Our guide for this was Sophia.
The meeting place was easy to find -right opposite the train station.
There were only 6 of us on the tour… brilliant for us 👏
The tour was excellent - Sophia was articulate, knowledgeable, funny and considered when explaining the history of Venice.
We were privileged to be able so see some of the authentic parts of Venice where local people live.
The tour and history of the Jewish ‘ghetto’ was shared with us with a really outstanding degree of personal compassion by Sophia and enabled us to understand what had occurred.
The tour itself lasted for just under 2 hours and was worth every penny.
We saw a part of Venice which was indeed hidden.. empty pavements… real life.
If you want to see the real Venice please book this tour.. you won’t regret it.

Our guide managed to keep our group entertained and educated even in the rain. It was wonderful to get away from the crowds and learn more about this magical place. Particularly enjoyed learning about the Jewish ghetto, the system of drinking water wells, the story behind the Madonna del’orto church and the statues of the three moors.
We have visited Venice twice before and can thoroughly recommend this tour to those who want to expand their knowledge of Venice

We had a great tour with Nico! He was a friendly Venetian with excellent English and a penchant for trying out his humour with his guests. He was so knowledgeable that it made our trip a bonanza of facts and educated opinion. We were on a small tour [numbering 5] which meant that Nico was able to answer everyone’s questions in great detail. Our favourite part, was going to, and learning all about the Jewish experience in the Jewish Ghettos. Again, Nico displayed great knowledge and delivered his information with sensitivity. All in all, we took away a great deal from our tour with Nico and would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wishes to move away from the ‘maddening crowd’ of commercial Venice…

I enjoyed our walking tour. Doing it around sunset was great as we got to see the city turned from daytime activities to evening. Lovely neighborhoods and history. Matteo our guide was great to bring everyone with him. There is some overlap with the food tour but with more focus on neighborhoods, mostly the Jewish Ghetto and Cannaregio.

Matteo was our guide for this tour and he was great. He made the tour fun and he was very informative, we had a great time with him seeing Venice. His passion for the city he has grown up in was obvious and we would thoroughly recommend this tour.
Thank you Matteo.

Excellent tour led by Natasha! She clearly knows and loves the city, and she managed to steer us away from the crowds while giving us a wonderful overview of the city’s origins as well as interesting tidbits and details along the way. You can always wander around Venice on your own and get delightfully lost (which we did after the tour) but I highly recommend starting your day with this walking tour first. Grazie Natasha!

The guide absolutely made this tour. He was a genuine Venetian & clearly passionate about his City-but he was also passionate about communicating his knowledge to his audience.
The pace of the tour & the speed & clarity of his voice made it easy for everyone to understand & he took time to answer queries as we went along. The audio equipment was all working optimally-& he had spares, just in case there were any problems.
This was a man with real empathy, who like people & loved his job-& it showed. He even hugged me when I thanked him for doing a good job!
We felt we learned a lot & very much enjoyed our 2 hours on this tour & clearly the company running this tour cares about its staff AND its customers.

I booked this guided tour for my last morning in Venice and, as I was the only one who had done so, I was treated to a private tour with guide Luca, who was absolutely charming and spoke perfect English. It felt more like a Sunday morning stroll with a friend, hearing his wonderful stories of the Cannaregio area with all the connections to his family and his own life. He has such a wealth of knowledge about this fascinating area, and Venice in general, and it was all given in such an entertaining and engaging way. It was truly wonderful to see a young man so passionate about his home. A highlight was a private demonstration of Murano glass jewelry-making in a little workshop (Momylia) down a side-street which I would never have found by myself! In fact, the whole two hours (which flew by!) was most definitely a highlight of my visit to Venice and I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to discover more of Venice than just the usual tourist spots, spent in the company of a most convivial Venetian! If I ever have the chance to visit Venice again, I would most certainly book for at least one of the other tours offered by this enterprising young man.

The tour with Natasha was absolutely fantastic! Not only was she able to lead us out of the hustle and bustle to some really secluded and quiet backstreets of the Cannaregio quarter with beautiful views and places, she also had lots of interesting stories, anecdotes and context supported by some pictures and drawings on her iPad. The real Venice of the past and present came alive for us. She was also able to engage our children, though they where already tired from looking at museums and buildings all day. Thank you for the lovely tour Natasha.

I can’t say enough about this tour. If you are truly interested in a local’s perspective if this magical city, this is a must. Our guide,Enrico, was superb. Knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The tour was two hours and we could have stayed with him all day to listen to his extensive historical knowledge of Venice and his personal experiences and perspectives there. We visited the Jewish ghetto, walked down small alleys, visited the fish market, walked by countless churches and historical monuments, all given context by our guide. If you want to get away from most of the crowd and get a true feel for this beautiful city, it’s the way to go. If you have a preferred itinerary, he will follow your lead. We preferred to just have him take the lead. We spent most of our time on the Cannaregio area. If you have the time, you won’t regret it.

Hi There, the first tour we went on, which was supposed to be an introduction to Venice had 30 people, a single guide & dreadful communication equipment. You are quite correct in looking for smaller tour groups-30 is unmanageable in narrow streets where there are lots of other tourists as well.
Our second tour was 'Hidden Venice', where there were about 15 people and an excellent guide. This group size worked fine with this particular guide, who took time to speak to everyone an answer all sorts of questions.
The two tours were run by different companies; the first was by the biggest provider, who run tours like a factory line. It was clear from other reviews that the organisers of the second tour, really care about both their guides & their clients.
HI , We would like to do the private English tour Sat Oct 29 @ 10.00. If the train arrives in Venice at 9:50 would that be enough time for us to get to the meeting place at the green dome church across from the train staition. I

Alert your guide if you attempt this. With only ten minutes you’ll likely not make it. It’s not the distance, it’s the climbing and crossing the bridge in pedestrian traffic. Guides usually request that you check in 15 minutes prior to the tour and you certainly won’t be there early.

It says “tickets from $40.39”. Then when I try to buy the tickets, it says for 3 of us, the cost would be $276.54?! That does not make sense. Why so expensive? Thanks, Amy

The private tour in season is more expensive, but it was 100% worth it,. It is very directed to you as the guide listens and reacts to what it is you are driving for. It is more expensive than the group tours but worth the expense in a visit to a city like Venice!
