About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 124Julie0 contributionsBest private tour ever!!Allesandro couldn’t have shown us a better tour. The first day, he researched our family home in Cloz and took us to see the sites and to buy some copper made in the area for more than a hundred years. The second day, he took s on a Grand Tour of the Dolomites. He is obviously in live with this area. We had a great day! He watched the weather and arranged our days so the weather would be the best in the Dolomites. Memories for a lifetime!!!Written September 13, 2024
- Michael M0 contributionsThe gateway city to the DolomitesBolzano is a historic city and the gateway to the Dolomites. It is beautiful and walkable. Many attractions, good food and wine.Written June 29, 2024
- Susan J0 contributionsVery personal and special tour in the dolomitesWe can’t say enough good things about our tour with Alessandro in the dolomites. He did an exceptional job showing us this magnificent part of northern Italy. It was not easy for him that day because the weather was a bit rainy, so some sites were not as visible as we all would’ve liked. But he made up for this with all of his interesting stories, Friendly personality, beautiful towns, and magnificent lakes. It was also easy to reserve the trip with him online, and our correspondence was excellent.Written June 27, 2024
- Q5200GQannettem0 contributionsA truly amazing experience with a great guide & driverWe recently enjoyed a full day excursion from Bolzano up into the magnificent Dolomites. Our guide & driver Alessandro Scacchetti collected us at our front door at 8.30am and delivered us safely back after 5.00 pm. He tailored the tour to suit the changing weather of the day and in doing so we were blessed with some extraordinary views. Alessandro is passionate and knowledgeable and a local of Bolzano and we were privileged to be in his company. We highly recommend Alessandro and the excellent service he provides.Written June 21, 2024
- graerg0 contributionsExcellent 'Best of Turkey' tour by World ExpeditionsThe itinerary was excellent, the accommodation very good, and the guide (Tolga) was fantastic. [The weather was also very good, and so too was the add-on balloon ride in Cappadocia.]Written June 20, 2024
- neil22520140 contributionsEnchanting place to base a trip to DolomitesBolzano must be one of the most under rated places in Italy as a tourist destination. It is the listed as the gateway to the Dolomites and certainly lives up to that tag. The town is enchanting and is a natural hub to all the Dolomites have to offer. Bus system is great and enables visits to nearby destinations with ease. There is plenty to see and do - I am talking about hiking and sight seeing v skiing. Plenty to do.Written May 17, 2024
- 3BAlex0 contributionsBolzano - Best of the DolomitesWhen a tour guide has a great sense of humor and has passion for what they are showing it makes for a great time. The wrong guide can ruin a trip and the right guide makes even a mediocre trip memorable. We had the best of both. Take the cable car to the top for breathtaking views. Alessandro is knowledgeable and brings the area to life. For an added bonus be sure to ask Alessandro to show you some of the more fascinating animals to be found in the Dolomites, including the feared Chupa Sangre :) We very highly recommend Alessandro as the best of the best in terms of private tours in the Dolomites.Written March 27, 2024
- Lfrank20240 contributionsDolomities Private TourAlex is a great tour guide who made a good suggestion for us to change the date of tour due to bad weather. Eventually, we enjoyed both eastern and western tours in perfect weather conditions so that we can see the best of Dolomities. Highly recommended!Written February 22, 2024
- H2203MZjackh0 contributionsWonderful day touring the DolomitesThe views were incredible. Took dozens of photos and made as many memories. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. If you’re looking to hike, do not do the all day tour - it is designed so that you can truly see everything noteworthy in just one day, and you’ll be out of the car a good amount, but there is a lot of driving. Can cross this off the bucket list, but surely want to go back and do a hike or two in these fantastic mountains.Written October 16, 2023

