- Catajae940 contributionsFantastic Tour Through Reggio Emilia and ParmaI cannot express how amazing this private tour was. Laura is so communicative and intuitive. She wants to make sure you have an amazing time. I never met her in person but I just know she would have been a vibe if she was giving us the tour that day. I made a mistake and didn't realize that Laura would track my train and be there exactly when the train arrived at 910. Thinking we had a few minutes to grab a coffee and a snack before 930, I felt so bad that Filippo was waiting outside for us. Thankfully, all was forgiven and we were able to head out almost on time. I'm so grateful this was a private tour. It was the 4 of us with Filippo, traveling the gorgeous Emilia Romagna region between Parma and Reggio Emilia. The places you visit aren't set, so you may not go to the exact places we went, but I'm sure they are all amazing. Filippo told us that it varies because these are real working small businesses and honestly, this made me even happier we booked with Laura. We started with balsamic in someone's attic. This was absolutely amazing to see. I hadn't realized all that went into making vinegar this way. It was amazing. I was also shocked at how much I didn't need translated. Was proud of myself! LOL! Next, we checked out a reggiano parmigiano (yes, Filippo told us this is the way you should be saying it, darn Parma for taking the recognition) factory. Seeing the wheels of cheese and getting to taste all of the products was incredible. Then we went to a salumificio, the same place we had an absolutely stunning lunch. And to top it all off, we went to a vineyard and got to try some amazing wine. The vineyard was a surprise to me because when I spoke with Laura she said she would try to fit it in, but it depended on availability. So happy we were able to try their wines (and buy quite a few bottles.) I cannot recommend Laura's Private Parma Food Tour enough. This was an amazing experience that I would do again and again.Written June 25, 2024
- lauriemavesart0 contributionsA great way to learn about the regionLaura was a great tour guide. I highly recommend this tour - a great way to learn about balsamico, the cheeses and meats of the region. Ending with a brilliant lunch, the time spent was well worth the money paid for a private driver and private tour. You couldn’t rent a car and go to the same places without her guidance.Written June 8, 2024
- dillons20200 contributionsWonderful local Parma food tour!Filippo picked us up and even waited extra time for us due to our train being late. Adjusted our tour route to compensate for the train delay and made sure we got to do everything. There was also a huge rainstorm towards the end of the trip but his good driving kept us safe. Then he even helped us get our train tickets back. All the places we visited were wonderful with very friendly people and the products they produce are absolutely the best.Written May 20, 2024
- Q7608XGannet0 contributionsGreat tours and lunch with LauraWe loved having a private guide and driver for this tour. Laura is knowledgeable and informative. My favorite part was the Parmesan cheese factory tour. Ver informative indeed.Written May 10, 2024
- Tour616609718600 contributionsTaste the commitment to these Italian specialtiesLaura and Riccardo took us, just the two of us, on a tour of three small producers of local specialities: Parmegiano Reggiano, prosciutto, and balsamic vinegar. It was inspiring to visit these businesses that are committed to the regional requirements to produce the finest foods. Each product demands patience and years of commitment. So many small businesses are bought up by larger, sometimes multinational corporations, and so much quality is lost. We tasted aged cheese, hams, and vinegars, made with such care and pride. For travelers who wish to experience these uniquely Italian foods, Laura’s tour is a treat.Written May 3, 2024
- sammX902LD0 contributionsAn amazing afternoon in ParmaThis food and castle tour is an unforgettable experience. The meat and cheeses we got to try was out of this world and the castle is unlike anything I've ever seen. Laura and her drive Phillipo were wonderful guides and company. We hope we can take another tour with them soon.Written February 13, 2024
- catharinet190 contributionsA Wonderful Taste of ParmaWe went on a tour with Filippo and had such a wonderful day! We were traveling with our 7-year-old twins and the whole family enjoyed the day. Filippo added so much charm, authenticity, and educational background to the experience. I would highly recommend this tour.Written November 21, 2023
- pmxx0 contributionsGreat food production explained and sampled. My wife and I had good day with Laura and Filippo on a private tour of three small producers of parmigiano, meats and balsamic vinegar. All three producers were proud and enthusiastic about their high quality produce and our guides were friendly and knowledgeable. We bought produce from all three producers after tastings. After our visits we finished off our tour at a friendly local restaurant (part of the tour) before being dropped off at our meeting place in central Parma. A must trip for all food lovers.Written November 13, 2023
- Yoga_in_Italy0 contributionsAuthentic and fun Tour with Tommaso - great English speaking guide. We had a great tour with Tommaso. He picked us up at 9am and drove us first to a Parmesan producer which was totally fascinating. Then we visited a small family run balsamic vinegar producer in Emilia-Reggio - another authentic and super interesting tour and tasting. Finally we visited a small Parma ham producer where everything is made by hand. Tommaso was the perfect guide - young, knowledgeable and charming - he spoke perfect English and gave us just the right amount of information to make the tour fun and interesting. We finished the tour with lunch at a local restaurant enjoying more salumi, tortelli and Lambrusco. Thanks again Tommaso!!Written September 27, 2023
- Stressed20 contributionsPrivate, custom tour well done!Laura’s colleague Fillipo toured with us all day - we did a family owned winery (Fillipo translated the owners Italian), then went to an amazing balsamic vinegar producer (in an old convent I think) then to a ham producer. The ham was the only disappointing part - though didn’t detract from five stars. The pigs weren’t there and he didn’t have much hanging in preparation. But the tasting was great - I just wish we had more to see. Also included was a large lunch on a horse training facility - very cool!Written June 11, 2023
- Travel4FunAZ0 contributionsOutstanding!Laura's colleague, Phillipe, was our private tour guide for the day. He was amazing. He is a local, so he knew everything! He spoke very good English. He met us at the train station, on time. We visited a Parmigiano cheese making facility, boutique Parma ham maker, balsamic maker in Reggio Emilia, balsamic maker in Modena, and the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena. We were impressed with Phillipe's superior knowledge of the tour facilities and the entire region. He was very professional and in-charge. Phillipe also made excellent recommendations for lunch and left it up to us to decide where to eat. We were also impressed that he somehow remained on schedule, as one of our final stops had a specific reservation time which we met on time. We never felt rushed. It was a very relaxing, fun day. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We would also like to thank Laura for her outstanding communication in working with us during the months leading up to the trip. She met with us on a video call two months before our tour and answered all of our questions, in English, and we also exchanged numerous emails and texts. She customized a tour for our wishes. And, her prices were extremely reasonable, far less than her competitors. We can't say enough good things about Laura's tour company.Written March 31, 2023
- Japan11010 contributionsGreat tour of the big three of Parma food - balsamic, prosciutto and parmigiana.Laura took us to small producers of the three most noteworthy of Parma foods - cheese, prosciutto and traditionally made balsamic vinegar. It was so interesting and very low key. The tastings were wonderful. A lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.Written September 18, 2022
- Derek H0 contributionsA day in ParmaWhat a wonderful day spent with Laura! The Parmesan tour and tasting was casual but informative. From there we experience Prosciutto fest in Parma that included tasting several delicious prosciuttos and lessons as well. We finished the day touring Acetaia Picci which was a phenomenal and tasty learning experience. Thanks again Laura for a excellent day!Written September 4, 2022

