- nancig5860 contributionsCooking With Chiara was an A+Chiara is amazing. We are so happy that we booked our cooking experience with Chiara at her home. She is extremely accommodating and was able to tailor the entire menu to be gluten free per our request. We had the best time making dinner while chatting with her and learning new cooking techniques. Her home is lovely, easy to find, and we highly recommend this experience to others.Written June 15, 2024
- zephyr2210 contributionsThe Best Organized Travel Activity in Rome Hands DownWe had the most wonderful experience-- I would say the best organized activity we have ever done anywhere in the world-- with Chiara. We started our day with a typical Roman pastry and coffee at Pasticceria Linari before walking to the Testaccio Market where we visited several vendors procuring ingredients for our cooking lesson and learning a lot in the process. We stopped by the Michetti butcher shop to pick up meat for our lunch as well. Then we were off to Chiara's lovely home where we ate more delicious bread and cheeses than we should have (LOL) while learning how to make semolina orecchiette pasta from scratch. We also learned how to make a traditional tomato and garlic sauce, beef straccetti, and, for dessert, a chocolate sausage. While preparing the meal we enjoyed wonderful conversation and learned a ton about the right ingredients (which flour to use for pasta for example), produce (who knew Roman artichokes were so unique and prepared so differently than those we are used to at home), and pasta-making. At the end of our 2+ hours of instruction, we sat down for a beautiful and filling three course meal of the food we learned to prepare. Everything was delicious, clean and simple, and in more than sufficient portions. Our experience was tailored to our own specific needs (e.g. we don't drink alcohol) which was most appreciated. I would, without hesitation, strongly recommend experiencing life and cooking with Chiara!!!Written December 30, 2023
- Explorer221861548990 contributionsThe highlight of our Euro Trip and the absolute best food we had in Belgium, Amsterdam, and Germany!Suzy and Bob were absolutely delightful. My wife and I started out having some wine and chatting with the couple while Suzy finished making the meal. The meal was excellent, starting with a pea soup, and a fish soup for a main course. The chocolate mousse was so amazing! Suzy was even kind enough to give us a ride back to the hotel because it was rainy out. It was fantastic getting to meet people from Belgium and was a welcome break from the usual tourist experience.Written April 1, 2023

