About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Brian G0 contributionsTraditional boat ride to BuranoWe took the sultan to the island of Burano for lunch at the Trattoria da Romano! Our only regret is that we didn’t book the sultan for the entire day! Our captain was fun, knowledgeable and explained different areas of the lagoon on our way from Venice to Burano. We sipped Prosecco under the canopy and enjoyed the tour and ride. I cannot recommend this enough!Written July 28, 2024
- R8894AJpaulm0 contributionsFamily funWe had a great trip with Leonardo and Tomasso, they did wonderful job Higly reccommended, don't miss it! The glass factory in Murano and the streets of Burano are just amazing! The boat is comfortable and safe for kids. Grazie Leonardo and TomassoWritten May 17, 2024

The boat tour is a chance to see Venice from a different viewpoint and learn more about the history and past of this exciting city. Thanks a lot, Tommaso - great job !Written July 28, 2021

- fredvan230 contributionsUnbelievable experience !Rented Tomasso’s boat for my son (13) and myself in late August and it was absolutely perfect ! Tomasso knows the lagoon like his pocket and drove us perfectly to Murano San Michelle and Poveglia! As we still had time after he took us to a wonderful little bar to get a fresh drink ! So a perfect host for a true Venesian experience !Written November 2, 2020
- kmgard0 contributionsCarefree way to explore the lagoonThere's no better way to get to know a place than a guided tour from someone who grew up there. Tommaso was kind, knowledgable, patient, and flexible! We were traveling with our toddler and our dog, so this private tour was the ideal way to experience the Venetian lagoon without feeling stressed or worried we're hassling other people. Be sure to ask him for advice on local food and eateries. We've been to Venice many times (we live nearby), and this was the first time we ate really well.Written July 6, 2020
- momocontramundum0 contributionsSuch a great experience! I highly recommend it.I booked a solo tour and it was an absolute highlight of my entire holiday in Italy. Tommaso was great - friendly, helpful, experienced, professional. I enjoyed the tour throughout. I can fully recommend booking a boat tour, and I plan to return for further tours next year.Written September 17, 2019
- Harrisonperth0 contributionsNorth lagoon family cruise on "El Sultan"Amazing afternoon visiting the Northern lagoon Islands with Tommasso at the helm. Lovely boat, friendly and historically knowledgable skipper and beautiful scenery and places to visit with flexibility of itinerary.. If you want to get away from the tourist crowds and see some more of the lagoon at your own pace then I don't think you could do better. The family and I will be back for sure.Written August 10, 2019

- Pat700 contributionsGreat tour!We had a wonderful family tour and experience with Tommaso! He was always on time and available, gave great advice and we were completely flexible in the route planning. We loved that we could also do a swim stop close to the island of San Erasmo. - CLCCalifornia0 contributionsUnique and picturesqueWe took the 3 hour North Lagoon Tour on July 2, 2019 with Tomasso, the owner of the company. The tour exceeded our expectations and was worth the cost. Similar to having a guided driver on land touring a port with you, this tour offered picturesque sites you cannot see inside the city of Venice, plus such a knowledgeable guide who offered an excellent historical perspective on the city. Tomasso was extremely personable and flexible in offering us alternatives during the 3 hours we spent with him. The boat was very comfortable with padded cushions (I don't think it looks as comfortable on the website) and it had lots of shade with the canopy.Written July 8, 2019
- BilliethePink0 contributionsNorthern Lagoon TourFantastic! Tommaso is a wonderful guide. His English is excellent - as is his sense of humour! We loved our time on board El Sultan. It helped us and our children to understand Venice in a way that's not possible from the city alone. Educational and highly enjoyable. We will be back in Venice next year - and we will definitely be booking another trip with Tommaso. Very highly recommended.Written April 16, 2019

Our captain was Leonardo who was excellent. Communication ahead of the cruise was good with Leonardo sending us a WhatsApp message to confirm he was at the meeting point.
We were a party of 4 adults and were joined on the cruise by 2 other couples making 8 passengers total. There was plenty of room on the boat for all of us.
We got underway with Leonardo telling us all about the local history. He was very knowledgeable, spoke excellent english and answered any questions the passengers had without any problems.
We set sail at 6pm and it wasn't long before the prosecco began to flow with Leonardo keeping our glasses full. I am not a prosecco fan but it was nice and refreshing to sip as we sailed around the lagoon, taking in the views as the sun began to set over Venice.
The trip took just under 2 hours and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Leonardo was an excellent host from start to finish.
In short, we would recommend.

We went at 5:00pm on our first evening in Venice. We were very fortunate with the weather which was a warm sunny evening so a perfect sunset during the cruise. Skipper, Tommaso, was courteous, friendly, funny and knowledgeable. The 2 hr boat trip was very relaxing, aided by endless Prosecco top ups! We learnt a lot & felt we had a better understanding of the history, islands & buildings of Venice, all at a leisurely pace. We had plenty of communication and information beforehand, but some participants still turned up late. Tomasso waited, but make sure you know where the pick up point is and leave enough time. Lots of photo opportunities. Highly recommend.

Incredible sunset cruise in a beautiful traditional Venetian craft, seeing the less frequently travelled parts of the lagoon. It was especially lovely to see the international galleries used in the Biannale exhibitions from the water. Wonderful guide, very knowledgable and charismatic. The trip also had lots of Prosecco. Overall a fantastic cruise, I would recommend to all who are visiting Venice as a must do.

