We met our guide Francesca exactly when/where was advertised, and check-in was painless. There were 26 people on the tour, which was more than I expected, but was not a problem for this low-cost tour. Our boat captain was helpful and professional, and there was plenty of room on the boat. Francesca gave a great narration during the ride of the area. Her English was good and her Italian accent was charming.
Our first stop was the lace making in Burano. Francesca led us to a shop that explained the craft and had a lady making stitches. After that we were on our own for about an hour to explore, which was plenty of time to see the area if you don’t stop to have a full meal.
2nd stop was Murano with a wonderful demonstration of a glass artist making a medium sized vase and a glass horse from scratch. Afterwards we had just enough time to tour that same showcase before departing.
If you’ve never been to Murano before, I would recommend staying behind for a longer visit, (there’s so much to see,) and taking a water bus back at your own expense.
For the money, I thought the tour was a good value, and would recommend it.

Our family of four enjoyed this tour but it is correct that if you get stuck below in the front deck of the relatively small, crowded boat you will wilt a bit. Largely because the boat driver pokes along like I couldn't believe. There may be rules about no wake disturbance but even in what looked like relatively open water it seemed to me it was too slow going. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly but seemed worried to fill every moment with a dialogue so sometimes it felt like too much info and I tuned out a bit which isn't like me so imagine what my teens were doing! They came to attention though at the prospect of shopping in Burano, where we also had a delicious lunch. (You are on your own for about 1.5 hours there.) Then off to Murano for an awe-inspiring, teenage-jaw-dropping demo of glass blowing. Then time in the gigantic store where you can spend anywhere from 5 to 8,000 Euro at my estimated range, even with a 20 percent discount. I made the mistake of picking up a larger piece to see the price and that was it...the press to purchase followed me nearly to the door. So don't go looking like a big money player unless you are! We got a glass of bubbly on the way back to Venice and yes, the boat even went slow headed back to the dock.

The guide, Gabriel, was very knowledgeable of the history of Venice; explaining to its origins and how the islands were reinforced to avoid erosion. The glass blowing demonstration was interesting as well; the shop/museum you are taken to afterwards is fascinating with its many examples and displays of elaborate glass works of art. The visit to Burano island was very nice; the guide took us to his favorite biscuit shop which fresh yummy biscuit cookies. The gift shops on Burano were much more low key than in Venice but had many affordable local works both from Burano and Murano. A little Prosecco toast on the boat ride back capped off a wonderful afternoon tour.

This "tour" presents me with a dilemma...on the plus side the boat is clean and is probably a similar price to a return ferry without the faff of waiting in queues to hop on a ferry. There is a guide and we did get some facts - but not a lot - presented very dryly and not all entirely clearly heard.

The glass blowing was difficult to observe from where we were seated and there wasn't much time to actually see Murano before we had to leave. Landed up losing close on 10 minutes as the only back to our boat was through the glass blowing area and owing to another demonstration going on, we lost time that we could have used in exploring waiting in a queue anyway.

Burano seemed better organised and we had more time to walk around to marvel at this lovely island although more would have been appreciated. I understand the logistics of three long boat journeys but making it 30 minutes longer and organising boarding and disembarking better could probably mean another 30 minutes per island.

Really nice tour, a nice little break from the hustle and bustle of the crowded streets of Venice. I will say that a lot of time is spent on the boat so be prepared for that. Murano consists of the glassblowing demonstration and visit to the very large, and quite pricey, shop and then we were given the option to go to a church. Burano is beautiful but we only spent about an hour there, long enough for delicious ice cream and a short walk. Worth it, I think. The tour guide was delightful and provided a lot of neat information, as well as a glass of Prosecco. If you are spending several days in Venice I would suggest this tour to see a different side of the city.

The visit to Murano and the experience in the Glass Factory was wonderful. My grandchildren who were a bit ho-hum about the visit sprung to attention as soon as the glass master started to create. It was a great experience.
Burano is a very pretty island with all its highly coloured buildings. Most of the shops are selling similar merchandise so we concentrated on the beautiful views and the water.
I would have given the islands excursion 5 stars except for this. We were in Burano over the lunch hour and unbeknownst to me the guide led the group away from the water and canal views to a restaurant of her choice where they were herded inside into a side room for lunch. Half of our family of 15 were already seated when I discovered they had not picked this restaurant. Some had already ordered drinks and felt they needed to stay but eight of us left and picked our own lovely waterside outdoor restaurant. I know this is a "thing" for a guide to take business to a particular establishment but I was furious.

We were looking for a half day excursion from Venice to Murano and Burano and ended up booking this one 2 days in advance as we were keen to avoid joining a huge group and the timings fitted in with our plans. Alex, our guide, was informative, funny and took the time to speak with everyone in the group. The excursion is fantastic value for money and combines a more structured visit to the glass factory, the church on Murano and the traditional lacemaking shop along with free time on Burano - not forgetting a glass of Prosecco on the boat!

The staff at the glass factory and the family who own the lacemaking store are super friendly and charming and while they are keen to show you around and to tell you all about the glassmaking and lacemaking traditions, they do not put you under any pressure to buy anything. Both offered discounts to anyone in the group who did want to make a purchase.

We couldn’t find fault with any aspect of the trip and big thanks to Alex for sharing his knowledge and good humour. Highly recommended.

Your guide Alex was fantastic. The trip it’s self is also very cultural and interesting at the same time as being fun. Could not recommend this trip enough and the price is very good to say you spend half a day out and about experiencing different islands of Venice

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed this tour. Selena was a great guide and offered a nice amount of history about the region during the boat rides (to and from) and also in Burano. Highly recommend this tour.

Only slight downside is that you don’t have much free time to explore the islands on your own. We were provided a nice walking tour in Burano, but then you have about 1 hour of free time. You can use the time to grab lunch or walk around. We grabbed lunch at ~1145. Nothing against the restaurant where we ate, but if I had to do it over, I would have eaten a snack to hold me over until our return in (~2:30). Europeans eat lunch later, in general, anyway. We could have used the time to explore the shops on the island. For Murano, you are provided a nice glass blowing demonstration and then you are given sufficient time to peruse the shop to pick up any memorabilia you desire.

So silly - honestly it’s a tourist trap. The first 25 min of the two hours is getting there, then you watch a mildly interesting glass blowing demonstration that takes 10 min, then you get to do a craft that they call a “workshop” which consists of making a mosaic with broken glass or a piece of jewelry. That’s the next 40 min - then it’s time to “exit through the gift shop.” That’s it. That’s the whole tour. It’s a way to corral people into a situation where they will impulse buy glass art. Really a total waste of time and money. You’d be better off spending the funds on a nice bottle of Prosecco with your dinner.