- Camper282975973620 contributionsAmazing tour with a friendly and knowledgable guideAlex was absolutely fantastic and we couldn't have been more pleased with the tour. My family had only one day to spend in the Dolomites and we feel we had the best possible experience within our limited time frame. Alex is a local from the area and knows exactly the right places to bring you and the right times to avoid crowds/traffic. He offers a very full day that includes the major sights, and he is also flexible and can tailor the schedule to your preferences. For instance, we passed a castle that caught our eye and he squeezed in a quick stop for us to see it. In short, we wholeheartedly recommend taking a tour with Alex!Written September 6, 2023
- dorisw200 contributionsExtremely thrilling, surprising, adventurous and exciting trip to the origin of beings in the DolomitesThe entire trip was more than perfectly organized and extremely well-conducted by a very friendly and well-structured guide named Alessandro. Everything was very safe and informative and Alessandro is just the guide to book for the Dolomites. Alessandro taught us a lot and he used every single minute to share his knowledge. He was also very entertaining by sharing many interesting facts and stories as well as unusual and astonishing anecdotes. However, he also gave us enough time to spend on our own, but he was always there to help and to instruct or to inform. We would say you would not be able to get any better guide than Alessandro. We will definitely do more trips with him in the future.Written August 31, 2023

Greeted by our guide Alessandro (Alex) with a wide smile and contagious positive personality. What a great start.
As we drive out of Bolzano Alex explained to us the days agenda. About an hour in we stopped by a small lake we walked around. Perfect stretch of the legs with beautiful vista of the Dolomites.
We proceeded up 27 switchbacks to a gondola. Understanding these are very thin roads…Alex deftly handled the driving keeping us all confident and comfortable.
Once up the gondola we did short hikes with unbelievable gorgeous views!
We came back on a gorgeous road and it was an amazing day!!
The star of the show was Alex. He was funny, informative, and super accommodating.
When he drove away I realized I was going to miss him!!
Highly recommended!!!

My wife and I had Alessandro arrange three tours, one on the Dolomites Western Road with him, a transfer from Bolzano to Lake Misurina and a transfer from Lake Misurina to Venice. The best was a tour with him. He has great energy and happily shared his expertise and the surroundings were beautiful “topped off” by a cable car trip from 7,000 to 10,000 ft where we could spend more than an hour in 360 degree breathtaking beauty. In the other trips necessary transfers became comfortable sightseeing opportunities. Couldn’t be better. If you are going to the Dolomites go with Alessandro. Jan and Jerry

Alex was so informative and accommodating. Really he lets the day be yours - spending the time at beautiful places at your own rate of enjoyment. He never rushed us through any portion of our day. We truly felt he gave us the best day possible of the Dolomites. He even went beyond and gave us suggestions for day trips on our own. We would highly recommend this tour.

My husband and I took this tour on July 4th, 2018 during our stay in Schenna and it was, without a doubt, an excellent decision. I booked this tour months in advance, and thank god I did because each tour is completely private. Our tour guide was Alex. I contacted him the day before through whatsapp and he immediately replied back so communication was excellent. It was also anticipated to rain on the day of our tour so Alex was gracious enough to pick us up 1 hour early as a way to make the most of our day before the rain. The tour actually states that the meet up is in Bolzano but he had no problem picking us up from Schenna, which is like 25-30 min away. Once he arrived, he immediately showed us his map and asked us how we wanted to do the trip... "would you like to see Lake Bries first which is considered the most famous or start of with a more hidden gem, Lake carezza?" We appreciated that he cared to give us the best tour possible so we went with his suggestion of Lake Carezza. The tour was just with us and him. He keeps it completely private which I appreciated. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the dolomites and answered many of our questions. Alex understood that I had a love for lakes so he stopped at 2 more lakes then what is advertised on the tour (so a total of 5 lakes). We greatly appreciated that. Overall, this was an incredible tour and I would strongly suggest everyone to consider taking it, especially if you are in the dolomites without car. You will see the best of the dolomites and you'll be going through roads that you might not otherwise use if you are unfamiliar with the territory. It was a lovely trip and we are so happy to taken it with Alex as our tour guide.
All the photos I've posted are my personal photos through an iPhone. The photo of Lake Carezza looks like a painting but I assure you that the lake is truly that beautiful. If the reader has even a bit of hesitancy, please do not be afraid to DM me with any questions. This tour is worth the cost. You will have a great 8-10 hours.

