Castel Sant'Angelo is a unique medieval fortress based on the ancient mausoleum of Emperor Hadrian. Over the centuries it has undergone various transformations: from a fortress to a prison, and finally to housing the Pope, becoming a residence in its own right. The beauty of the papal flats leaves one breathless and the Renaissance frescoes are no less fascinating than those of the Borgia pope in the Vatican Museums. It is worth entering Castel Sant'Angelo if only to admire the splendid views of Rome and the panoramic terrace overlooking the city!

A unique medieval fortress. Also known as Hadrian's Mausoleum, it is a monument in Rome, located on the right bank of the Tiber opposite the pons Aelius, a short distance from the Vatican.

      It never happened …
We booked this trip whilst in Rome and the trip was cancelled last minute. Disappointing to have to rebook and await a refund.

      Excellent discovery travel
I really appreciated the visit. We were a small group so we could understand everything. The guide was young and super professional. I made the tour in english but discovered that it was also available in French. Definitly recommand it

      Overpriced, misrepresented tour.
Plain clothed operators test to see if you are interested before handing you over to their fellow, plain clothed colleague who takes payment. They make sure to do this away from the signs stating the prices for entry. You will then meet your guide, who stalls for time telling you things about the area while their colleague organizes your entry. They say you will stand on the sand if you pay for the extra special tickets. The sand is under refurbishment so nobody walks there. You have limited time in the Colliseo, being moved on repeatedly. Finally, you are to meet the guide for Palatino outside, who will apparently recognize you by the tiny sticker the saleswoman provides you when she charges you. Honestly I expected the guide to run away, and nobody be there to collect us for Palatino, but to her credit, she stuck around to show us the next part, even if she seemed annoyed to do it. I wouldn't recommend this service, and will be disputing the charge as I didn't get what I paid for.

      First time in Rome
Arriving to Rome by train is the best thing anyone can do. Experience the adventure by stepping off the train and into the busy Roma Termini (Roman Terminal) with an uncontrollable excitement. As you step out into the hustle and bustle of the city, you'll be greeted by many vendors trying to sell you bus tours, trinkets, gifts, and all sorts. Once you figure out what your plan of action is, go for it! I decided to purchase an all day Hop on/Hop off bus tour ticket thats good for 24 hours. This bus takes you all around the city and you can hop on/hop off where ever you want. Just make sure where you bus pickups are at, it gets a bit confusing but you'll figure it out. So about this tour. Our tour guides were amazing! very knowledgable about the sites we visited and so friendly. I strongly suggest a tour guide because once you see the long, long, long lines to get into the collosseo, you'll know why, with a guide, you skip those lines...yep! Anyways, have fun in Italy and safe travels!!!

      Logistic problems all the way
We took a tour with this company directly from the colosseum site and it was the biggest mistake of my day. We were supposed to start a 12'30, we finally got in at 1pm. À family has abandoned the tour as they saw all the logistic issues they had only to synchronise themselves on the tour. Once inside the tour was going well but at 14'30 the guide left us in the colosseum with barely no instruction to get out or how to find his colleague to continue our tour to the Roman forum. Once out we had to wait an additional 30 min under 13 degrees with upcoming rain, for a another group to collect us. We started visiting the site with 6 other persons and ended in a group of more than 30 ppl. I don't recommend at all.