Highly recommend this tour with Laura and Ricardo. She was extremely responsive and accommodated my last minute booking. She has been a tour guide since 2008 and is extremely knowledgeable on all parts of the visits. We went to a parmigiano reggiano factory, balsamic vinegar producer, and proscuitto maker. She was able to answer all my questions about parts of the production. The places are well selected as she has developed relationships over the years with small batch local producers. The tastings are amazing and highly recommend buying some balsamic made the traditional way!

Laura was amazing and this was a perfect find. She was so sweet, super knowledgeable, and clearly had an inside connection to all the producers that we visited (which I loved). She easily accommodated finding a lunch restaurant with gluten-free options for me too. This was one of the highlights of our trip - thank you Laura!

We had one day only in Parma and sooo wanted to see The Big Three. Our group of four are big foodies and Laura was such a delight! She really knows her stuff and was so patient at answering our million and one questions. We really feel like we got to go behind the scenes and experience close up the production of these wonderful products.
Thank you Laura! We hope to come back, you made us feel very welcome.

On May 10, 2019 I, and several of my family members, had the great pleasure of meeting Laura Panella, a Parma based tour guide who took us on a heavenly gastronomic tour of Parma/Reggio Emilia. The education we received from Ms. Panella that day about the history and production of Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma and balsamic vinegar was priceless, fun and filling! We were particularly grateful for Laura's kindness and patience as we were accompanied by my 93 year old mother-in-law who has cochlear implants to hear and required a wheelchair to get around. At no time during the many hours we spent with Laura did we ever feel rushed and she answered literally every question we had to throw at her. The lunch we were provided [as part of the tour] at the location of the Prosciutto factory merits significant kudos. Upon our return to our hotel late in the afternoon we asked Laura to suggest a dinner location in Parma and her recommendation, Osteria dei Servi, was spot-on delicious. Laura is a gem! If you want a food tour that will educate and make you salivate, I highly recommend utilizing Laura's services.

We were staying in Ravenna for several days and wanted to make a day trip to the Parma area. We searched online for a food tour of the region and found Laura's website. I emailed her about availability and she could take us the next day! She picked us up at the Parma train station and off we went in her car to the countryside around Parma. We toured a cheese factory, ham and salami processing plant, and finished at a producer of craft balsamic vinegar. The entire tour was very educational and enjoyable. Laura only takes small groups, which is much preferable to the big tour bus groups. Her English is excellent and she is a wonderful ambassador for her country.

Thanks to Laura who gave us a great day meeting committed, keen local producers of food and wine in the villages around Parma. Both Laura and all the producers are sincere and passionate about what they do and are genuinely keen to show their skills and products. A particular highlight was the chance to watch the production of the wheels of Parmesan cheese. This is a very interesting day out, and extremely good value for money.

My family and I recently spent the day with Laura in the Parma region of Italy. Her food tour was definitely the highlight of our stay in Italy and I recommend her and the experience without hesitation. Laura is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and her tour was intimate and fascinating. We were able to experience how the locals made cheese, balsamic vinegar, prosciutto, hams and wines and the tastings were delicious. Laura picked us up at our hotel and took us to small, family run businesses in the region, where the owners personally showed us how their made their products (often for generations). We were also treated to an incrediblly delicious lunch at a local restaurant with the friendliest and most accomodating owner ever! Overall this was a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. I urge you to contact Laura for a special, not to miss experience!!!

We took an early train from Milan to meet Laura at the Parma station. We went directly to a the cheese facility then on to a ham production with a coffee stop in between. Lunch at a vineyard then a tour of a balsamic production. Laura was personable and friendly. We did a lot but did not feel rushed at all. We loved the fact that Laura can give you a private tour of each facility without being in a group. We will definitely start doing more private tours like this in our travels.
