The tour would have been great but for our tour guide. She had a very strong accent and it was super hard to understand her. Then within the first 15 min she found a way to insult pretty much all of us in the tour. (5) of us. She disgraced our country (USA) by saying “you Americans don’t have a history because you just tear down old historic buildings and build new ones on top of them”. This is absolutely not true and we pointed it out to her right away.
Then as we were touring the churches she was obviously just making things up as she went along. Two people in our group pointed out to her as they knew way more then she did.
It was super busy in Venice this day and she was visually upset with all the tourist. She even remarked that all the people from China were ruining their city. Then while trying to walk down the riverfront she said “I feel like pushing all these Chinese people in the water”. I had enough and returned my listening head set and told her I was done listening to her.
I’m sure there are plenty of great guides out there just don’t get The older women from the “tour guy”. I wish I could remember her name.

We don't seem to be able to find a booking under your name, but we don't cancel tours the day of unless there is some drastic emergency, which is very rare. In the uncommon event of a cancellation, we like to give plenty of notice and work with you to get it rescheduled for a time that suites your schedule. Roberta was very engaging and knowledgeable as a guide. We loved seeing the amazing historic sights. But it was hot and very crowded (which surprised me, for October) and we got very tired of all the walking. (We are senior citizens!) We relaxed at lunch and ended up skipping the second half, which was the Doge's Palace. We decided we've seen enough churches and palaces to last a while! I do regret missing it but I don't think I could have walked another step that day! We loved St. Mark's Cathedral and the gondola ride!

Our guide for the Basilica and general Venice history was Robbie and she was excellent. We learned about Campos, how Venice was built, and how groceries get delivered - it was very fun! We also saw her during our lunch break and she directed us to a great place to eat!
Our Doges Palace tour guide was Marco - what a wealth of knowledge! I'm sure if we had gone to the Palace on our own we would not have learned anything. Marco had a great sense of humor and helped us with what to do after the tour. Highly recommend.

The first part of our trip involved St Mark's, a walking tour and a gondola trip. This was absolutely lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. For the second part of our trip we were due to meet the guide for Doge Palace at 1pm according to our paperwork but nobody turned up by 1.30 pm so we paid to go in by ourselves without a guide. This was not ideal. We were very disappointed and upset and our attempts to contact the company were unsuccessful at that time. As it happened we later bumped into our guide on the Palace and he allowed us to join his tour but was unable to support us to get a refund. When we heard back from the company they initially said they couldn't help us but with a follow up email our concern was picked up and a refund swiftly followed. This more than compensated is for our experience and we would highly recommend for this reason.

Our day started with some minor confusion, on our part, related to the meeting point. We were told to meet “between the two columns” at St. Marks Square. Unfortunately, where we entered the square, the columns were not visible, so it was difficult to know where to go. Fortunately, a guide from another company pointed us in the right direction.
Once we found the columns, we met our guide, Clair (Chiara) who was immediately engaging and friendly. The tour had a great pace and Chiara was clearly very knowledgeable. She shared her knowledge in a friendly and humorous manner. She did a great job sharing all of the information, with great stories and interesting facts.
The gondola ride was nice and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It seemed unfair that some people got prime seating in the rear of the gondola, facing forward, and others were stuck with the uncomfortable chairs, facing sideways. We got the prime seats, but felt bad for others.
Lunch was “on our own” , which was fine with us and we had enough time, but not too much. The afternoon, in the Doges Palace, was very informative. Chiara was the difference between an average tour and an excellent one. Thank you again for a great experience!
