About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- sswm0 contributionsWonderful tour for both children and adults !Our guide Alessandra was amazing and interacted well with the kids … she kept it interesting and informative for kids and adults and we were very happy with her presentation However one of the families was very rude and distracting as what looked to be a 5 year old girl and 9 year old boy had their hands up constantly and I mean constantly without a break jumping around directly in front of the guide and asking questions incessantly! The little girl must have asked 100 questions during the tour . The parents several times told them not to be rude but they didn’t listen and stayed in front of the guide jumping up and down hands raised. This really had a negative impact on the tour and I feel in the future maybe some rules could be in place to prevent unruly children from taking over.Written October 2, 2024
- 457shannab0 contributionsMariaclaudia was the highlight of our Rome trip!Mariaclaudia was the highlight of our Rome trip! She is a fantastic tour guide and amazing with kids. Even with the heat of July, she instantly engaged our kids (ages 8-13) right from the start. She also made sure we were in the shade as much as possible and well hydrated. We learned so much during our colosseum tour and she answered every question any one of us asked (and encouraged as many questions as possible). I would definitely book any one of her tours.Written September 10, 2024
- joeyjohns0 contributionsFabulous for kids - equally as engaging for adults! We totally lucked out on a spot due to a late cancellation - the booking process was easy and Mariaclaudia is very responsive. Despite the intense heat in mid-afternoon, mid-July, our Colosseum tour with Veronica was a fabulous experience that I'd highly recommend. Our boys (aged 8 and 6) were truly astonished at the history, stories and scale. So much so that my youngest asked Veronica, our guide 'is it all real?'. We were joined by another Australian family, with 2 girls a similar age. Veronica manged to keep them all totally engaged the entire tour, whilst we adults also enjoyed the stories and history lesson. The tour is long enough for kids not to get bored, the parents v kids quiz competitive and Veronica was a gem with the kids. Be organised, book well in advance, and enjoy a great 90 minute experience in one of the Worlds greatest places.Written September 2, 2024
- 878bethannt0 contributionsColosseum & Vatican TourWe were fortunate to schedule a tour with Maria Claudia for both the colosseum and Vatican. What an amazing experience! I have 4 kids (ages 11, 14, 15 & 16) who can be a bit tough to stay focused and engaged…but Maria Claudia had them all engaged with her enthusiasm and games she played with them. I would highly recommend her services for anyone visiting and wanting to have an enjoyable yet educational experience on all the wonders of Rome.Written August 28, 2024
- tamaraaT9726TD0 contributionsBest Tour Guide for FamiliesWe were lucky to have Mariaclaudia give us a tour of the Forum & Colosseum. It was a hot July day and my tween and teen were tired as we had already been to 6 other cities. Mariaclaudia is a very gifted storyteller. She kept all of us engaged the entire 2.5 hours. I wholeheartedly recommend her for any tour!!Written August 20, 2024
- B6629EAtime0 contributionsAmazing tour and guide!Alessandra was an amazing tour guide! She kept my kids engaged and excited throughout the tour. She gave us lots of good information and I enjoyed the competition between the parents and kids. I highly recommend her, so do not hesitate to book. It was one of the best tours we did!Written August 14, 2024
- 371leeannc0 contributionsAn excellent Colosseum and Roman Forum tour with Veronica! We were blessed to have Veronica lead our tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum while we were in Rome in May 2024. She kept the tour super interesting for both adults and our three teenagers alike, and we were so sad when our time with her ended. She was such a delight and her knowledge of the area was immense. She knew how to keep all of us engaged. I know we would not have enjoyed these historic sights without her help!Written August 12, 2024
- Travelingjava0 contributionsBest Family Tour in ItalyBest tour of our two week trip in Italy. Our guide Simone helped make the Vatican Museum come alive with stories, history, and fun. My 8yr old now considers Simone a close family friend and talks about her fondly. When I asked what she wanted to include in the review she said "Tell the other kids that Simone is the best. She's always happy, knows A LOT, and is lots of fun." My husband and I also enjoyed the tour and learned many new things along the way as well. Our tour included the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's Cathedral (excluding dome). It is worth the investment to make the experience enjoyable for all even in the heat and crowds. We wish we had booked other tours with MariaClaudia when in Italy.Written August 8, 2024
- Walna S0 contributionsGreat experienceThe tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. My kids had an awesome experience. One of my kids even did a presentation to her second grade class about everything she learned about the colosseum.Written August 6, 2024
- Catherine H0 contributionsFamily-centric tour, personalized and wonderful! What a wonderful experience we had with Alessandra. She developed a rapport with my three children (ages 9, 6, and 3) from the very start with her warmth and engaging nature. Her gamified approach to the tour was right up their alley - they loved the interactivity of the questions and challenges, and learned so much. She navigated the crowds expertly and paced the tour according to our needs. The booking process was seamless with great proactive communication. We went in with rather high expectations given the glowing reviews we had seen, and our experience exceeded them.Written August 3, 2024
- cheryll4190 contributionsMaria Claudia is outstanding! We loved our Coliseum tour with Maria claudia! She was so engaging and the kids really had a great time. Don't book a tour with anyone else, she is the best! I highly recommend her.Written August 3, 2024
- michellemarie10110 contributionsBest guides! This was the BEST thing we did in all of Italy. We just loved our guide Simona. My kids are 14 and 12 and they had a blast. She was able to engage them the full tour and we all learned so much. The rest of our trip we wished we had her at our side. Do not hesitate to book!Written July 28, 2024
- Jacki K0 contributionsBook now! 10/10! 💕The best tour! Do not hesitate to book, everyone from ages 10-72 loved the tour, had so much fun, learned so much and feel like we gained a friend by the end of the tour. I would recommend to anyone!!! A true highlight!!!Written July 24, 2024
- 71kaliea0 contributionsThe best kid-friendly Colosseum and Vatican tours ever!Mariaclaudia is the best guide we have ever had! I've never seen a guide that was this effective at keeping kids engaged for 2+ hours, especially when it's hot and the kids are tired. My 6 yr. old son was glued to her side because he was determined to find her clues and earn points to win the games. We did a Vatican and Colosseum tour (on separate days) and I know we would not have enjoyed either as much without her. I noticed many times that other people stopped around us to listen to Mariaclaudia explain things, because she explains like a passionate entertainer, not just a guide. Beyond her historical knowledge, she knew how to guide us through crowds, avoid lines, and find spaces so that we would hear her well and not get lost in the masses. Her costs are very reasonable compared to others, especially considering the small, personalized experience. If we ever visit Rome again, she will be our go to guide. I can't imagine visiting either place without her, and I would prioritize her as your guide if you want your kids to enjoy these places and learn a lot, instead of just checking off places on a list.Written July 21, 2024
- 792milahs0 contributionsOur children’s favorite activity out of a two week tripWe did a two week trip, including five days in Rome and a Disney cruise in Italy, and Greece. My kids are six, eight and 11. I thought their favorite part would be the Disney Cruise because of course. The day we went to the Colosseum was hot and we were still jetlagged. None of that mattered! Maria Claudia made it so much fun that we all had a blast and the time went very quickly. My kids tell everyone that their day at the Colosseum and the game with Maria Claudio was their favorite part of the trip every time they asked without hesitation!Written July 20, 2024

