This was very interesting! We learned so much about the history of Rome, seen through the eyes of a guide who has an absolute passion for history.

Michele really knows his stuff. You can feel his passion about the various topics and makes it relatable and easy to understand. I thought I knew the facts about Julius Caesar’s death, but the way Michele told me about the whole background story made me almost emotional. It was a wonderful experience! Thank you Michele!

We went in the evening and Michael told very detailed and fascinating stories about a few crimes that happend just in the tour area. Particularly interesting was that he didn’t just talk about the act itself but provided extensive background information why these things happend the way they did. Would have loved to hear more for sure! Totally worth it!

The title of this tour threw me off. Criminal Tour?? Wasn’t sure what I was going to get. It was probably the best tour I’ve ever taken. And I’m 72 years old and have taken many tours. I Love History and this was jam packed with history. Old history of Rome and not so old history. The tour guy Michele (Mike) Henry was excellent. He could be a public speaker talking about Rome and would hold everyone’s attention. If you like history do yourself a favor and book this guy you won’t regret it. 5 stars out of 5. Should be called “Romes best kept secrets” or just “secrets of Rome”

Mike did an incredible job explaining various events in Rome that you typically do not hear on a regular tour. He is full of knowledge and so willing to share it with others. He made our walk enjoyable and entertaining. Great job!

We did the criminal tour with Michele during a recent trip to Rome and would recommend it unreservedly. Michele really knows his stuff - from talking about events from 44BC (Julius Ceasar's assassination), through the 16th century and Gallileo Galilei to events during WW II ending up with Aldo Moro's death in 1978, via a number of other stories. Michele was friendly, personable and what a wealth of knowledge! He was really passionate about the history he was sharing which made it really interesting to hear. He spoke almost non-stop for three hours and none of it was superfluous. We left feeling entertained but also knowing far more than when we started! While you can satisfy an interest in history in numerous ways in Rome, I don't think many will be as enjoyable, memorable or enlightening as a tour with Michele. If you have the time, go - you won't be sorry.

I'm so happy we booked this tour- it was a great way to learn a bit more about the history of Italy and Rome but through a unique lens: criminal acts that took place here through the ages. We visited 5 sites and our guide Michele was very knowledgeable and did a great job of telling us the story of the tragic acts that happened in each spot. He even gave us some great recommendations of where to eat and what things to order. We definitely recommend this tour for anyone who wants to learn more about Rome from a different perspective than your usual churches and monuments tour.

A fantastic tour of a hidden side of Rome, especially great if you are looking for something more than the usual ruins, statues and paintings. Mike really knows his stuff and makes history - both recent and ancient - come alive. Highly recommended!

This tour was one of the most enjoyable tours I ever took. Michele is very knowledgeable and brings life to each of the stories he tells. He made history sound like a Netflix true crime drama, keeping us on our toes for a few hours. I would recommend that to anyone I know, and I would do it again the next time I'm in Rome. It's a great tour combining humor, facts, knowledge, and sightseeing.

This tour was above expectations. Michele, the tour guide, is one of the most knowledgeable tour guides we have ever been with. Interesting information, mixed with a good sense of humor, and a tour involving the “unusual” historical crimes of Rome. After you have visited the usual spots, add this tour in after dark for a different perspective

Michele was born to be a tour guide. He’s the best at providing one of a kind experiences. I’ve taken two tours with Michele - first to Ponza and recently to Bomarzo, Civita di Bagnoregio, and Orvieto - both were the most memorable days of the trip. Rome is one of the greatest cities but there are so many tourist - Michele’s tours takes you to spots where tourists rarely go.

My husband booked the Food tour of the Garbatella neighborhood on the Iter Tours website. Our guide was Michele, who is a proud "local" of the neighborhood (we walked by his apartment building during the tour). During the tour, we learned a TON about the history behind this not-very-touristy neighborhood. We also ate a lot of delicious food from locally owned restaurants. The tour started with a glass of prosecco and ended with scoops of gelato-how perfect is that? This was our second tour with Michele. We really appreciated how easy it was to book his tours and how reasonably the tours were priced---especially for the small size and high quality of the tours. We'd booked other Rome tours with larger tour companies and quickly became frustrated by their impersonal nature. We highly recommed Michele and Iter Tours for memorable "boutique" tours.

My husband and I took the "Criminal Tour" on Halloween evening, our third night in Rome. We were so happy with our experience that we booked another tour with Michele and Itertours the next day! The tour is packed with historical and contemporary information--by the end, I felt like I had taken a college course, rather than a 3-hour tour. My favorite take-aways from the tour were the stories about the elephant statue outside the St Maria Sopra Minerva Basilica and the tragic murder of Aldo Moro. Take the tour to find out what I mean! Oh, and also the coffee was absolutely delicious! Our guide, Michele, was friendly, super-organized and extremely knowledgeable. He is obviously passionate about history and he answered every question we threw at him with ease! The tour was easy to book and very reasonably priced. Our group was small, so there was plenty of time of personal interaction with the guide which we appreciated. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in a look at some of the fascinating "criminal history" of Rome!
