"We FINALLY got to not 1 but 2 private Gondola rides!!!
My husband & I were on vacation to Venice to celebrate our #55 anniversary and were determined to make sure we got in a private gondola ride on this trip. We have been to Venice several other times but with a group and on those gondola rides, we were always with 2 other couples and never got to sit in the nice chairs that are provided just for a couple. Well, on our anniversary we did get to have our 1st gondola ride and our gondolier was soooo funny and made the ride so memorable. We went up & down several canals, under bridges & walkways and even out to the Grand Canal and saw the Rialto Bridge. Several days later, we were also determined to make sure we got another gondola ride in before we left Venice. This was a great ride also, seeing the Grand Canal with the beautiful buildings along the water, seeing water taxis going by and we were so glad we took another ride. Our gondolier was very pleasant and pointed out numerous historical sites along the way. This was truly so much fun and FINALLY glad we got our own private rides...priceless!

The iconic “must do’ when in Venice.
After lunch we took the iconic Gondola ride, covering some main canals and the more quiet ‘back street’ canals. This provided a much different perspective to the various bridges; houses etc. A “must do” when in Venice.

        Dissapointed
My wife has always wanted to visit Venice and we were so much looking forward to this part of the visit. The Gondola operators were a little rude, the ride was expensive and only lasted about 25mins total and the gondolier never said a word the whole ride. Very dissapointed. Will never return.

Disappointed, not what I had hoped for.
We were at the designated location prior to the meeting time, not at all obvious where to go. Finally went to a "tour" booth and they were confused as well. The guy there called someone and then took us to where this group was already at. The only reason we signed up was to see the spiral staircase at the Palace featured on the add, hoping to experience the view from the top. Unfortunately the tour does not go up the staircase only looks at it. Nice local tour guide, although hard to understand at times.

It's a two hundred dollar scan.
When we purchased this excursion, it was scheduled at 12 noon period when we arrived at the location we were told we could not go into Venice because of high tide period sense. High tide is a known time period. my question is, why would you sell me a ticket when you know I can't be guaranteed ride that you advertised. We had to accept because of time limitations. A ride up-and-down with the grand canal rather than into Venice. All who read this review should be cautious of purchasing anything from Trip Advisor.

        Right on the Grand Canal
Nice selection of contemporary art by some internationally-known artists and some Italians we didn't know. Enjoyed the museum, and really enjoyed relaxing in their cafe. It overlooks the Grand Canal and all of its interesting traffic. Almost like a private patio in a Venetian palazzo. We had a flat bread pizza and cicchetti with beer and wine. Tasty. And reasonable considering it's part of a museum.

        .
Ended up cancelled. Didn’t find the location in time because it was not clearly marked and hidden on one side of a cart shop, mistaked a different tour for it as they both are in the same space.

Overall good tour with history and beautiful artwork.
Tour started off a little slow. We were given our headsets, the guide did a sound check and then just started walking through San Marco Plaza with no commentary. All we could hear was the crowds in the background of the mic. The guide was not speaking, just walking through the busy area. Once we arrived at the Doge's Palace however, our guide was a wealth of knowledge. Inside we viewed amazing and beautiful art and learned interesting history of the ancient rulers of Venice. Overall a good tour, would probably not do it again though. Seen it once, no need to see it again.

        Overbooked, flustered and no information
I booked this ride, based on the positive reviews, in advance of coming to Venice. Finding the place was easy enough (although it was somewhat hidden away behind Piazza San Marco) and we were directed to the checkin office. I was waiting behind two other couples. The owner apparently was handling a large group of tourists, and did not communicate at all with us waiting. At one point, he literally closed the window. He was obviously flustered. The owner provided no information on the what and the how, and we were just left waiting in line. The first couple finally got their QR code (apparently needed for the gondelier to get paid) and he proceeded to close the service window. After we started to make some noise after 40 ( ! ) minutes of waiting, and my booking time coming up fast (I was 45 minutes early), we were finally informed he was overbooked and running over 1.5 hours behind. He pointed to GetYourGuide and TripAdvisor for the mistake. In my mind, if you use these services you should have a working system to manage your bookings. Clearly, he took in more than he could handle. We didn't have the luxury of time, neither did the couple ahead of us. I have requested (and expect) a full refund as this was a complete failure on the gondola company. I advise TripAdvisor to revisit their relationship with this company. Definitely NOT recommended!

        Rialto bridge gondola ride
Definitely not recommended. Not friendly and not even 15 minutes. It was not worth it at all. This was at the Rialto bridge.

Would hardly call it a museum
Yikes this museum is very threadbare and not really worth your time, although entry is free when included with Doge's palace tickets. Certainly not worth paying separately for. There are only a few rooms and very few signs explaining the items. Certainly not as good as the glass museum in Murano.

