Mattia was an outstanding guide and interpreter of Bologna cuisine. He took us to the most amazing markets, cafés and shops. He explained dozens of the region’s unique foods, and the methods used to make them, the attention to detail quality, and the romance and legends and stories that made them so unique. I’ve been on many small sized tours ( they limit the number of gusts to ten), and Mattia is among the best interpreters I’ve ever had.

My husband and I went on this Taste Bologna your today and thought it was excellent. Maria our guide was very knowledgable and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
We had coffee, lunch, snack and an ice cream which were all included and learned all about Bologna at the same time.
We were a small group of only 5 people and we would thoroughly recommend taking this tour.

We had a wonderful food tour with Taste Bologna on October 21. Our guide was well informed and brought the city to life. They explained the evolution of the eating experiences in the city and the uniqueness of the food shopping in the Quadrilatero. We got to try making our own tortellini and tasted many of the local specialties within an historic local wine bar.

Highly recommend booking your own experience with Taste Bologna.

“Breakfast” was one eighth of a cornetto ( crissssnt) and a tiny espresso .Meeting with “artisans” was 5 minutes demo folding a tortellini with a 15 second glance into the shop where pasta was being made. They provided a nice tasting of meats and cheeses in an empty and crude wine bar with a drop of true balsamic but otherwise just a nice walk with a stop for a plate of pasta on a paper olate from a food court, followed by a long walk for two tiny scoops of gelato at the end. Lovely tour leader and operator but the food experience was minimal and the entire felt “ cheap” even to the point if providing small bottles of water - 12 0z size to be shared . For 250 for 2 people expected at least a stop st a oroper trattoria and and interactions with shop keepers, perhaps a bit of background.

The long walk from place to place seemed to just be designed to use up time. Best bet, go to a nice cafe for breakfast and get a WHOLE cornetto, have a walk about and find any trattoria for lunch another order anti pasti assortment of meats and cheeses then walk for gelato. You will end up two hundred dollars ahead which you can use to hire a private car take you to Modrna for a proper tasting of balsamics! This was a pleasant rip off.

After 9 years of tours and +400 5 stars reviews, reading these words hurts. I've looked into what happened with the guide, and I feel the need to help shed some light. Our tours are not made to be all-you-can-eat but they focus on small, quality and family places. It's our job to explain that you didn't have just a coffee or 2 scoops of gelato. You had the best gourmet coffee and the best gelato I can find in Bologna. I believe walking is an essential part of a tour: it's a way to show you less popular streets with the tips of a local guide. And sometimes quality places are a bit outside the touristic routes. I'm sorry the tour didn't meet your expectations and I'll work hard every day to improve it. All the best, Andrea - Taste Bologna

The tour was comprehensive, full of accessible detail, went to places we didn’t expect & left us so much better informed about Bolonga, its food history & place in Italian culture in modern & past times. In a city with such deep cultural & societal threads though religion & every other aspect of life - eduction, music, food & literature - we were facing discovery at every turn. Our guide from Taste Bologna couldn’t have been better. He had an easy & welcome answer for everything. Bologna is hard to go past in Italy & this was a delightful gateway into it all.

Despite a very wet day, Maria did an excellent job of introducing us to the historical background related to Bologna’s food scene and guiding us through visits to some selected high-quality outlets of different types of produce. We finished feeling satisfied, informed and thoroughly enthused to explore more on our own. This is the second time I’ve done this tour, and this time I brought my husband & some friends with me. It’s great to see that Taste Bologna has gone from strength to strength over the intervening period. I would not hesitate to recommend!

This tour was a gift from my friends as a going away present before I relocated to Bologna. I was a part of this tour today 28/2/22 and I loved it!! I was in a group with 6 other tourists and our tour guide was Naima and she was amazing, hopefully she is your tour guide when you do it!!! Naima walked us around Bologna while teaching us about the typical and traditional foods and ingredients of Bologna and the surrounding cities while also allowing us to taste all of it. Aside from all of the great things that we learned and ate during the tour, it was nice to meet and speak to the other tourists and the tour guide. It was such a great experience I had an awesome time I definitely recommend this tour to anyone who visits Bologna.

This was a full breakfast thru lunch to dessert 4 hour tour. We not only got to see the city but the food was good large portions and definately did not leave hungry! We really enjoyed being able to sit down at several place to visit with our guide and the other folks on the tour. Pastries and coffee, then to the market for fruit and bread tastings, the most delish bolanase I have ever had with freshly made pasta, then to a great place where you bring your food and they provide the drinks - great variety of cured meats, cheese and freshly baked bread with a bubbly refreshing wine. And if we had not had enough, top it off with gellato. Great way to eat your way thru a city!

We don't often join tours but we are so pleased we joined this one in the 'city of food'. We had a wonderful guide in Maria who explained the culture and history behind the food traditions of the city. The foods sampled were varied, very generous and delicious and from small family run businesses that we would not have found ourselves. The group size of 10 made it very personal. A morning and money very well spent.

I came to Bologna because it is known as the gastronomic capital of Italy, and I wanted to experience the food and learn more. The Classic Bologna Food Tour was the perfect way to start my stay in Bologna. My guide Francesco was so knowledgeable not only about the food, but about history and culture as well. Bologna is a fascinating city with a rich history. I was able to taste many different specialties of the region and get familiar with the historic center of the city. All of the food was amazing and there were so many different things to try while walking through the city over the course of the tour. It was a thorough education, but more than that, it was so much fun and delicious! I highly recommend this tour as a perfect introduction to Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.
