Then, pass the lines and head right for the entrance. Stroll through the interior while your guide tells you about the cathedral’s 50 stained-glass windows, thousands of statues, and many works of art. Then, head down the marble staircase to an underground crypt where a 16th-century archbishop is buried. If you’re taking this tour on a weekend, take some free time to explore Milan on your own before re-entering the cathedral. Otherwise, head for the lift to the rooftop. Once you’re up there, take advantage of the views by snapping panoramic photos of the city. Your guide takes you closer to the statues, spires, and gargoyles, and tells you more about the cathedral's history. Afterward, head back down to ground-level, and finish your tour. - SunflowerJYB0 contributionsGood but Switzerland part is time wasting ORDEALIt was fair. We had to skip Lugano because guide said we couldn’t use pictures of our passports like we did on other TripAdvisor excursions, and would not let us go get them. Yet she let ANOTHER couple run get theirs and we waited. The trip DID NOT leave on time and we would have gotten back with the extra delay. She kept saying they would leave us behind. She also said we could not stay on bus instead of Switzerland . Our friends said they did even not check any passports there anyway! They also said the Lugano portion is a complete waste of time. The border was backed up in both directions despite not even checking the insisted upon passports! You are only in Lugano 50 minutes and such an ordeal for just that short visit! The tour was in 2 languages and I know both so it’s kind of tedious having to listen to every single thing explained 2 times in a row! It isn’t really fun doing this for those that only know 1 language either! They should divide this tour into 2 separate tours to AVOID THIS! But they make more money throwing you onto one big bus and just repeating everything. The guide must get exhausted! I sure would! We had to pay our own way back due to skipping Switzerland but we lucked out as our extra ferry ride , visit to the town of Varenna and train ride back to Milan were WAY more fun according to our friends and less tedious than the Switzerland ordeal. We got back 3 HOURS before our friends and had a better time. Lugano makes the trip super long and it is not worth it! The Como, Bellagio and boat ride part is awesome however. If you can do this tour without the Swiss part, it’s GREAT! The only reason they add that is so they can advertise “2 countries”. They should just stay longer on the lake, in Como and Bellagio. 50 mins in Switzerland is NOT worth all that extra driving time, the wait, and the ordeal.Written October 29, 2024
- Road7230660 contributionsWhirlwind Day TripNot being familiar with Milan, I was worried about being able to find the bus. However, it was very easy to find and the passenger list was posted on the side of the bus making it simple to identify which bus was mine. I always knew it would be ambitious to visit three cities in one day, however, it was a good overview and gave me a good idea of places I would like to come back and spend more time. If there was anything I would change about the trip, and this is no fault of the operator, it would be that half of the people on the trip, believe themselves to be influencers, which is highly annoying.Written October 27, 2024

Unfortunately, the security guidelines were not communicated to us in time, only on site, so we had problems with glass and one of us had to leave the tour so that we didn't have to throw away expensive possessions. Unfortunately, there was also no option to store anything on site before entering, e.g. in lockers or similar. There was no money back. In any case, I thought the 70 euros per person was too much for the service. The interior of the cathedral was beautiful but not overwhelming (comparable to Cologne Cathedral), and the information about it was OK. Not the whole church was discussed, just individual points. The roof and the information about it were very worthwhile, however. However, I find the title a bit misleading. You have to queue twice because of security (once to enter the cathedral, once before climbing to the roof). Overall, it was too long for me and I was really knocked out. And as I said, it was associated with security stress and poor communication beforehand. If you're short on time, I only recommend the roof. The tour inside is only moderately worthwhile. The free museum is interesting at first, but it also takes far too long.
During the tour, there was also not always enough time for pictures.

Liebe Marijana,
Herzlichst
Davide

Guide was terrific, your was a mess. We were not told we’re to meet up so spent an hour trying to solve the puzzle. This problem repeated on a second tour at sforza Castle, so it appears to be a feature of the program not a big. To make matters worse, the Duomo tour was waylaid by steady rain making the rooftop slippery and creating a long line. No fun waiting in the rain on a slippery roof top for an hour while the line snakes around the roofline and down slippery steps.

