The not queuing part was good but there were too many people on the tour and the microphone was very muffled and we struggled to understand the guide. She didn’t really have many informative things to say. When we crossed the bridge of sigh’s she didn’t really say anything, not why it was called that etc. I have been on a previous tour that was so much better. She also rushed through the whole thing and lead us straight outside without even asking if anyone wanted to stay and look around even though we were entitled to do so with our ticket.

My children (8, 11 & 14) were extremely bored.

The tour was awesome, and Marco Busetto was very knowledgeable and entertaining. It lasted more than one two hours, and we were able to ask all the questions we could think of. The group was small (we were 7 overall), so it was very easy to follow and participate. I definitely recommend it!! Without a guide, we would have not got much out of the palace, for it's very big and full of details. You definitely need someone to lead your attention to the right spots and tell you their stories!

Thanks!

Myself and my 12 year old son took part in this tour recently and were very impressed. The organisation was excellent, we were issued with a radio and headset so the tour guide could communicate to everyone in the tour party. There were several tours setting off at the same time, all designed for specific languages - brilliant coordination and mammoth logistics! The tour itself was very informative. It was great to have a living, breathing guide rather than just a programmed electronic tour guide, it meant she could add interesting personal touches and interact with the party. The guide worked well giving everyone time to take in the staggering beauty of the palace whilst not dragging it out for too long (Be warned, there is little to no air flow through the palace so it got very warm very quickly).
A fantastically well organised tour. thank you.

All of the staff we encountered were unhelpful. We arrived a little early and saw a lad with Tours written on his bag. We told him what tour we were there for and he basically said it was nothing to do with him and that we should ask someone else. What a surprise when we actually found the meeting point and the guy handing out the audio devices and earphones was the very same one who, 10 minutes earlier, had told us he had nothing to do with our tour. We then met the tour guide, Marco, who spent the whole tour expressing how fed up he was with doing tours - even saying, on more than one occasions when we passed the sign, that Uscita (Exit,) was his favourite sign. He spent much of the tour being rude about other visitors who were not on our tour. My wife is a recruitment consultant was desperately wanting to give him some career advice (if she could have got a word in edgewise - and believe me it's hard to stop a recruitment adviser doing that) about changing his job if he hated it as much as he appeared to from his actions, words and demeanor. A complete waste of time and money and one of the worst tour experiences we have ever had.

Dear PeteBG_12, we are deeply sorry for what happened. We have always paid great attention to selecting a motivated and professional staff since the quality of the service is a key asset for our company, as should be for any company selling tours and activities, therefore we apologize for the unhelpful attitude of the guy at the meeting point. Concerning the tour guide, we can assure you that almost all of our guides are very fond of their job and known as friendly persons... Unfortunately it might happen that, especially during the peak days of tourism flows in Venice, even the most professional guide of the world might not behave according to the usual quality standards. We have already sent your complaint to the guide asking him to pay more attention to his approach and to customers' satisfaction. Please consider that the Doge's Palace is actually one of our best selling tours and, as you can learn from a quick look at the tour's reviews of our official venetoinside.com portal, is generally appreciated by participants, also for the positive attitude of the guides. Best regards, Elisa Franzoi venetoinside.com

Very informative tour. The historical context really puts things into perspective. The tour guide was well-informed and humorous which made the tour a very pleasant experience.

My family got much more out of this tour than we ever could have gotten walking around on our own. We learned a lot about how Venice was governed and aspects of the culture and how Venice's history intertwined with the rest of Italy. The guide was excellent and managed to keep things fresh and interesting. We were unsure whether it was worth spending the time on this tour since we had very little time in Venice, but in retrospect we were glad we did because it gave us a much better understanding of the historical significance of Venice

Unique palace to visit, full of history, architecture, and art. You can choose audioguide or guided tour. A lot of amazing views to beautiful city and channels. Rich and representative halls, a lot of beautiful and interesting details. Suggestion: take a plenty of time for a visit, it is not palace to run through.

The guide was very nice. We spent around 1.5 hrs touring around the Dodge. The place is fantastic, with investing the time to get to know it.

We met the rep near the palace and he handed us tickets and headphone set, which allowed us to hear the guide (I struggled to keep the earpiece in, so if you have your own I think you could use them).

We went straight in and the tour was very informative and the guide knowledgeable. The palace is stunning so take the opportunity you will not be disappointed.

Good thing to know is that the ticket which in itself costs 16 Euros allows you into other museums in St Marks and valid for a few months.

Good value for money; I thought.

To see the building was impressive but I’m afraid the guide was droning on in monotone with no humour that was frankly boring, that at least half the tour , like us, drifted off to view the place on our own. Probably luck of the draw as the guy from same company we had for st Mark’s Basilica was great. Also should have been warning about amount of stairs as one guy was really suffering.

Dear MallorcaFamily, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you were not satisfied with the tone used by the guide during the explanation provided at the Doge’s Palace. In fact, all our licensed guides are carefully selected and communication skills are of course among the selecting criteria, so we were surprised to read you found her boring. Anyway, improvement in their approach is always possibile and desired, so we will take your opinion into account and will share it with them. On the other hand, we are pleased to hear you fully enjoyed the explanation of the guide in charge with the other tour you took in St. Mark’s Basilica! Kind Regards, Sara Zanardo venetoinside.com
