What to expect
  • Meet your guide in front of the Milan Duomo, and—if there are more than six people on the tour—don headphones so you won’t miss anything your guide says. Admire the exterior of the cathedral before going inside, contemplating the nearly 600 years it took to finish construction and the seemingly endless array of statues and spires that decorate the Duomo. Follow your guide right past the lines on this skip-the-line tour, entering the dimly-lit cathedral. Learn about some of the lesser-known architectural and design features—including some symbols that are usually associated with paganism—as well as some of the cathedral’s prominent elements. See paintings, sculptures, and stained glass windows decorating the vast interior space—the largest cathedral in Italy—and hear how Milan’s Duomo fits into the city’s history. Go beneath the Duomo floor into the crypt below the altar to see the tomb of Saint Charles Borromeo, a 16th-century archbishop of Milan. The tour finishes back outside the cathedral in Piazza Duomo. Note that you’ll need to choose either a weekend or weekday departure. This tour does not include a visit to the Duomo rooftop.

We visited Milan just over a month ago. Of course, the Duomo was on the MUST list. Just the outside is a tour worth the visit. And the inside lights visible on the outside at night are remarkable. It's a challenge for Americans to realize how old places in Italy really are.

This house of God is incredible. Our guide was well spoken, knowledgeable, Andy patient with all of us. The history and construction of this massive Cathedral was most impressive.

Having put off purchasing the Last Supper as we had discussed, I purchased these Milan Walking Tour tickets the night before! Best decision for a sprinkly weather day. We were in a group of 6 English speaking couples, and our guide used our headsets well. We saw a smaller very important nunnery, then the Duomo, the Last Supper and the Castle Sferza. Our tour guide, Annatella(?) built on our knowledge of history place by place, reminding us of significant iconography and artists along with all the dates and important world happenings.
Best decision we made in Milan! Choose the walking tours!

We started late, had technical difficulties with the guide mic, then one part of the group had problems at security. That resulted in a shortened tour as they had to keep going to continue to the roof.

Fortunately for us, we had booked the roof and interior separately. So we were able to stay inside and see the rest of the Duomo that we missed on the tour.

Tip: pay for the extra ticket at the booth inside the Duomo to see the excavations under the plaza. You can see the foundations of the previous cathedral AND the pre-Christian temple that was converted to the first church.

Our tour leader was excellent, but much of the interior of che Duomo was off limits because of setup for a big music concert to be held that evening. This was very disappointing, but not at all the fault of our tour or tour leader. I recommend this highly.

Guide was friendly, interesting; good history of the Duomo. Would recommed doing more than just a guided tour of the Duomo. Vendor site said that was all that was available on the day we wanted; but, when we asked the tour guide - spaces were available for the roof tour - she said we could have done the roof tour. She, however, was not able add us to the group.

The tour was supposed to start at 9:15am. We arrived early at Duomo Square. The tour guide cancelled and a replacement arrived after 10:00am. Tour àfter that was excellent. Beautiful church. Guide was informative, personable and entertaining.

The tour took about an hour, as I didn’t do the roof tour due to fear of heights! The meeting point was easy to find. The guide knew a lot about the duomo and its history. A suggestion for the future; maybe the tour could additionally include a short tour of the outside of the building, to learn something about the carvings and statues etc?

The Duomo was beautiful and the guide was good but the tour went too slowly for us so we left the large group and went off on our own.
We attended mass while our young adults went to explore the rooftop .
This is a great tour and a fast way to see The Duomo.
