- EileenR2180 contributionsExcellent tour of highlights of Venice.Highly recommend this tour. Our guide was very helpful and informative. Small size group of 12 then just 6 for the extended tour of the basilica and Doges Palace. We learned lots of history of the beautiful Venice. This tour hits all the highlights!Written October 28, 2024
- entwisle180 contributionsExcellent experienceOur guide was charismatic, amusing but informative. Took us to hidden gems that many tourists will miss. Cannot recommend highly enough.Written October 27, 2024
- McKenzie A0 contributionsTook our reservation papers, then went missing after the gondola ride. Stated that we were a complete no-show, so we couldn't geWe met up at the location provided, and the tour guide checked our names off the list and took our reservation paper. As everyone else arrived, he took us to the gondola, where they traveled through the canals. The gondola went back to the same spot that we left, and the tour guide was nowhere to be found. We waited around for him for about 15 minutes and then decided to go back to the original meet-up location, where he was missing as well. We then found out that the tourguide scammed us by leaving us at the gondola ride and stating that we were a complete no-show.Written October 2, 2024

- J6725FAalexd0 contributionsReasonableJourney from punta sabbioni was pleasant and staff were nice however we spent several hours in venice and when it came to the return trip we approached the docking point and there were several ques for different boats so i asked the younger of the 2 men that were taking tickets and very politely asked if we were in the right place and he very rudely said "get to the back of the que now" my response was simply "ok i was just wondering if we were in the right place there is no need to be rude" and he replied with "you listen to me now or you dont get on, move to the back now". Other than that it was a reasonably calm and nice journey and resonably priced for a family of 7.Written September 3, 2024
- jamesericf20220 contributionsAnd I Never Give Negative ReviewsDreadful... I don't know what we expected, but a group of ~200 grownups (plus several hapless children) being hauled courtesy of a weary old water-bus with promoter's logo obligingly printed on the gunnels and across the ample stern, was hardly our hope. Yes, the narrator did speak using an onboard P.A. setup which in any case was so loud that every word (repeated in I think four languages, true) was distorted beyond comprehension. At Murano we were all herded into a bleachers-filled room to watch a glass blower—well—blow glass for a few minutes. Impressive results without much if any explanation. Show over... Continuing through the planned gauntlet which led into impressive showrooms of classy glass creations, eventually we emerged into sunlight—after asking saleslady where we might find the exit. Whew. Next our large bunch boarded a boat that might have been a large prop for the Barbie movie. Pink. After more gnarled syllables from our explainer, we alighted on Torcello. With no clue given about a return to Venice, neither time nor farewell. At some point we bought tickets on the regular-scheduled vaporetto, and returned more or less home... actual HOME (where we started) being a generous 40 minute walk from where we exited the water-bus. Summing up, this thing looked better on my tablet screen than its reality. I would like to do an actual tour of these places —but not with an outfit whose hands were sweaty from just turning the crank.Written September 2, 2024

Nobody say to us that it will be close. So, we lost the chance to see del bocolo and we lost our money.Written August 21, 2024
- areac50 contributionsRedentore Festival - Dinner, Cocktails & DJDisappointing & as it turned out an expensive, over priced evening at Taverna La Fenice. Had originally booked dinner and then a boat onto the lagoon to watch the fireworks but this was cancelled. Offered a range of alternatives but opted in the end to stick with dinner at the original restaurant. Food was great and the restaurant had a lively ambience and fun waiters however the overall service was very poor and when we raised this with the Maitre D' he could not have been less interested. We had pre-paid for post firework cocktails & DJ set but we never went back given our experience at the meal. Whilst the experience at dinner wasn't great, Martina in Customer Support at Venetoinside who helped us when the original event was cancelled could not have been more helpful. She was five star and I offer her our thanks- just a real shame the restaurant did not deliver.Written August 8, 2024
- edithmT8805OW0 contributionsMEH.Quite expensive for less than 30 minutes. I recommend doing more research and selecting a different company. The gondolier was friendly enough but it just felt very rushed, and we were back and out of the boat in under 25 minutes.Written July 8, 2024
- Rostyslav K0 contributionsSan Marco Cathedral and Doge's PalaceWe were lucky to get an excellent guide. Not only she knew the subject, but she also seemed to enjoy talking about it. And I am sure, this was not the first or second time relaying same information again and again. Highly professional and friendly. Skip the line(s) approach helps a lot. Highly recommended!Written June 23, 2024
- Sightsee4836330 contributionsGreat tour!I thought this was an excellent tour. At first I was surprised we got headphones, but then I realized this was just so everyone could hear in a crowded environment. The tour was very informative of the history of Venice as well as the Doge's palace. I highly recommend it!Written June 17, 2024
- CEDavues0 contributionsGreat day outWe thoroughly enjoyed our days boat trip to the Islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. All so beautiful. Murano with its stunning glass (I could of spent a fortune), Burano with its colourful buildings and s really laid back vibe. Then the calmness of Torcello, very pretty with a lovely church to visit. The tour was well organised, the meeting point was easy to find also. We had s lovely day.Written June 8, 2024
- nanaof1boy3girls0 contributionsdifferentWe did this walking tour to see parts of Venice that we may not have seen before. The tour was interesting but it was supposed to be English speaking only. Our tour guide Valentina was okay but she didn't seem real in enthusiastic about it. She did point out how the garbage was emptied in Venice. When we were doing the virtual reality part of it we weren't allowed to finish watching it.Written June 1, 2024