- ManindraS20180 contributionsDo yourself a favor and book thisThere's a word for the feeling you get when you meet people and it seems as though you've known them for much longer...I don't know what that word is, but, I do know what that feeling feels like, because that is what we felt all throughout the evening we had with Suzy and Bob at their lovely home in Ghent. Myself and my two companions were traveling around London and Belgium for the previous 5 days, and as we are prone to do, had mostly been ignoring our health and not caring about what we ate or taking time to reflect and relax. You know how people say they need a vacation from a vacation? Yeah, that's the road we were headed down. The one good thing I'll say about how we travel is that we absolutely love meeting new people, and so we had booked this dinner in advance knowing that it would be something to look forward to. It turned out to be one of our most memorable experiences in Belgium, one that I will remember for a long time to come. Bob and Suzy were gracious right from the start, showing us around their home and making us feel comfortable and welcome, answering all of the questions that our curious minds could think of. When traveling to a different country for the first time, it's tough to learn things that only locals would know, Bob and Suzy were immensely helpful on that front. As I mentioned earlier, we hadn't been eating too well on the trip up to that point (waffles and beer seemed to have been 90% of our diet), and the food that Suzy cooked up for us to eat together was not just incredibly tasty, but it felt incredibly good for our souls. We felt like we were renewed through the food. Suzy gave us the recipes to use, and although I know I won't be able to cook it half as well, it's certainly worth a try. Most importantly, any experience like this is about the people you meet, the friends you make, and the time spent in good conversation. Our party was sad when the night had ended, we would have loved to spend several more hours with Bob and Suzy but time doesn't slow or stop for any of us, no matter how much we want it to. I know my companions and I will be back at some point, and we'll go out of our way to see our new friends in Ghent. Thanks for the excellent memories.Written September 19, 2019
- lightthelamp0 contributionsHomemade PizzaCristina and her husband were wonderful hosts for my wife and I. We made fresh dough from scratch, prepared a variety of toppings and baked a number of delicious pies! They also provided some local beer, moscato, and a traditional Sicilian dessert. This was an amazing experience, we spent hours eating and sharing our cultures. Highly recommended!Written April 18, 2019
- Christie B0 contributionsAuthentic Italian cooking in RomeOur host was Daniella, not Massimo as this post reads. She is also located in Rome. The experience was fantastic, she was very welcoming and made the recipes accessible if you did not have much cooking experience. The dishes were thoughtful and absolutely delicious! Daniella was extremely knowledgeable and even was able to explain which ingredients you could use from your region (in our case, United States) if the authentic Italian ingredients she used were not accessible. Our group was able to learn new skills, enjoy a delicious meal, appreciate the hospitality of a Roman local and make many new memories and laughs along the way. I would highly recommend this experience!Written September 16, 2018
- Christina H0 contributionsChristina HiltropChiara and her daughter Chloe provided a lovely cultural and cooking experience. The food was amazing and the conversation and instruction was pleasant. Chiara was very mindful of my food allergy. Should we revisit Rome, we would be sure to include Chiara in our plans.Written August 7, 2018
- Valeria F0 contributionsGreat experience in RomeMassimo and Federica are the warmest hosts and take care of every detail of the experience... their lovely appartment is beautifully decorated and most welcoming... the table is set and received us with summer colors and all the elements we would need along the steps of the complete dinner...conversation is friendly and supplies information on Rome’s past, traditional cuisine and all the typical ingredients.... when it comes to food, Massimo is just the perfect chef, powered by family learned skills and all the intention of making the best of the night...Creamy ricotta, intense cherry tomatoes, peperoni with tuna, the best pecorino and prosciutto... and to round up those amazing flavors, a remarkable white wine: a great discovery for us and for Bavarian bishop Johannes Defuc back in the year 1111. After this unsurmountable “antipasti”, we found Pepino’s carbonara with local guanciale .... simply great, as only Italian grandparents can create. Perfect chiannina polpete and faggiolini followed, si soft and tasty !!! Red wine matched this explosion of flavors and enhaced delicious food. My Dad had a memourable birthday cake, so his 80’s in Rome won’t be forgotten: tante auguri Pappo! Thank you so so much Massimo and Federica... a perfect meal, top quality repies and your friendship touched our souls!Written June 27, 2018
- Cristina A0 contributionsAmazing Lesson & FeastWe had an amazing time with Chiara. She was incredibly gracious, and she was a wonderful teacher. She started the lesson by giving us a brief historical introduction to Roman cuisine. We cooked multiple types of pastas, while about local produce, ingredient selection and cooking techniques. She was flexible with the menu, and even served us a delicious apperitivo as we prepared our meal. The dinner was fabulous. Throughout dinner we talked about Roman food and it’s regional variations - and why this makes Italy centered on the culinary experience. It was a great way to end our trip, and one of our favorite evenings during our two weeks in Italy. We would highly recommend her! - Greg & CristinaWritten June 24, 2018

Our travel agent recommended this cooking experience with Cristina and it exceeded our expectations. Cristina and her husband Vito greeted my family with open arms as if we were a part of their family or friends. We instantly felt at home. We were able to learn how to prepare and cook an authentic Italian meal from scratch from the first course through dessert. My husband and daughter made spaghetti and ricotta/spinach filled ravioli with Cristina in the kitchen complete with making the dough, kneading it and making it into the pasta while my son and I made the antipasto plates and the panzanella salad. Cristina served us the pastas, one with her sauce with meat and the ravioli with a butter sage sauce. We helped set the table and all sat down to eat the meal together with engaging conversation. Then we finished the evening with homemade cannolis that we also helped prepare and a suprise taste of Vito’s homemade limoncello. My family all agreed that it was so delicious and the best meal that we had. We highly recommend Cristina’s cooking experience if you want to really feel the heart and soul of the Italian culture. We will always have this as a wonderful memory for our family .

We had a lovely evening visiting with Massimo , Frederica and her aunt. We started with a delicious antipasto which included a Roman style artichoke that was delicious. We moved on to a traditional carbonara and his grandmothers recipe for homemade meatballs. We drank some delicious wine and finished off the meal with two desserts including a Pistachio cannoli and a traditional Roman cream puff. Massimo and Frederica are very welcoming, interesting, well traveled and knowledgeable. They live in a nice neighborhood in a modern well appointed apartment. We highly recommend having dinner with them .