        Gondola views of Venice
Seeing Venice from the water and gliding through the canals is such a unique experience. We loved it! Glad we opted for the 40 minute trip as the time went by so fast. We opted for first thing in the morning when temperatures were perfect. Wish our guide had shared more stories/history or even serenade for an authentic experience. All in all highly recommend.

        Underwhelming
The customer service and everything leading up to the gondola ride was smooth and organized. However, it’s solely just a quiet short boat ride. Our gondolier didn’t say a single word or give us history, or offer to take a picture or anything. We saw other gondoliers going above and beyond for people and were hoping the same for our anniversary. Cool experience, but I would say it’s not worth the money.

We booked to enter at 3.45 but we arrived much earlier, we asked if we could go in and they said we could. It saved us so much time as the queue to enter was very long, and there were so many tours waiting to enter too.

      1. Buy the skip the line tickets and have the bar code on your smartphone, no need to print. The regular line is huge. Skip the line is 5 min wait and St Mark’s is free to get in.
      2. Arrive in front of St Mark’s and to the left is a bag drop sign, which has an arrow to bag drop down a small alleyway to the left. It is free and you can’t enter St Mark’s with anything bigger than a handbag. They will turn you away with even a small backpack.
      3. Before you check your bag, take out a shawl or jacket if you are an adult with bare shoulders or knees. They will turn you away or sell you a cover up for €2. Kids get away with it.

For this small price definitely worth paying to skip the queues. Still had to queue for a few minutes but the other queue was very long and in the baking sun. The entrance is free. You can't take photos which is disappointing although some people were. You do have to pay extra for a few other exhibits but small fees. Definitely worth paying the 5 Euro to go up to the top. The views from here of st marks square are spectacular . I just wonder what will happen if everyone pays to skip the queues

I bought the Skip The Line tickets for St. Mark's Basilica a couple of months in advance because Venice is so busy in the summer. It was well worth it! The regular line for entry snaked around forever! We walked right in and had a 1 hour guided tour thru the Basilica. We also got to see the Baptistery, Zen Chapel and Treasury room. It is an incredibly beautiful church with a fascinating history. Plus St. Mark - the evangelist - is right there at the altar!

Be very careful when you are ordering. I placed an order for the same day to skip the line for Bell tower and St. Mark's cathedral and was charged only to find out that the system gave me two different days. No invoice was provided for the one system screwed up. Their refund policy is none existent. They are claiming it was not their system error. Go figure.

Dear worldwidetravele2016, thank you for posting your review. We are sorry for the inconvenience you had during the booking procedure on our website, probably due to a mistake in the date selection. Please consider that the ticket reservation process on our website requires, as a first step, to select the date, the time and the number of people. Then, before proceeding with the payment, you are asked to double check that all the information are correct and, in case of mistake, to amend the data. It sounds very unlikely that our reservation system changed the date you selected and confirmed manually and, unfortunately, skip the line tickets for St. Mark's Basilica and Bell Tower are strictly non refundable nor amendable. Our cancellation policy is very flexible with most of our services but for such tickets cancellations and refunds are not accepted by the organ in charge with the management of St. Mark’s Basilica. Kind Regards, Sara Zanardo venetoinside.com

We had skip the line tickets for St. Mark's Bascillica and also St. Mark's Bell Tower. Although they are skip the line, you still have to stand in line for a little bit. Not bad considering the regular lines to get in. St. Mark's Bascillica got us in and we were able to walk around the inside. Some areas were extra, but we didn't go there. On the bell tower, we had access to the elevator immediately. We were able to spend quality time up in the tower and the sights were great. We we were up there, the bells towed. Quite loud but an added plus. We thought both tickets were well worth the price and buying online was a no brainer. Happy with the service and purchase.

We were hesitant about using this but if you’ve got teenagers, you’ve already been walking for a while and it’s raining, definitely a winner to get into St Mark’s without queuing. And worth it to see inside and wander through the nave even if you don’t pay to see the little extras once inside. A tip is there’s a bag drop nearby, you can’t take bags in so allow a few extra minutes for that queue!

The Basilica is a must see in St. Mark's square but the lineups can be very long and there is no relief from the sun and heat. For such a minimal price, it would be crazy not to buy a skip the line ticket.

If you want to make the most out of your trip to venice, make sure to buy your tickets upfront, so you don't lose too much time waiting. Bear in mind, you cannot bring your bag into the Basilica, but you can have give it for safe keeping nearby. Unfortunately, you have to pay extra for some additional collection (less worth it) and the Pala d'Oro (more value for money).

Very worth while. On a very got day with a long queue to enter the basilica, this worked well for us.
The wait would have been too long to enter otherwise.
