About
Please note that the passageway to access St.Peter's from the Sistine Chapel is temporarily closed due to precautionary safety measures. When this occurs you will spend more time inside the Museums & Chapel and your guide will still give you an introduction to the church should you wish to visit this on your own at a later time. This tour is a great way to beat most of the crowds at the Vatican’s two busiest attractions. Using skip the line, early access tickets, you’ll see both the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica in the morning before a lot of tourists even wake up. With an expert, English-speaking guide to brief you on the history, art, and architecture of both sites, this is a quick but informative way to view two world-famous attractions in peace.

Great experience with early access
Aug 2021
This was a great tour. We started with a lovely breakfast in a courtyard inside the Vatican, which was such a peaceful way to begin. We then received an informative tour, including spending time in the Sistine Chapel when very few others were there.

THIS COMPANY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY
Do not use this company!!! They refuse to honor a refund agreement and will keep your money regardless. They still have a false refund policy on their website but forget about them ever refunding.

DO NOT BOOK or you'll be sorry!!!
Jul 2020
Add us to the list this disreputable company tried to rip off. Cancelled our tours when Covid19 hit back in April. After months of back and forth delays and offers for credits only, I was left with no other option than to dispute my credit card charges (I did get the credit back on my card even though it had been over 90 days). I fear this is the only way anyone will get their money back. It's a waste of time and emotion trying to deal directly with Walks of Italy. They are trying to change their cancellation policy after the fact and that's just underhanded. Recent good reviews are from trips last year, which I bet they solicited to try and improve their ratings. Every other company I booked with for our 3 week trip refunded with no delays. Avoid this company - their cancelation policy is a joke.

This tour company does not honour their cancellation policy.
Jul 2020
This tour was advertised as being totally cancellable. For the last 4 months I have been trying to get a refund on my tour as our Italy trip had to be cancelled due to Covid. There have been no responses to my emails, and it is impossible to contact anyone in the company.

Do not book with this tour operator unless you are 100% sure that you will be able to go!

(I have been successful in canceling other tours I had booked through Viator)

Refuses to honer cancellation policy
Jun 2020
In February, I booked two tours for July 2020. However, when my airline cancelled flights to Italy in late May, I requested refunds for both tours. The stated written policy on my confirmation is that they will grant a full refund if cancelled 72 hours prior to departure. However, after repeated email exchanges, I am being told the same as everyone else. They will not give me a refund as they promised in writing and will give me vouchers for the future instead. They seem to be pulling a switch and bait on their customers and engaging in unethical business practices. I noticed that they referred to "Force Majeure" as an excuse to rip off its customers who did business with them in good faith. I would never trust this company and hope that they not be allowed to continue ripping off customers.

I plan to dispute the charges with the credit card company.

I also noticed that they are telling people on this site to re-contact the "management team." Has anyone done this and what was the result?

Best Tour with early access
Feb 2020 • Family
This tour was recommended by a friend who did it a few months ago. Sev, our guide, shared a wealth of information with us about all aspects of the Vatican that we visited, from the artwork to church history. His knowledge showed and he was a great presenter. Be warned it is over 3 hours long, but WELL worth the price of admission, especially to have a smaller crowd in the Sistine Chapel. Excellent job!

Maria our guide was great very knowledgeable and welcoming. The one tip I would suggest to anyone is download a audio tour of the Sistine chapel, we noticed it too late to download one but rick Steve’s has a free one we listened to after which was good! Nothing against our guide as she isn’t allowed to speak when inside. But over all getting in early is totally worth it

Hi 844krisk, Thank you for you kind review of our Pristine Sistine Express tour. You are absolutely correct, guides are not allowed to speak in the Sistine Chapel, as it is a solemn place of worship, but we think this idea is an excellent one! We shall certainly be taking note of it for development, as it is something we are already considering for the future. We hope to see you again on your next adventure abroad. The Walks Team

Pristine Sistine: No Regrets!!!
Burcu, or just Boo was our tour guide. Well worth setting the alarm clock early to have such a well organized and educational tour of all you need to see. Our first visit to Italy and we knew we had to see the Vatican. It would have taken two days and I would have missed 75% of things if not for the guidance and skillful maneuvering by her. Seeing the Sistine Chapel prior to the throngs of tourists and skipping the line to see St. Peter’s Basilica was worth the price of admission. Highly recommend Walks of Italy and consider yourself lucky if you get the seasoned veteran Boo as your guide!

A comprehensive visit
Dec 2019
We chose the Pristine Sistine tour because it seemed to have the earliest access to the Sistine Chapel. We visited the week before Christmas so lines weren't huge, but there were definitely other people. True to advertisement, when the doors opened our guide got us through security and we headed straight for the chapel. When we arrived there were maybe 40 people in the chapel which made for a very relaxing way to view this historic room.
That was just the start. After the Sistine Chapel we walked through parts of the Vatican Museum. I don't think it's possible to see the whole museum in a meaningful way in a single day. Our guide took us to some of the highlights and then offered to let us end our tour in the Vatican museum and see other collections on our own - or complete the tour and go to St Peter's Basilica. [We went on to St. Peter's]
The church is very proud that they are the largest in the world. The interior is quite impressive.
Walks of Italy was great to work with. They were well-organized. Our guide was great too. She was knowledgeable about more than just the areas on the itinerary. Plus she was open to questions and if we had a [reasonable] request, she made every effort to accommodate.
