We took the Friday Dolomites day trip from Riva Del Garda. We were picked up from the port around 9am and then headed via the autostrada to the mountains.

The scenery is spectacular - soaring mountains, dense forests and beautiful villages. You can clearly see the Austrian influence in the architecture.

We had a few stops along the way - in the morning for coffee & strudel, then at the Pordoi pass for lunch and the optional cable car ride to the highest point and then a final stop at Ortisei.

The stops are brief, the longest is about 2 hrs at Pordoi and with the whole trip taking about 11 hours you can expect to spend a long time on the bus.

Our guide – Thomas from Denmark – was great. He was informative but very funny and really made the trip a bit more special. His colleague - Sadie the driver – is an outstanding driver and he also has a big personality.

Overall, a great trip. Be prepared for a bus marathon but if you’re lucky enough to have Thomas & Sadie you’ll have a lot of fun.

I decided to do this trip by myself as was too much for my husband and so pleased I did it was the first trip I've ever done alone and it blew me away definitely worth it and I made a friend who was also travelling alone.
Booked it with GetyourGuide and Anna was the perfect host very informative with information and quite funny.
Started early morning at Sirmione 6.40am and didn't get back till 8pm as we hit a bit of traffic but well worth it the views are breathtaking and the villages are beautiful it was a lovely hot day and couldn't have been more perfect loved all of it

Booked this trip through our travel company, absolutely fab, what a shame the weather turned so we couldn't get the cable car to the mountain top, but still some lovely views, would recommend if you love scenery, thouroughly enjoed.

I was on a tour with Newmarket Holidays. They knew the day before the tour was due to take place that due to weather over the past few days the pass up to the Dolomites was shut. However, they picked us up asarranged and once the coach was full explained that we were doing something different to the schedule due to the pass closure.

We went no where near the Dolomites, so the trip was not what I paid for. Extremely disappointed, they could have given us the option to cancel the day before.

We were very pleased to be a short walk to the pick up spot in Gardone. We approached the driver, along with others from the area, and were seated on the bus at 7:10am. We then waited for another bus to arrive with additional people from the east side of the lake. The tour guide was also on the other bus. Once we were all underway, we only had another three stops for pick ups before we were on our way. It's a big bus, with comfortable seats. Plenty of stops were made for restrooms. The tour guide gives you an amazing amount of information about the areas you are passing and stopping at. The guide seemed concerned about traffic since it was a holiday week, not actually the holiday, which was three days away. We arrived at the first stop, about 2 hours into the journey. The apple strudel and cappucino were good, but the entire affair felt rushed. You had enough time for the strudel, since it was all precut and waiting for us. The entire stop was half an hour to 40 minutes. Back on the bus, for a long, curvy ride up the mountain. It's very slow going and dizzying, at times. Once we arrived at this stop, you had an hour and a half. The main purpose of this stop is to take the 5 minute ride up to the top of the mountain. As we were waiting for the funicular, the tour guide informed us it was too windy to take the funicular to the top, leaving everyone disappointed. Now, we had an hour and 20 minutes to stay in this area which, if you are not going up to the top, there really is nothing else to do, except have lunch...which could be done in 30 minutes. There was three places to choose from, and two places to shop. It's extremely touristy. Back in the bus for another couple of hours to go to what looked like it would be a charming village, Ortesi. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told we would only have 40 minutes. This was a vibrant village with lots of restaurants, lots of shops, and plenty of things to see. There was literally enough time to walk along one avenue before we had to go back to the bus. After that stop, we only stopped once more for the restrooms, while heading back to the Lake. All in all, we gave up 12 hours (we got dropped off at 7:30) and were only not on the bus for about 3 hours. If we were able to get to the top of the mountain, I would have given this tour 3 stars.

What an incredible opportunity to see the Dolomites up close and personal. The tour guide and driver were fantastic and were very helpful and knowledgeable. The view from the top of the cable car was breathtaking and a must see.

Even the stops were a great way to see the culture and enhanced the trip even more!

Breathtaking scenery, beautiful Alpine villages, exhilarating mountain roads, what more can you ask for?
A modern comfortable coach, expertly driven with a fun and knowledgable tour guide (Anna I think)
It’s a long day, 12hours, and hundreds of Km’s in all with lengthy stops, but the coaches aircon dealt well with the hot weather, and at 6’3” tall (1.92m) there was plenty of legroom.
Best trip available in my humble view.

As the whole day unfortunately was going to be heavy cloud with no chance of views, Lyn gave us the option of visiting Merano for a short stop (beautiful town) and then the city of Bolzano where we were able to visit the wonderful museum containing OTZI, the iceman! Lyn is a great tour guide who went out of her way to be helpful and chose superb options instead of leaving us all to be disappointed with the full day tour in thick cloud!!

We left Limone at 8am and returned at 6.30pm. The trip was truly spectacular. The journey over the Pordoi Pass was breathtaking with beautiful villages along the way. The cable car ride to the top of the mountain was exciting and the views at the top were amazing. WE stopped in the beautiful little town of Ortisie on the return journey. I just wish we had had more time to spend in this picture-card town. The courier on the coach, Ambrish, was very funny as well as very knowledgeable.

We had the most amazing trip to the Dolomites. We have been to Glacier National Park in Montana and the Canadian Rockies, but the natural beauty of the Dolomites and all of the Alpine villages along the way surpassed our expectations.
Our guide, Anna, was very knowledgeable about every area we travelled through and was a lot of fun to talk to. The driver was top notch - how he made those 28(?) hairpin turns is beyond me. We were on narrow, mountain roads but never felt unsafe in his hands.
We were thinking of renting a car and doing this trip on our own and we are so glad we decided to go with this tour, instead. It was worth every cent. Be sure to tip the guide - ours went above and beyond.

Hi, really thank you for telling us about your experience, i'm sure this will help more guest to take the right choiche :) Our drivers are prepared and make this itinerary daily and this is very reassuring and important. Driving your own car is always risky, especially if you don't know the location and the weather well. Let us do it for you! And with a guide on board you can stand in coach and chill, learning about the Dolomites and its awesome history. Hope to see you again with another tour on Lake Garda :) Best regards
