What a wonderful way to explore Genoa. We really enjoyed walking around in our small group listening to Alessandro tell us lots of interesting things about the city and the places we strolled past. The little food stops along the way were traditional and the food was delicious. I doubt we would have found all these places on our own and having a local lead the way was great. It was relaxed and slow paced giving us all time to take it all in and enjoy it. Thank you Alessandro!

Our guide was very knowledgeable. He made us discover Genoa’s history and geography. We had not realized how much we would walk uphill. Despite that we enjoyed our tour very much.

Our recent tour was fantastic, a perfect blend of cultural immersion, culinary delight, and historical exploration. From start to finish, the experience was both enriching and enjoyable. Lovely city with great food and sites. The Maritime & Migration Museums are amazing, the Metro lifts very interesting to see the city, harbours and sea with great views. Do not book the Free Walking Tour as they did not show up. 🙁 Very hot in August- May or September would be cooler.

For anyone considering a visit to Genoa, I cannot recommend Alessandro's tour highly enough. I visited the beautiful city of Genoa for a two-week law fellowship where I had the incredible opportunity to join Alessandro's tour, and it turned out to be the highlight of my stay. Alessandro's ability to tell the city's stories through his songs was truly impressive, and it made the tour an unforgettable experience. Each stop on the tour was paired with Alessandro's beautiful music, which not only entertained but also educated us about Genoa's rich history and vibrant culture. His songs added a unique dimension to the tour, transforming ordinary sightseeing into a journey through time. The sites we visited were breathtaking, and Alessandro's engaging storytelling made each one come alive with historical significance. I was so enamored with the city and the tour that after my fellowship ended, I met my mom in London and convinced her to come back to Genoa with me where together we experienced Alessandro's tour. Spending the day on the tour with my mom was incredibly special, and we both loved how Alessandro's music and stories enriched our understanding appreciation of the city. It was, without a doubt, one of our favorite days in Europe. This tour will leave you with unforgettable memories and a deeper connection to this amazing city!

We had such a fun time with Alessandro on the tour of Genoa! There are so many interesting tidbits about the city and its history. Alessandro kept the tour at a manageable pace (especially with the heat) and was very kind. His stories put to music were especially fun as well! I’d recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about Genoa from a local.

Alessandro was Absolutely Amazing!! This tour did not disappoint! I was so excited to experience a tour of the city that was off the beaten path! There is so much hidden treasure in all the little nooks and crannies that you can not, and will not find on your own. It was so awesome to hear the history of this brilliantly historical town. I really felt like I traveled back in time, as Alessandro so colorfully painted the picture of what took place back in the day...and his beautiful, and personally written, songs was the delicious cherry on top! I Loved this tour! I highly, highly recommend it to everyone! Ciao!

Had a lovely time with Alessandro as he took us to really hidden spots around the Genoa historic centre and sang us cute little songs about historical and legendary characters. I'd recommend this for anyone who is keen to see parts of Genoa that tourists don't go to, to visit very charming little squares and see slices of normal life in this beautiful medieval city.

It’s like going behind the scenes in Genoa because you are not in the “tourist” area. You go up and down old neighborhoods in the hills - so you see buildings with histories and learn how the neighborhoods changed over time and why. The funicular replaces walking the steepest hills. In May the flowers were blooming everywhere and the weather was perfect for sitting and listening to the stories sung by our guide.

This tour was great, we had the opportunity to discover the hearth of Genova in their little streets and tasted the locals' confections, the best focaccia that we had in Italy, the tucco pasta was perfection and there is a little local that has different frittatas, which the Chipola being the crowned one !!! 110% recommend.

The 3 hours walking experience with the guide, Allessandro, explaining and singing about the history and remarkable things happened and happening in Genua was a highlight when visiting this ancient seashore city. Did you know the model for The Primavera painting of Boticceli was a Genova born girl. We know now where she lived.

My wife and I participated in a Genoa Food tour guided by Alessandro Poggi. It was a great experience not only for the atmosphere of the places we visited but also because of the selection of the dishes to taste authentic Genoa Cuisine. In addition to the food, Alessandro is a local guide with an amazing knowledge of the city and its history. It was the perfect evening for us. Alessandro is also totally fluent in Spanish. Alessandro habla Español perfectamente

We had a great evening of walking round Genoa and trying the food and wine. Our guide was terrific, taking us for freshly baked focaccia, wine tastings, traditional local pasta and ice cream. Would highly recommend this tour.

Excellent Tour! We were looking for a food tour that would lead us to some notable/local food establishments, provide some Genoa history, and be reasonable in cost. This tour was ideal. Alessandro was a very good host and took us to many longtime establishments that are frequented by locals but ones that we would not have stumbled upon on our own. I am certain that our group of four enjoyed some of the cities best focaccia(really exceptional), pasta, and gelato(100 percent chocolate!) on this tour. We also stopped for wine and snacks at Genoa’s 100 year old wine shop along the way and tasted some savory baked goods at a unique bakery. We appreciated that Alessandro was able to give this tour in English and Spanish since we accidentally signed up for the Spanish tour but only understand English. Being a local resident and a graduate of the University of Genoa he was able to provide us with interesting historical and cultural facts about the city. We appreciated that it was a smaller tour our evening(6 people) as we were able to enjoy our Spanish speaking tour mates and guide. We all agreed that this was an exceptional tour and would highly recommend it if you are looking for tour with quality local food items and some Genoa history.
