About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Barry C0 contributionsCity of PisaTime saving to arrange major attractions and transportation. We picked Viator because TripAdvisor was not available. The guide has a very strong Italian accent and we kind of understand what he speaks most of the time.Written January 9, 2023

- LilDaddy0 contributionsDO NOT BOOK WITH THIS TOUR OPERATORWe mistakenly booked an afternoon tour for two with this operator on a date prior to our arrival into Pisa. We were contacted on this morning of the tour and mentioned to the operator that we had not yet arrived in Pisa and were scheduled to arrive four days later and asked if they would please reschedule. They refused to work with us on changing our tour and wanted us to pay the full fee of $417.50 again! Their claim being they had already paid for the tickets and the guide. Skip the line tickets for two online is only $60.00 and I am certain they did not pay a guide $350.00 for a tour he/she did not conduct! We were informed by Viator that the tour operator had the option of charging a nominal fee for last minute last minute amendments but they refused! They showed no flexibility but pure greed by demanding we paid another $417.50. We booked a private tour with another local tour operator for less than $417.50 and it was Excellent! Do Not Book With This Tour Operator or their affiliate Raphael Tours because there are other options in Pisa.Written August 31, 2021
- SarshaCoker0 contributionsUffizi and the statue of David, Amazing! We had an amazing day with Stefania our guide. The Uffizi and Accademia Galleries were amazing. I 100% recommend this tour! I loved Florence!!Written December 17, 2019
- JonBowring0 contributionsIf you go to Pisa don’t do it without doing this.I’d heard people say ‘there’s not much to do in Pisa’. Book a personal guide. The history is amazing. The train from Florence is very reasonable & about 1 hour 10 mins. 2.5 hour tour including priority up and down the tower left is wanting more. A great day and a must do if you are in the area. Her knowledge was encyclopaedic. Brilliant.Written July 13, 2019
- HeffeGrande0 contributionsFamily Italian vacationAbsolutely fabulous!! Maria Hillary (I think) was incredibly knowledgable and passionate about her job. She was also very willing to go out of her way to answer any questions and to help us in any way she could. We learned an uncredible amount about the tower, the Cathedral and all the buildings in that area. It was the Pisa celebration of the new year and she got us into the cathedral to witness this first hand. I would strongly recommend d this tour and also highly recommend Maria Hillary (?)Written March 26, 2019
- Freyja3gems0 contributionsBook the bell tower only; 90 minute guided tour ~ is okay not great.I booked a 90 minute walking tour and waited 30 minutes for a busload of tourist who were in our group. This is not the tour guide's fault and out of her control yet she had to shorten much of what we were going to see and hear about because of our timed tickets for the bell tower. She did her best with the time constraints. Perhaps if I had the full tour it would have been better. I had previously read in guide books what she shared on the tour so nothing new. The audio kept cutting out for the group and the guide was clearly frustrated. She eventually just spoke loudly to the group and we turned off the audios. With a tour I spent equal time waiting possibly more than actually during the tour. There was no option to get a full tour later (fully booked) and there was no refund offered. If I had it to do over I would purchase my Leaning Tower timed ticket only (if possible) and tour the Baptistery, Cathedral, and Field of Miracles on my own at my leisure. It is easy to spend a day here seeing everything. It is worth the time to see inside all the buildings and going up the bell tower steps was fantastic! Talk to the docents, they offered me more interesting information than the tour guides. The view is endearing as you see the ancient world dovetail with the modern world such as the Pisa high school athletic stadium.Written March 30, 2018
- DJBurrows0 contributionsPisa Private TourTwo adults and two 14 year olds took the private tour for Kids. We all enjoyed the tour very much. Our guide Berna was very knowledgeable. She modified the tour when she found out the kids were teenagers rather than younger children. We found out a lot about Pisa that we never knew. Thank you.Written August 25, 2017
