The Hop-on bus is a great value: For just $13 bus goes to San Giusto & Miramar Castles among other places. We really enjoyed visiting both along with audio-guide of Trieste's history - we had just one day so it was the best option. We suggest booking it!

We chose to do the HopTour because my partner had an ankle injury and wasn't able to walk any distance, so we thought we'd at least get to see something if he wasn't able to walk. It was a really pleasant surprise! The tour takes you to all the main sights of Trieste, sparing you the walk in between, but it allows you to get off wherever you want and go back onboard at a later pick up time, with a lot of flexibility. The bus was very clean and comfortable and the audio guide in several languages gives you interesting information about the places you're seeing. The tour is very moderately priced and is a good option for anybody visiting Trieste.

The ride is very affordable yet very detailed. The tour guide is also kind enough to remind us that we are free to hop-on & off anytime for the next 24 hours from our ticketed date & time, as long as they're operational.

Clean modern bus with good audio
The guide was very helpful. It covered the main areas and attractions of the town and you are able to hop off and on at each stop.
During May it was only running 3 days a week as there weren't many tourists around. Good value and starts by the main piazza on the promenade

On a two day visit we saw and did a lot. Trieste is not just a melting pot... It's a melting electric furnace combining Austrian, Italian, and Slovakian heritage to form a unique basis for its own identity. And it's tasty.
High point for our quick visit... Getting great coffee in the café where James Joyce read still unpublished works to his brother.

We thought this would be a good idea to see the sights and save our legs. Unfortunately we got to Miramare and they dropped you off what was said to be 10/15 mins walk but was really a 25/30 min walk (walking fast paced). Coming back when the bus arrived it was full and with a young child we were told another bus was 15 mins away - turned out 30 mins! Bus then had no air con.

My husband, 8yo daughter and I had just a short stay in Trieste which is amazing and thought the hop on/off tour is the most convenient way to see the sights. It was, the bus was clean with ac and we were given guidance as to where to stay a little longer. I found the info audio to be basic sign posts but enough to get your barings. The timing of bus arrivals and departures were accurate but my issue was with the drop off for the Miramar castle. We were told it was a 10 min walk. It was more 30 minutes and it made the tour very rushed so we could ensure we could get back to bus stop for pick up. It was 30 degrees.. we were all shattered before we even got there particularly my daughter. After running around the castle (no time for gardens) the bus was full when it arrived. We had to get a different bus and ended up missing about 3 stops of the tour.

The hoptour was a good option and overall satisfactory. The downside was drop off at castello Miramare, where the guide said 15 minute walk but actually took us 30 minutes. For some reason the bus chooses not to drive through the car park like other cars which can stop just outside the entrance, for a fee.
Incidentally the Castello is not disabled friendly as the galleries are on 2 floors and no lift so wheelchairs only access the ground floor.

A very modern, comfortable "mini" tour bus with clear, high-tech audio facilities.The recorded commentary was informative without descending into purple prose on the merit of each attraction. The vehicle design provides weather protection and yet a clear view.
The route chosen seemed logical and the price for the tour reasonable. Both Ieva, the tour guide, and her coordinator were professional and charming.
