About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Climber619281472540 contributionsBad badMeetingpoint was very bad. Also there too less information. Then we saw the ticket it only cost €18, but I paid €32 pp. No guide inside. So we will never book again with get your guide. Terrible experienceWritten November 1, 2024
- margaretlJ3661PR0 contributionsGuide lost her tourists didn't see any of ColosseumWe paid for Colosseum underground and Palentine Hill tour. We all met up and went through security. We had headsets and where following our guide. SO many people after security. All of a sudden another traveller looked at us and said where is the guide. As she was short and no flag we could not see her anywhere. We could still hear them so kept looking then signal faded away. Us and other couple kept looking to no avail. We went upstairs and looked nope, after a while we saw them at the bottom arena. Waving and calling out another tourist noticed us, Guide had no idea she left us behind. We had to sit and wait didn't see any of the Colosseum. Have contacted Get your Guide for a refund They are saying we didnt get lost and could wander off if we wanted to we got what we paid for. We didn't pay all that money for a tour if we wanted to wander around ourselves Once we met up again then she counted. BIT LATE others told us we weren't the only ones that got left behind and the guide said can't hold flag up for 8 hours. Well other tour guides seem to manage Rita and learn to regroup.Written July 20, 2024
- flosventure0 contributionsCool ExperienceI went there around 5pm and there were almost no people but it definitely picked up quite a lot after me. It costs 12 Euros and you get some VR glasses. It didn't strike me that they have the best quality but I've never had VR glasses on so I can't judge. You have 8 stations to go through and sometimes it can be iffy to get the thing started. Overall, I really enjoyed it because it provided history from pre-Roman times to now and what has happened in that area. The animations were great and gave a sense of the sheer size of the Circus Maximus. I truly enjoyed the last station as you get to sit down and watch a race in the Circus. Overall, simple but one of my highlights.Written June 16, 2024
- HildeDouw0 contributionsNever book with Get your tour! Unfair company!I booked a trip to the Alhambra for 3 people. Received confirmation email. Everything seemed fine. The day before the trip I received a phone and it suddenly 'overbooked' We could go later in the day, but I had to check that first with my friends. I asked to call back, but I had to decide immediately! (I cannot decide for other people) I sended WhatsApp, it was read immediately but there came no answer (rude) They would pay me back... Then I received mail. In 2 weeks my money will return (this is possible immediately!) And if not, I can take contact... The e -mail does not state 'transfer' but 'canceled by civil unrest'! Unfair! Unfriendly! Unreliable!Written June 4, 2024
- KatiePotatie850 contributionsSt Peter Basilica & Dome Self Guided Tour = AVOID. IT'S A TOTAL SCAM.If you're looking to book the St Peters Basilica Self Tour in Rome...ABSOLUTELY AVOID. It's a complete scam and a con. The cost of the tour per person is £25 and all you get is a guide who walks you to the back of the Basilica security queue, stands with you whilst you queue and then drops you at the Dome. YOU DO NOT GET SKIP THE LINE WITH THIS TOUR NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY. Despite skip the line being advertised it is a lie. Do not book this tour as you can go early in the morning, queue yourself and pay €10 into the Dome; the Basilica is totally free. The ticket cost of £25 basically gives you a £15 audio guide that is rubbish. This is a scam and should be illegal!!! AVOIDWritten April 13, 2024
- 966bridgetu0 contributionsSTAY AWAY FROM GETYOURGUIDE!!Sooo Disappointed! Stay Away from this tour group. We excitedly booked the tour for 4 for Pompeii. We arrived as instructed however were dropped off at the wrong gate. (There are 3 by the way.) Once there we were sent to different gates by a GetYourGuide tour person. After being redirected several times we contacted the Company which was a difficult task in itself. There is no direct phone number. We finally found how to do a live chat and began one. We were told they would contact the tour guide so we could get in, they hold the actual tickets, but that didn’t happen. Long story short we ended up purchasing additional tickets to get in after paying for tickets through GetYourGuide. We requested a refund as we were NOT No Shows but were directed incorrectly by one of their people causing us to miss entry and absolutely no help was given to rectify the situation. Once ADDITIONAL tickets were purchased and we went inside we were able to simply download an app that nicely explained what we were looking at, which was amazing by the way. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME! This company is NOT worth the headache. We were out $200 eu. So very disappointing. Will NEVER use this company again. Beware!Written April 9, 2024
- martakJ2970ON0 contributionsRefund - extremely poor customer serviceRefund - extremely poor customer service I have emailed getyourguide on several occasions in order to request the refund for my booking, as due to reschedule surgery I won't be able to travel but so far they have only emailed me back saying that they have not received my response (I am sure they did as emailed them back at least 5 times ) and my case is closed !!! All documents from hospital have been attached to the emails !!! Extremely poor customer service!! I wouldn't recommend them to anyone !! Once you pay looks like no matter what you cannot get the refund !!!!!! Booking is made for 13th October 2024 so surly i am giving them enough time (6 months in advance) to positively consider my refund ! Its not last minute notice !Written February 20, 2024