Our scavenger hunt with guide Simona was a blast! She immediately secured the kids engagement, by making the hunt competitive (adults vs kids). Throughout the tour, she did a great job of feeding fun historical knowledge/tidbits to our various age groups (kids 6, 9, 12, 15 & adults!). Our younger kids continued having fun looking for her 'bonus point items' for our remaining days in Rome & other cities in Italy. Really recommend this tour if you are doing Rome with children.

My family and I (myself, husband and two boys aged 8 & 10) spent a fantastic morning with Maria today touring some of the beautiful sites of Rome. From the moment we met her, Maria was so lovely, personable and friendly. She immediately formed a rapport with our two boys and had them engaged with her stories about the different sites we visited and excited about winning points for their team whether that was by finding hidden signs/ pictures or answering her trivia questions about places such as the Trevi Fountain or the Pantheon. Her breadth of knowledge and the level that she pitched the tour at was absolutely perfect for our two kids. And adding the competitive element between adults and children meant that the whole family was interested and entertained for the whole time of the tour. We barely noticed the time passing we were enjoying ourselves so much! We all came away from the tour talking about how much we had learnt about Rome and its history but in a lovely accessible way. I couldn’t recommend Maria more highly for any families who are wanting to see the sights in a way that works for both adults and children. We only wish that we had booked some other tours with her so we could enjoy hearing more about this beautiful city from her!

Really a hidden gem in Rome. I’m amazed that our hard to please teenagers actually loved the tour and Mariaclaudia. They are still talking about the throngs that she taught them. They were impressed by how she found a way to explain the topics in a way that would keep them interested. Anyone with kids and / or teenagers must do at least one tour with Mariaclaudia.

We cannot recommend Maria Claudia enough. What a fantastic tour. The level of energy she brings, the knowledge and engagement she inspires in the kids (and adults) makes the experience totally worthwhile. There were 3 kids on the tour 8,8 and our son was 11 and they were all involved and worked together. We had been to a few of the spots the day before but this tour taught us not only the history, but some of the stories you don't read in books. As a world school family this year - a ton of great information was shared and Maria Claudia really brought learning to life for the kids (and adults).

Mariaclaudia was fantastic! We had children aged 5, 8, and 11 in our tour group and she was able to keep the tour interesting for all ages. She kept everyone, including the adults, engaged and entertained. She took a complex subject with a lot of details and nuance and was able to communicate it in a fun and entertaining way. Her tour was one of the highlights of our trip. I highly recommend it!