Dear Johathan, the meeting point was clearly indicated in your voucher and luckly you could be able to reach it at around 2:13pm (the tour starting time was at 2:15pm so you were in time).
Furthermore in the square there was a big stage in front of the meeting point (so it was not easy to find it) and everything was set up for a concert that would have been take place on the day after, but for sure you forgot to mention this in your review.
The Sforza Castle tour was not belonging to our company so better if you write this part of the review in the correct tour page.
Last but not least it was raining and there was a lot of people on the rooftops, true, but it was not our fault, i suggest you to write this on the Duomo Cathedral Tripadvisor page.
Best Regards
Davide

I would not recommend spending your money with this tour. Our tour guide was very sweet. However, she kept playing with her microphone and would wander away from the entire tour group!! There was a point where we just had a self guided tour because many of our group lost our tour guide. We also spent extra money on the skip the line tickets. We did not get to skip the line when we went to the roof of the Duomo. We had to wait in line like everyone else. For the most part this was a self guided tour and still had to wait in line. I would recommend the cheaper option. I would have given 1 star but the Duomo was beautiful so that is why it gets 2

Dear Peter,
as you can understand everybody have to queue for the rooftop as you have to pass the security check, anyway for the booked groups (like ours) the queue is faster, furthermore you skip the line to get tickets at the ticket office (1 hour waiting), but for sure you forgot to mention this.
Anyway thanks for your feedback.

Not to be missed! The craftsmanship is just crazy amazing. If you’re mobile enough, highly recommend going to the roof to see the work more closely. You can get an elevator part of the way up, but the rest and down is stairs. This is a stunningly beautiful building!

Absolutely superb.
Our guide Chiara was very friendly and took time to get to know a little about us and the rest of our group. She was full of fun and clearly passionate about her city and her topic. The tour was full of interesting facts and figures of the cathedral both indide and out. The use of the lift to go up to the roof was most welcome and it was quite busy up top but worth it for the amazing views and close ups of the spires and statues
Highly recommended

As cathedrals go this is very nice we didn’t do the roof top tour as it was pouring down it’s worth a visit if you like this kind of stuff or just to say you’ve been in
Don’t go if you are wearing shorts above your knees as they ask you to go and buy a cape from the ticket office €3 so be mindful when planning your visit and it’s like airport security before you enter
However the only thing I do disagree with as a Roman Catholic is paying to enter a church and it doesn’t matter which country I go to

Dear Jilly,
thank you for sharing your thoughts, we would like to point out that it is clearly written that to enter the cathedral it is necessary to cover your knees and shoulders and that we are not the ones who sell for 3 euros garments to cover yourself, but the cathedral itself does that.
As for the entrance for the faithful it is always open, of course it is not the same as taking a guided tour.
Sincerely
Davide

Extremely disappointing visit. To avoid. First we announce a group of up to 25 people, which in terms of Award is already a lot. Actually, there were 28 of us... Then we tell you skip-the-line tickets. After finding our Guide, and our (large) group here we are queuing for more than half an hour before taking a small elevator ( 8 people max) to reach the rooftops. When we got to the top, we had to wait for everyone to come up. We thought the tour would have started, but not at all... Guide's microphone broke down. We waited another 10/15 minutes for a new microphone to arrive. Finally, the tour began. The explanations were thin and uninteresting. One wonders what training the Guide received. And it took 45 minutes
In summary, we paid 140 euros for 2, we waited and we learned nothing.

Cordialement

Enlightening, educational and professional guide directed us through the Duomo, beginning with the front doors to the massive interior space. Information on history and architecture of the building and it's contents. Could have spent hours inside. As if there wasn't enough to see, we then went up the elevator to the roof. The views of Milan are incredible. Getting a closer view of the statuary adorning the building was also incredible. I can see why this is one of the top spots to tour in the City. Definitely recommend this tour.

The tour was okay. The tour guide, while she spoke English, spoke way too fast. It was hard to understand her English. She explained the inside of the church and talked about the rooftop while we were inside the church since it was raining. Once we got up part way it was heavy rain. The tour basically ended there. She said she would take those that needed the lift to go up to the rooftop to the lift and the rest who could walk the steps could go up. I’m sure weather was a factor, but felt like she was just glad to have it end without heading up for the rest of the tour. Our ticket included the museum that we could do on our own - so at least we learned more there.

Dear,
thank you for sharing your thoughts, we are sorry that you were not able to fully understand the guide's explanation, surely as you also said, the heavy rain prevented a normal course of the tour, which nevertheless lasted 2 hours and allowed you to see both the cathedral and the terraces, as described.
Definitely what you did not expect was the rain because otherwise we did everything as planned.

The Duomo is not to be missed. Highly recommend this tour as you get priority access to the terraces by elevator. Our guide, Marta, was wonderful...very knowledgeable, friendly and kept up a good pace. Easy to understand, and with the individual audio systems, you never missed what she was saying.

Hello
The tour company called and told me that the time needed to be moved up due to some concert being held at the Duomo. U fortunately this did not work for us as we do not arrive early enough in Milan. So i told them we would have to cancel. However I received a 100% cancellation fee warning because this was issue the 24 hour window. I should not be charged for a tour where they changed the time.