- RachelK2490 contributionsEngaging & interesting ‘tour’This was a really great way to experience the circus Maximus story and see it (through VR) as it would have been. Staff were friendly. Very engaging experience - I would recommend.Written February 20, 2024
- MELUVBEACH0 contributionsGetYourGuide did NOT provide tour that was advertised.I would not use GetYourGuide because you may not get the tour you paid for. Additionally, you may not get a refund if you report your issue. Such is our experience. We booked a St. Peter’s Dome Climb tour in June for a November tour. We met the guide at the appointed time and place. The tour was scheduled from 2:00 to 4:00pm. My very first question to the local guide upon meeting her was “This is the tour to climb to the top of the dome, correct?” She immediately said “Yes, yes, you will get to climb the dome.” The tour guide proceeded to take us on a tour of the inside of the Basilica and the underground grotto - which were also to be included in the tour but not the main feature of the tour as listed on the GetYourGuide website. We had previously visited St. Peter’s Basilica so our main reason for booking this tour was for the Dome Climb. The guide oddly seemed to stall during the grotto portion of the tour, spending much time on minor details as other tours sped by us. When we finally arrived at the entrance to the dome climb area at exactly 4:00pm, the guard closed the gates right in front of us. Our guide did not challenge him or even ask for our small group to be allowed to continue. She just turned to us and said “It’s too crowded at the top and they sometimes close earlier than this.” A bizarre statement for someone who got us there so late. I really feel this was a case of bait and switch. When many members of our group protested, the guide just shrugged and told us to ask for a refund. She also coldly said we could just try to climb the dome on “another day”. As tourists with limited time in Rome, it was not possible for us to try again on “another day.” We did contact GetYourGuide” via their website and, at first, we did get a response that seemed to understand our request for a refund. Unfortunately, their final response was that we did receive “part of the tour”and therefore no refund was made. We are not young and may never get back to Rome to do the Dome Climb. I would not recommend using GetYourGuide as it seems they support their contracted unscrupulous tour guides and do nothing to rectify the fraud perpetrated by them.Written January 5, 2024
- susie49640 contributionsVery interesting experienceI walked straight in and it wasn’t crowded at all. Staff were very polite and helpful. It was really interesting and something different to do. Great to see what it would have looked like in Roman times, and good value. Don’t forget to take ID, you have to leave it with them until you return the headset.Written December 13, 2023
- rebeccaaL9953WG0 contributionsDo not recommend Get Your GuideGet Your Guide tour for Domus Aurea in Rome- Booked in July for a tour in November. The company was quick to charge me the full amount of the tour but then cancelled at the last minute. I waited months before being able to book tickets (limited access, tickets sell quickly) only to have them teventually tell me that they could not provide the tour because they needed the full name of the second visitor (apparently new rules). NO EXCEPTION FOR SOMEONE WORKING IN A LIMITED INTERNET ACCESS LOCATION, even though the tour was paid for in full months prior. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY, DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL Very disappointed. Last time booking with them.Written November 3, 2023
- maza790 contributionsNo need to book ahead!Do not book beforehand or you will pay much more as seen in these reviews. We walked up and paid $10 euros per person and received instruction on the audio and visual equipment from the very friendly and helpful staff. It was very informative and not crowded at all on a Sunday mid-morning! Totally worth the money spent!Written October 16, 2023
- Vacation057716326070 contributionsDishonestyThis company offers tickets with a fake label. The tour to the Colosseum and Roman Forum is only a walk around the outside of those sides. You only learn that in an email that is sent to you after the deadline for cancellation has passed. Scam? I think so. You should be ashamed. We will let the world know.Written October 9, 2023
- SPH780 contributionspoor customer serviceWe booked two tours and upon confirmation where requested to download the app, which I easily did. However, the app only showed one of the booked tours. I downloaded it again and the same problem. I phoned and the customer servoe rep could not identify the problem. She put in a IT request. Almost four weeks later, I got an email from an IT person asking for numerous page photos of the problem and asking whether I had tried removing the app and installing it again. (I am not stupid and had already tried that strategy) - what was more annoying was the fact that it was almost four weeks later and we had already taken one of the trips, with the next one booked for the following day. Very disappointed customer service.Written September 9, 2023
- shawnmstar0 contributionsTour operator is the WORST!Would rate negative stars if I could. I booked and paid and got confirmation email and then got to the meeting place early and waited for them to get there. I called the number on the itinerary and chatted via Viator and got a response that we couldn’t go in early. Then when the lady finally shows up SHE TELLS ME THERES A PROBLEM and THEY DON’T HAVE TWO TICKETS FOR US. So all that waiting in 100 degree heat for nothing. Also they could have let me know in advance if there was a problem. The galleria was sold out completely and we would have done something different. BAD TOUR OPERATOR! Luckily they gave us a refund pretty quickly. Avoid avoid avoid them.Written August 23, 2023