Five-star, rave review here! Mariaclaudia wasn’t available but we were accompanied by Alessandra and she is absolutely amazing. When booking, I opted for the group tour because it was cheaper and had a start time that better aligned with our schedule (6:30pm), but I never could have imagined the magic this group tour would create!
We met at the Trevi Fountain and it was my family of four plus two other families of three. Our kids were all the same ages (7, 7, 6, and 5) and Alessandra was AMAZING with them! The scavenger hunt was a great mix of history and gamification – the kids won and had THE BEST time. She talked mostly to them and kept them interested and engaged. My kids were pointing out eggs on buildings days later!
Not only was the tour itself amazing, but I swear we all made friends for life. The tour ended at 8:30pm and the 10 of us went for dinner that night and met up for dinner for the next two nights before we all left Rome. Our kids became fast friends and we all made magical memories. It felt like traveling in your twenties and was so great to share that aspect of traveling with our kiddos.
Thanks, Mariaclaudia & Alessandra!!

I just completed a trip to Rome, Florence and Venice. I booked several tours with private tour guides for my family, kids age 7 and 10 and Maria was the best (and most affordable actually). I found reviews about Maria on Facebook and although I never really saw a website, I used her email contact which she responded to quickly. We did a colliseum tour with in the late afternoon, we were tired and it was hot...but Maria is like a cup of double espresso. Her personality is electric and she engages you immediately. I don't know how she does that. But her tour is actually really interactive where you score points for asking questions and answering trivia on facts she told you. The kids loved it and no other tour guide compared to her for the rest of our trip. Did I mention she is also half the price of big tour agencies out there. Book her, you won't regret it!

Maria might just be the greatest tour guide in Rome. If not Europe. We were a group of 3 adults and 2 children (aged 5 and 7) and we joined Maria for two separate activities. She has a novel approach to giving tours: a constant quiz and scavenger hunt (with points and prizes!) to keep kids and adults alike engaged. Even adults with a decent knowledge of Roman history will find new sights and learn new things.
On our first morning in Rome she took us on a tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Forum. This tour lasted nearly three hours and she kept us all happy and engaged (even the 5 year old, in pouring rain) through the whole time. She knows all the best spots and actively rewards inquisitive children and all of their questions. She seems to adore children, and knows exactly how to pitch her tours to them, without boring or condescending the adults.
On our second morning we met at the Trevi Fountain for a tour through the centre of Rome to Piazza Novana via the Pantheon and all sorts of other areas. I have visited Rome several times previously (although this was the first visit with our children) and thought I’d seen almost everything - how wrong was! Maria was able to surprise us constantly.
Throughout the tours, Maria kept track of the scores for the quizzes and scavenger hunts on her iPad, and had prizes for the winners at the end of each day. Somehow (!) the children won against the grown ups on each day. The second day culminated in a mad dash around Piazza Novana trying to find all sorts of things.
I cannot recommend these tours enough. They are not cheap - but nor should they be. This is a high quality tour with an expert who really keeps kids and families engaged. I have no
doubt she’d also be great with groups of adults. This is a must-do activity in Rome and we could not be more grateful for Maria’s knowledge and enthusiasm.

Wow. Wow in so many aspects. The Vatican Musuem and its history is, well, very overwhelming. But this tour allowed for my husband, thirteen year old son, ten year old daughter and myself get a good understanding of the history and see the most important parts of the museum including the Sistine Chapel. We fortunately had Mariaclaudia as our guide and boy, did she bring it. From the moment we first met at the entrance to our final fairwells, she had so much energy. She brought excitement, especially for my kids, to make learning about the Vatican Museum exciting and motivating. She had such rich stories to share with lots of visuals to help us connect and understand. She definitely
WOW-ed us. I couldn’t recommend any other way to visit the Vatican. (Unfortunately, we couldn’t go to the basilica because it was closed during our visit time. Since it was Easter week, there was a mass that was happening).

Martina was an excellent tour guide of the Uffizi. Since we were traveling with our 2 kids, ages 7 and 10, we were worried that the art and history on display at the Uffizi would be lost on them and they would be bored. But Martina was so captivating that 2 hours went by so fast, nobody even realized how! She made it incredibly engaging for the kids by making the whole tour a game, where she asked questions and gave points to the kids for spotting paintings, identifying subjects in the paintings, talking about the methods involved in the painting and the painters and their history and asking questions about that too! The kids were focused the whole time and learnt a lot about art, history, artists and the paintings and Florence/Medici too! We also learnt a lot in the process and it was enjoyable to go through a museum with kids and not feel like we are torturing them :). In fact, this was the highlight of the whole Italy trip for both kids! Highly recommend Martina for tours with kids!!
