About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 260derekg0 contributionsHighly recommended with excellent local and historical knowledge. Our hotel arranged a half day private tour for us with Geovani and Flavio going to Cisterino, Alberobello and Locorotondo. Their local knowledge and comments on the history of the towns and region were excellent and the refreshment/lunch stops were great with their knowlege of where to find authentic quality outlets. We were also pointed to a very good restaurant for dinner after the tour.Written September 8, 2024
- LightPacker2533160 contributionsWonderful day trip of the Val d’ItriaDelightful father and daughter guides took us around and we had a lovely and informative day visiting the towns of the Val d’Itria including Fasano with a wine tasting at the Monsignore Estate arranged at the last minute, Cisternino, Polignano and Alberobello where we arrived late afternoon and enjoyed the autumn light of the sun going down on the trullo houses. Plenty of churches for me to sing in and test the acoustics too.Written October 23, 2023

- LynneC8370 contributionsBucket list toursOur tour was wonderful. The guides were knowledgeable about the history and culture of this area and what made each stop unique. They were flexible and able to address our interests. The lunches were amazing and we were served local specialties. We took a different tour the next day with this group and we’re just as happy with it too.Written October 18, 2022
- Msilva10830 contributionsExcellent tour of Lecce and Otranto. This tour was on our third day of a week long trip to Italy and was a perfect break from the travel routine. Giovanni was a tremendous guide to Lecce and Otranto - cappucino and lunch breaks, great conversation about Italy and fun to be with a local for the day. Can’t recommend enough!Written December 9, 2021
- Trail034267159300 contributionsFabulous Prosecco Wine TourA wonderful day in wine country with Riccardo. We learned so much about Prosecco and thoroughly enjoyed the small family wineries we visited and the great food that accompanied the wine. The day was beautiful and the fall colors were spectacular. We highly recommend Riccardo and this company. Cannot say enough good things about our day spent with him. Six stars!Written October 30, 2021

- Modi D0 contributionsAlberobello, Lecce, and Polignano - just fantastic!Giovanni and Gianfranco picked us up at our B&B in Bari. We first drove to Alberobello, where we visited the Trullo Sovrano and saw the other trulli houses while walking around the town. Our next stop was Lecce where we had a delcious local homemade lunch. We then walked through old Lecce, the "Florence of the South" with impressive Baroque architecture. Our final stop on the tour was at Polignano a Mare, a seaside town with magnificent cliffs bordering on the sea. We can not say enough about Gio and Gianfranco and the wonderful tour that they arranged for us. We had a enjoyable time discussing Italy, past and present, the U.S., and other parts of the world. We found it very interesting to hear other people's perspectives on life and events in their country. Giovanni is also very knowledgeable about the local food scene, choosing both a great restaurant for lunch and a good gelateria. We strongly recommend Giovanni and Gianfranco as guides for tours in Puglia.Written March 1, 2019
- APHB0 contributionsLovely long weekend in Lecce And GallipoliGio was a superb guide- not only finding fantastic restaurants but also interesting cultural and wine tasting. I'd especially recommend the Trattoria Zie in Lecce and the fish restaurant in Gallipoli. Gio even helped us sort out a problem with our Alitalia tickets at the airport- mille grazie Gio, and see you soon!Written January 28, 2019
- judyq20140 contributionsAmazing Tour GuidesWe had an amazing 5 day touring adventure around the Puglia region in June. Gio and Valentina were our tour guides and we were so lucky to have them show us their hometown and surrounding region. We were treated like royalty and their enthusiasm and love of their region shone through each and every day. They made each day very special and by the end of day one we felt as though we had spent the time with friends. We would thorough recommend Green Italy Tours and the old adage 'you get what you pay for' is certainly true here. The Puglia region itself is a truly beautiful area and we were so fortunate to be shown around by locals. Thanks again Gio for everything - you certainly went out of your way for us and we are very thankful to you. Come visit NZ sometime and we can hopefully return the hospitality shown to us by yourself and Valentina. George and JudyWritten August 8, 2018