A romantic gondola ride is on the top of most traveler’s itinerary when visiting Venice. It was definitely a must do for me. I imagined taking in the beautiful sights of Venice, floating through historic canals and the sounds of music in the air. In reality, my experience was flawed from the start. A heat wave was occurring at the time, followed by periodic downpours of rain. However, I didn’t mind the weather, I still wanted a magical experience. In reality, what I found is close to a hundred other tourists like me, who all wanted the same experience and were lined up like cattle awaiting their turn for a ride in a gondola, without any clear system or order of who is next queue. We waited patiently in line while we witnessed others charming the gondoliers to cut the line. As we waited we watched as the gondoliers rudely yell commands at tourists, treating them like the cattle they already felt akin to. Overall, Venice was a disappointment largely due to it’s unfriendly inhabitants. I found the people of Roam and along the Almalfi Coast to be charming, welcoming and much more polite than many locals we encountered in Venice.

We showed up for our gondola ride and to our shock and surprise the booth was closed. I left a message with the tour operator and never received a response. We went back the next day and spoke with the person at the booth. I told him that we showed up at 5::15 and he replied that was the departure time and that we didn't show up 10 minutes before departure. I replied that it was difficult to find the booth (no GPS coordinates). He offered to put us on a gondola, but I said we had already purchased a second set of tickets for the six of us for a gondola ride the previous day. When I inquired about receiving a refund he became rude and said we were late and there was nothing he could do.

The gondolier was terrible. 5 minutes into it he told me only 50k Italians still live in Venice. I asked him how many were native and he argued with me telling me he just told me. Do I phrased it differently and said how many of those 50k are American? His response was ‘I haven’t knocked on all of their doors to ask’. Completely ruined our experience and trip. The rest of the 30 minute ride he didn’t talk. Absolutely terrible. Don’t recommend. Honestly have done it twice in Vegas and it’s 1000% better which is sad considering it’s a tiny replica

My husband & I were on vacation to Venice to celebrate our #55 anniversary and were determined to make sure we got in a private gondola ride on this trip.
We have been to Venice several other times but with a group and on those gondola rides, we were always with 2 other couples and never got to sit in the nice chairs that are provided just for a couple.
Well, on our anniversary we did get to have our 1st gondola ride and our gondolier was soooo funny and made the ride so memorable.
We went up & down several canals, under bridges & walkways and even out to the Grand Canal and saw the Rialto Bridge.
Several days later, we were also determined to make sure we got another gondola ride in before we left Venice.
This was a great ride also, seeing the Grand Canal with the beautiful buildings along the water, seeing water taxis going by and we were so glad we took another ride.
Our gondolier was very pleasant and pointed out numerous historical sites along the way.
This was truly so much fun and FINALLY glad we got our own private rides...priceless!

Being in Venice forces you to take with you the memory of a gondola ride, which we did,
We took the gondola at one of the inner canal points, not very crowded.
The price was 80 euros for a walk between interior canals and 100 euros if you went out to the main canal, and we chose this option.
It is wonderful to navigate the canals, passing under several bridges and exiting to the main canal, seeing the Rialto Bridge crowded with people from the water and passing under it there and back.
Thank the gondolier for his kindness, giving us explanations about the relevant monuments and houses we passed by.
A wonderful gondola ride

Many people complaint about crowds etc. This is why we went to Venice on a Monday and not during the weekend. Timing, timing timing guys.
The ride was more than 30 minutes , the gondola captain was talkative in both Italian and English and he will talk about the landmarks . He even took pictures of us ...
SO, pick off peak days and time for a better quality of service...

We met at the appointed time and place with about a hundred other people, waited nearly an hour in line for a RESERVED event and then had a short trip through the canals. Our gondolier said almost nothing the entire time. My overall experience: meh.

At least 50 people were all told to meet at the same time. It was very disorganized. Our ride was booked for 5:15, but we did not get on a gondola until 5:40. The ride itself was nice, but it was only twenty minutes. It was supposed to be 30 minutes. We spent the last 10 minutes waiting in line to get off the gondola. I definitely DO NOT recommend this service. There are many others to choose from.

It's beautiful and a nice experience to go up and down the grand canal in a gondola. It's expensive so better to go for a shared gondola. They had put 3 people in one and we had a nice time enjoying the view all around. If you are looking for a romantic ride, it might or might not work in your favour depending on the crowds that day.

Do not trust this tour. They left us in a lurch. We arrived on time but the booth was already closed. In fact there were a few groups who were in the same troubles as us. No one answers the phone or responds to email. We went back to the booth the next day to ask for a refund, but this arrogant human being was soooooo condescending and just kept telling us that “too bad you were late”. Not a good way to treat tourists. We were on time although we were supposed to show up 15 minutes early. The problem was that good luck finding the booth since there is not GPS coordinates for google maps to help you. Just a verbal description which was basically useless

Thank you for your question. Really the morning is the best time to take a gondola ride because you can find the gondoliers everywhere you go and they are not quite as busy. Also, earlier in the day is better before a lot of water traffic get out and makes the water choppy. We actually took 2 different gondola rides and the some of the gondoliers are so funny and make the ride very enjoyable.

Hi, I see that it's possible to pre-book a gondola ride via TripAdvisor. Is this the best/cheapest way or should we wait till we get there? TIA

Bonjour,
Pourriez vous éclaircir une interrogation concernant le prix d' un tour de 30 min en gondole. Est ce 80 à 85 euros par personne ou 80 à 85 euros le tour quelque soit le nombre de personne?