My family and I had the great pleasure of being guided by Tomosa on his classic Venetian styled boat. Honestly, it wasn’t the boat, the possible sunset, or anything else that made the trip it was Tomosa. Hands down an exceptionally smart, humorous, and well spoken skipper. My husband and I enjoyed his stories and wit so much that we almost had to be reminded to take pictures. He was organized by explaining to us what we were doing, where we were going and when we would do certain things. I found him to be considerate of our elderly group member to ensure she made it into the boat safely. We just had such a great time with him and learning some of Venice’s history. My husband and I love naval history and seeing Venice from this perspective was so much fun. We drank Prosecco, the whole bottle. I would highly recommend take a cruise with him, sunset, no sunset… it’s still an absolute blast to talk to him and hear all the wonderful historical stories.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our boat tour with Leonardo and six other passengers (three other couples). We loved hearing about nearby island communities and learning more about the history of the area. Leonardo answered many questions and was gracious with all of us. I appreciated his safe driving as we had been on a boat tour in another country where the boat driver was drinking along with the guests. Leonardo was very fun while also abstaining from drinking! He does need to correct one detail in his commentary- George and Amal Clooney were not married at The Cipriani, they had a picnic lunch served there the day after they were married in Venice at the Aman Venice Hotel

Great way to see Venice from the water in a small group setting. Tomasso was an excellent guide that shared lots of information about the city, it’s history and the surrounding islands. He was also very generous with the Prosecco! Definitely recommend!

This tour is a must-do! Our tour of the lagoon surrounding Venice was outstanding. Tomasso was our guide, and he has lived in Venice all of his life, so he was extremely knowledgeable of Venetian life in additional to knowing the city’s rich history. Tomasso is extremely personable and his love for his hometown made the time with him even more enjoyable. We were able to see all sides of Venice from the water during the tour, sipping on Prosecco throughout the trip. As we walked through Venice the next day, we kept thinking of questions that we wished we had asked Tomasso, and at the end of the day, we ran into him on the water shuttle, and he happily answered a few more questions. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed this tour - it was the highlight of our entire time in Venice. Thank you, Tomasso!

We had so much fun on this tour! It was all adults (I think we just got lucky) and we shared bottles of Proseco with about 10-12 other guests while our very experienced and knowledgable guide took us in and around Venice waterways, including many of the islands that you don't always see on the bigger tours. And, our guide knew a lot of history of local sites that you probably don't get with the more commercial tours. I think everybody had a great time and also enjoyed the timing of this tour - late afternoon that turned into early evening. Very nice excursion all around!

My husband and I are coming to Venice February 2020 around the carnival time to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, do these sort of trips happen at this time of year? I'm not sure what the weather etc is like then.

Normally in that period we're closed but send us an email and we'll try to find an accomodation.

I would like to book this for July 9th. I would only do the time that would include the sunset!! What time would you recommend me booking for?
you,
Christine

I mentioned this to my wife when I noticed our sunset cruise was starting at 5p. We knew the sun would not be setting by 7p, but wanted to take the cruise anyway and we’re so glad we did. It was a beautiful cruise where we got to see other islands and our guide was excellent in telling the history of Venice in a fun and entertaining way. Well worth it! I don’t recall having a choice in the time for our cruise.

Hi, I am thinking of bringing my mother on this trip tomorrow. We have a 6month old baby with us. Can we still come?
Thanks, Sara
Written March 27, 2019
I would not recommend taking a small baby on the boat ride. The beautiful island-hopping tour is a 2-3 hour slow ride around the major islands surrounding Venice on a small open boat (with no shade) that carries about 10-12 people comfortably. The boat has only two rows of bench seats that face each other, with no way to stand up or walk around. It's a very scenic tour and even romantic for couples. If your baby is extra quiet and doesn't need it's diaper changed in that amount of time, it shouldn't ruin the ambiance, but please consider the other passengers who have paid a lot of money for their undisturbed experience.

Hi, we are coming from Mestre, what is the best way to get to the meeting point for this boat trip at Ospedale?
Written March 14, 2019
You’ll be able to find a few taxis that drop you off at Ospedale when you get out of the train station and head to the main water taxi front. It’ll be very straight forward!

Hi, we would like to book this tour for 6 pm departure. Just have some questions in mind. Each boat has how many passengers? What is the route followed? Is it through the grand canal and include Lido and other island of Venice? Is there any guided commentary regarding the surrounding from the boatmen? How does it compare with private gandola ride? Is it recommended for special occasion?
Written August 15, 2018
The passengers will be just your party. The route will depend on the weather and wind direction. No grand canal. Wonderful views as the sun starts to go down. We went to the northern lagoon, so Burano, Mazzorbo and saw many of the lesser known islands. The boatman talks to you the whole time about Venetian history and about the Venetian people. I would say yes, it’s perfect for a special occasion - if you request it, prosecco can be provided. Highlight for me was listening to nightingales singing (in April/May). It’s not a big boat, and there’s no deck cover or toilet facilities. Chugging through Burano was amazing. Our boatman, Giamba, was utterly charming and so enthusiastic about his city and its people. If you have questions you can email them they are very good and helpful. It s not at all like a gondola ride (not through canals of central Venice) but in my view it has its own authenticity. Would thoroughly recommend.