They have abundant local knowledge and are clearly proud of their beautiful Italian region of Puglia. We found them informative, welcoming, friendly and hospitable. They certainly are prepared to go out of their way to make sure your trip is a success. If you want to get the most out of you trip then we would highly recommend them.Written June 18, 2018
- Travelingbob20120 contributionsA memorable and fun adventureAlthough we have been to Italy many times, this time we decided to add a visit to Puglia, a region where we had not previously been. After a lot of research and reading many favorable reviews on Trip Advisor, we booked a nine-day gourmet food & wine tour with Green Italy. The American educated and fluent English-speaking owner, Giovanni Fasano, and his crew were all very friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel a part of their "family". We exchanged several emails and a couple of calls with Gio who was very flexible and his suggestions were invaluable. A couple of close friends who decided at the last minute to join us had some very specific requests and Gio bent over backwards to accommodate them. Amazingly, Gio was with us most of the time which is treatment we did not expect from the owner of a company. He is a skilled raconteur and a fun person to be around. Lunches and a couple of dinners were included and we expected good, but modest meals. What we got was a delicious and bountiful repast every day in a variety of great restaurants. We often got so full on the many delicious appetizers that we could barely find room for the pasta course or beyond. Oh, did I mention that all of this came with lots of wine? Some evenings we didn't eat dinner because we were still full from lunch. In addition to all of the food and wine experiences, we visited several historic places and learned a lot about Puglia, "the Tuscany of the south". Without going into a lot more detail, I will summarize by saying that we highly recommend Green Italy for an educational, satisfying and fun experience. Thank you Gio, Angela, both Francesca's, Gianfranco, Anthony and Bob the dog!Written December 1, 2016
- ktinti20160 contributionsWish I could rank Green Italy with ten stars!!!This was our first visit to Puglia, although we have been to Italy more than a dozen times, many of those visits on our own, taking trains to various cities, or staying/traveling with family and friends in Italy. I cannot think of one thing we would have changed, and count us most lucky that we discovered Green Italy Tours and Giovanni Fasano and his superb staff on the Trip Advisor website. I was particularly taken with the Jewish Heritage Tour mention on Green Italy's website, and Giovanni didn't disappoint. There is tremendous Jewish history in this area of Italy and we visited Jewish catacombs, museums, and even a fledgling synagogue rebuilding a community here. We had scheduled six trips with Giovanni, often accompanied by his colleague Nedira Yakir, and ended up adding an additional day. This area of Italy is gorgeous, the food is incredible, Giovanni's menu and wine suggestions excellent, the tours informative and varied, his and Nedira's knowledge and guidance of the highest caliber. Looking forward to returning to Puglia soon or to another area of Italy serviced by Green Italy Tours. Grazie moltissimo, Gio and your warm, welcoming staff.Written November 14, 2016
- Travel_on_1090 contributionsPoor communication - missed tourSix words - The guide did not show up! I reserved the tour on June 24 for November 5th. The final email I sent was, "What do you need to confirm this tour?" Giovanni replied and asked if we wanted to include lunch and noted we could pay cash to the guide or pre-pay with Paypal. He also asked for my phone number. I responded that I would not be using a phone in Italy so please email and that we wanted lunch. His final email, "Great, all set. Looking forward to a great excursion." Smiley face. Morning of the tour, no guide. A companion used their phone to call. Giovanni answered and said I never confirmed the tour because I never replied to their calls or emails. I received no other emails from Giovanni at Hotmail nor from Green Italy tours at gmail. If they can provide a copy, I will correct this review. Upon my return to the states, there was a phone call to my mobile from someone asking me to confirm the tour two days before the tour date. I booked six tour guides for this trip and have booked dozens of other private guides on other trips. Yet, this is the only no show I have ever experienced. You can draw your own conclusions about this company. At least our day was saved by Massimo a fun taxi driver who delivered the same tour for €100 less than Green Italy quoted. While I am sure we missed some history here and there, it was a great day with the locals!Written November 12, 2016
- Andrew M0 contributionsA Day to rememberWe were met in Polignano a Mare by Maria and Anthony who were our guides for the day around 9am we got back in the early evening at 8 It was a long day but it just flew by as it was well constructed, interesting and full of great discussion, food , wine and history. We started with a walking tour around Lecce , taking in the key points , and strolling the streets. Then off to Gallipoli for lunch in a great seafood restaurant, lots of good food and talk. Then to a wine tasting, it was at L'Astore in Cutrofiano . My understanding is that it can be at different wineries, but I can say this was a good one , good wines well presented with good food to accompany the wines. In between we had good drive through the countryside with lots of chat about places and points of interest from both Maria and Anthony. I organised all the your from Australia via email and found Giovanni who I communicated with really easy to deal with. Absolutely worth what we paid would thoroughly recommend if you were visiting Puglia regionWritten October 8, 2016