- albutmak0 contributionsA great day in Pisa!A beautiful place we visited during our Italy trip in 2016. Spent a whole day here in Pisa visiting the Piazza dei Miracoli/ Leaning Tower + walking around + enjoying the food. Believe me, please do not under-estimate the amount of time you could spend here. Recommend to stay overnight. Last time we had reserved a room just couple steps away from the Leaning Tower (amazing!). It was a memorable experience here and we really missed it a lot!Written March 8, 2017
- Doreen J0 contributionsPiazza dei Miracoli in Pisa, ItalySquare of Miracles is surrounded by a wall built in 1155. As you walk in you think you are in Medieval times. There is a beautiful Baptistery, Cathedral and the famous bell tower, the leaning tower if Pisa. We did not climb the 293 steps. We stopped at one of the outdoor restaurants for a quick snack. We had a glass of wine and an order of bread which was quite enough. Then we bought a few souvenirs at the outdoor venders.Written October 17, 2016
- pradiptakumarmishra0 contributionsseeing is believingOnce you come to italy never miss the leaning tower. We thought of spending an hour there before boarding train back to florence. But we ended up spending good 3 hours which we still thought was less. Going to top is expensive of course, for me looking at the tower is more enjoying then going up. Best way of communication from florence is train which is there every 30 min at 9 euros only. Please walk from the station, it takes 20 min, no need of hiring any other conveyence.Written June 28, 2016
- manfred950 contributionsWine tasting, Pisa, ItalyMy wife, myself and another couple recently took a cruise and one of our stops was Pisa, Italy. We spent about an hour at the Leaning Tower (all we needed). We then went to Torre a Cenaia Estate for a tour of the estate and a wine tasting which included lunch (20 Euro per person). What a fantastic time. The estate is pristine, the lunch and wine were great. The hospitality of all the staff was beyond description. The estate dates back to the year 1120. They offer wine tasting, cooking classes, carriage tours of the estate as well as guided hunting for small game. A great way to spend the day. Would highly recommend a day tour to this estate.Written May 22, 2014
- Alex2805460 contributionsStoring luggage at Pisa railway stationWe traveled by train from Levanto to Florence, and we were very keen to spend about three or four hours in Pisa, to see the Leaning Tower, Cathedral etc... Our big problem was that we had four large pieces of baggage and several smaller pieces, none of which we wanted to cart around Pisa for four hours !!! We were reconciled to taking turns in looking after the stuff on the platform, when much to our surprise we found excellent left luggage facilities in Pisa Railway Station (at the end of platform one). It is a warehouse-type building, and your luggage is tagged and neatly stored on large shelves. Very efficient method of storage and no hassles of stuffing suitcases into tiny lockers!!! An excellent arrangement, and quite cheap. One caution: when retrieving luggage, budget at least half an hour, as the staff may be busy, and you wouldn't want to miss your onward connection because of delays in getting your baggage!!Written March 10, 2014
- C W0 contributionsIt has a tower that leans and moreA visit to Italy must include a visit to Pisa to see the leaning Tower of Pisa and take a picture of someone pretending to be holding it up. The city of Pisa is a walled city with more to see that just the leaning tower. Although the leaning tower is the reason most folks visit here there is also a beautiful Cathedral and a separate Baptistry. The town has shops and restaurants. You will need to park in the visitors parking and take the shuttle or a 10 minute walk to get to the city. The attraction is usually crowded and there is a line of those waiting to walk to the top of the tower. Some of the attractions are free and some have an entry fee.Written September 22, 2013
- Pahrumpbum0 contributionsBeautiful!!!Went on 12 day Norwegian cruise of the Med. Pisa was one of the stops and was so very much worth the trip sightseeing. Not sure which company provided the tour, but I don't think it really matters as it is so amazing to walk around and see the beauty. While there, make sure to walk around the market areas and take the time for a little "gelato and coffee break". An absolute must for us was taking the customary "fun photos" framed to look like we were pushing the tower.Written September 7, 2013
