- Michael P0 contributionsDo Eat Better Experience - Bergamo Food TourOur food tour with Sara was excellent. She provided a great deal of information about the history of Bergamo and related it to the type food that originated in Bergamo. The food was fantastic and my wife and I were very full because of the abundance of great food. Savory and sweet food, wine, coffee, and more. It was fabulous. Massimo was our guide and he was amazing. He told us about the history of Bergamo, took us to eat at very authentic and local places, and . After the tour, Massimo messaged me with additional information on hiking routes and where we can eat on a Monday night (when most restaurants are closed). He was very engaging, very passionate about sharing his life in Bergamo, and went far beyond what was necessary to make the tour extra special. I highly recommend this tour if you want to spend a few hours eating amazing local food and learning about Bergamo.

This is a brilliant food tour! Our guide, Yuliya was so friendly and knowledgeable, and really took the time to tell us all about the history of the city and the food we were eating. All of the food spots were fabulous, and we tasted lots of new and interesting things. She was also very careful to take into account our dietary requirements - one lactose free, one pregnant and one toddler! I a recommend the tour. It is a great way to experience the city 🙂

Nice city, nice food and nice guide.
We enjoyed the tour with our 4 kids (aged 13-21 years). The tour took 4 hours instead of the announced 3-3,5 hour. Probably due to waiting time for the menues, which was not ordered before we reach the restaurants and cafés.
I have tried similar tours ind Budapest and Gdansk, and both times the meals was booked before we reach the restaurants.
I will suggest you do the same in Bergamo.
The guide liked to order, whatever we liked, but actually, we like to taste, what the guide suggest - otherwise we could have done the tour alone.

If I was reviewing the guide only it would be 5/5. Aira was lovely and very informative about all things Bergamo, both food and culture. However, we have done several tours like this in different cities and feel that three samples of food is not enough on a food tour…2 bowls of pasta, one of polenta and 2 small ice creams for €156!!!! Yes, we had a glass of wine each, a small beer and a coffee but surely in a foodie city like Bergamo more tasters (e.g meat, cheese, dessert) could be provided?

A terrific evening. Massimo was an excellent guide and host. The two of us were joined by a new friend from Sweden. We took a few minutes upon meeting to talk and so introductions.
Then we set off for about a 10 minute walk to the main plaza in front of the Duomo we here we enjoyed spritz drinks and snacks with leisurely conversation about the citte alta.
After that we set off to a lovely garden area where many people were enjoying dinner. More conversation was combined with good pasta and some enjoyable local wine (Massimo is very knowledgeable about wines in Italy).
After about a half hour over pasta we walked another 10 minutes or so to an antique small tavern where we had polenta and I had a beer.
Finally we strolled for another 15
minutes to the place where stracciatella ice cream was invented for an cone.
Finally, Massimo walked us back to near our starting point and we all separated as friends.
A delightful evening.

Our guide, Massimo was amazing and very knowledgeable throughout the entire tour.
It was at a steady pace and he did not rush us or go too quickly. My entire family enjoyed this and would very much recommend this to anyone, especially for their first time visiting Bergumo!

Our tour with Massimo was a lot of fun. We had a great time walking around the city and he showed us the greatest spots to have a good glas of local wine and specialities from the region. All that with some interesting historical facts about the city. We would totally do this again!

Irem, who is originally from Turkey, gave us the tour. She told us all kinds of facts about the Bergamo people and beautiful historical buildings. In between we had the usual 5 course (appetizer, primo, secundo, icecream, coffee) Italian dinner at different traditional Bergamo restaurants. The food is typical for Bergamo, so you get to know and experience the Bergamo eating culture. The food was great and abbundant. The first glass of wine and all the water you want, is included. Everything else you want, you have to pay for. Irem didn’t know the answer to all of our questions, but her enthusiasm more than made up for it. The tour lasted 4hours instead of 3,5 hours. Partially because we had to wait for the food, but also because Iram showed us places that were not included in the tour. That was no problem for her. We loved the tour and would highly recommend it. Thank you very much Iram and never change your enthusiastic quality!

We had a guided tour including 5 stops at local eateries with our guide Massimo. A rich, exciting and rewarding morning. Massimo is a skilled guide and made the lessons together interesting, fun and educational. We gained knowledge about the local eateries, the city's history and exciting conversations about similarities and differences between our two countries. Highly recommended.
