw all the golden mosaics. Since we were the only ones in there our guide could speak with a normal voice explaining all the treasures of Saint Marks. She could have whispered and we would still her her perfectly! The tour also included a visit to the Pala d’Oro and the crypts which are never accessible in the daytime. This tour was a once in a lifetime experience and I will cherish it forever! The day after we passed by Saint Marks basilica and saw the massive groups of people lining up to enter and that made our visit feel even more exclusive!