Wow. What a great experience.
We did this tour from Venice. It is a little out of the way for Alex, but it was no trouble to be picked up and driven into the heart of the Dolomites. Alex was a most knowledgeable and attentive guide.
He spoke good English, and helped us get the most out of our day.
We were lucky to see a good sprinkling of late snow, and were captivated by the beauty of the lakes and landscapes.
He took special care when one of our party was a little motion sick.
Thank you Alex for a great day. We wish you all the best.
We would highly recommend this tour with Alex.

Alex is an excellent tour guide who knows the area well including history and culture. The day was unfortunately overcast but with Alex's encouragement, I took the tram up the mountain and the view from the top was spectular. The top of the mountain was above the clouds and in the sun shine. You looked out onto a see of clouds with the mountain peaks rising up out of the clouds into the blue sky. Amazing.

I'm really happy that you could experience this rare experience of the ocean of clouds downstream while the sun shone at 10,000 feet ... They are natural phenomena that happen very rarely!

We booked the Great Dolomites Road tour and it was fantastic! Alessandro is a very experienced driver and a very knowledgeable guide. He made us feel very comfortable and took us to beautiful places as described in the tour listing, with all the time needed with no rush. The weather at the time was very variable and Alessandro assisted us in choosing the right day and the right tour. If we go back to Bolzano we will definitely book another tour with ItalyDolomites and Alessandro.

Alessandro drove our group of six (including three teenagers) through some of the most stunning scenery any of us have ever witnessed. He was a perfect tour guide. He suggested an earlier start time to avoid rain that was forecast for the afternoon, and reorganized our route to avoid the crowds of high season. His timing was impeccable: it rained briefly while we were driving but was otherwise fine for our walks, and we beat the crowds everywhere we went. He brought us to many beautiful places but let us determine the length of time we would stay in each. A particularly thoughtful touch was providing water and warm jackets. Alessandro was very considerate of everyone’s comfort in the car, letting us know we could stop at any time if the hairpin turns became too much to take. He’s incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the South Tyrol area and answered our many questions with good humor, and even provided dining recommendations for Bolzano after the tour. I can’t recommend his tours highly enough. If any of us in our group ever have the good fortune to be in Bolzano again we would absolutely book his services for another outing. Thanks so much, Alex, for providing us with such a memorable experience!

Yes, it's a bit expensive, but worth every penny. Alex was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We had a great day exploring the Dolomites with him. This is definitely the way to make the most of a trip to the Dolomites when you only have a short time to see the area.

Alessandro Scacchetti (Alex) really knows the Dolomites. We thought of renting a car and trying to see them ourselves, but paying him was worth every euro and more! He LOVES these mountains, and knows where to go to see them, explain the history and geography, and get fantastic photos. If you look at personalized or private tours on Viator, or ToursbyLocals and read the reviews, you are likely to see it is Alex that did the tours. ItalyDolomites is his personal website so go there to make arrangements and contact him.
My wife and I went when there were covid restrictions in Italy and we were concerned about spending the day with strangers. He gave us a private tour, let us choose where to go and how long to spend, knowing that I wanted the chance to take some great photos. He did not disappoint. We took great lake pictures, took the cable car (funivia) at Sass Pordoi to get spectacular views of the mountains and the valleys, ate lunch and toured the gorgeous town of Ortisei in Val Gardena, and ended with the Val di Funes for a must have photo. His English is excellent, and he is outgoing and a delight to be with. We spent the day with him and the time passed quickly as every back road we took had beautiful views. He has spent his life with these mountains and knows exactly where to go and how to get there. He is a fantastic guide. Seeing the mountains is one thing; sharing his passion for them made it exceptional.

Hi - Our son can get car sick especially on roads that have lots of turns. Do you find that your guests can get motion sick on this trip?
What type of car is used to transport everyone? How many persons fit in the vehicle?
Do you plan to be open July 2021?
Thank you,

Hello Alex,
My wife and I will be staying at the Therme Merano hotel 13 October to 20 October and are interested in a day tour of the Dolomites in that period -- possibly Monday, 14 October, or the next three days. Is it possible to schedule a tour in that period, and could you pick us up in Merano? What is the difference in price if we meet you at the train station in Bolzano? We are 86 and 76 years old and in good condition, but not interested in long hiking. We welcome your comments.
