- 1Upon leaving the Colosseum, you’ll see the Arch of Constantine and take a walk to the Forum, the main square and the hub of life in Ancient Rome. Here is the location of the ruins of the Temple of Julius Caesar, built on the site of his cremation, the Arch of Titus, House of the Vestal Virgins, the Senate House, the Basilica of Maxentius and much more. The ruins reflect the blend of political, religious and social activity, for which the Forum was a focal point.Pass byComplesso del VittorianoFontana di TreviPiazza Navona

Amazing! It dates back to the 4th century, and was consecrated in the 8th century. The mosaics are absolutely breathtaking! A very special basilica 'hidden away' in Rome.Written June 17, 2024

- Lana K0 contributionsDowntown Rome in 3 HoursI had a very last minute work trip that would take me to Rome for a single day. (I know, poor me.) I'd never been to Italy before and I would only have that single afternoon/evening of my arrival to see the city. I found Caesar Tours via Trip Advisor and reached out to them to see if they had any walking tours that afternoon. Carmen got back to me right away and recommended their 3-hour Downtown Tour, which would cover Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Navona Square and the Pantheon. Due to my arrival time and the fact that it was Sunday, I wasn't able to do a lengthier tour that would include the Vatican and/or Coliseum. But this tour did not disappoint! My guide, Giorgia, was fantastic. She gave me historical context and insights that made the city come to life. If I didn't go on this tour, I would have seen all the same sights but would have missed out on the sense of wonder and reverence that they deserve. My favorite part might have been ducking into several small basilicas and viewing original Caravaggios on display (who knew that little coin box was there to power the light above the painting - ingenious!). At Trevi Fountain, we had a great laugh witnessing another tourist throw her coin...directly into the forehead of another tourist before shoving me out of the way to make her getaway. Of course, after the incident, we walked down to the lower level where I tossed my coin into the fountain. I hope the promise to return holds true! I will definitely be contacting Caesar Tours again when that day comes.Written October 17, 2017
- Jennifer E0 contributionsHighly recommend! No way would we have enjoyed our stay in Rome without these tours. It was HOT and crowded! The guides bypassed long lines, showed us the highlights, answered our many questions and left us with loads of information about Roman history. We had Paola for the colosseum and Vatican, and Alex drove us down to Pompeii where Giovanna gave us a tour. Paola used a tablet and books to keep the kids engaged any time we had to wait, and the kids were thrilled with the little trinkets she awarded them throughout the tour. We really debating spending the extra money but definitely no regrets!!Written July 14, 2017
- Brady R0 contributionsGreat personal tour, especially for those with kidsOlga did an incredible job of walking us through the Colosseum, Palatine Hill & Forum with our boys (7yo & 5yo). As adults, we still felt like we learned a lot and got the most from our tour and our boys engaged and lasted much longer than if we would have been in a larger group or even on our own. It was worth the price and made that part of our trip one of our favorite things.Written July 12, 2017
- soanar0 contributionsIlluminated tour of Rome for kidsThis was a great tour to do with kids at the start of our visit to Rome. Marco, our guide, was enthusiastic, interesting and most importantly engaged the kids throughout the entire tour. The highlights for the kids were the treasure hunt, the pizza and the gelato. For parents, the tour helped to familiarise us with the city centre and was a great way to spend an evening. Would highly recommend : ask for Marco!Written July 11, 2017
- MiaM0ja0 contributionsExcellent first experience in Rome for young kids!We did the Colosseum Tour yesterday with our three girls, 4,7 and 11years old. This was their first visit and we wanted to ensure we picked the right experience for them. The tour with Paula was certainly the one! You sailed passed long lines, had exciting information both for the kids and us who've been before! The girls were entertained looking for various things and a treasure hunt! Our youngest got tired at times but Paula was amazing and handled it great! Really recommend as first experience! TIP: Bring water bottles as they can be refilled at various stations throughout tour!Written June 16, 2017
- Srdjan J0 contributionsFantastic Tour of Colosseum and ForumCaesar Tours was able to accommodate our family of 4 (2 adults, 14 and 9 year old) on a short notice. We had Paola as our guide and she was fantastic. We never used guides before, but Paola exceeded all our expectations. She was not only extremely knowledgeable about the Colosseum and Forum, but also about Roman history, art and architecture in general. She was also very good with kids on a hot sunny day. She made sure we had breaks and that the kids were engaged. We would hire Paola again anytime.Written June 1, 2017
- ERidley700 contributionsBest tour with kidsWe visited in Rome in April. We were a group of seven with 4 kids (aged 14,13,12 and 11). We booked two private tours with Caesar Tours: Colosseum and Ancient Rome tour and the Vatican tour and asked for a guide who would be able to engage with the children. Francesca was absolutely fantastic. She is a super nice, relaxed and friendly person. She got the attention of the kids straight away by introducing a question and answer game with marking sheets and they were happy to play along for hours listening to every fact and detail with utmost attention. She also came up with little presents/rewards for them which they loved . The tours were very well tailored for both adults and kids. We all learnt a lot and had a fantastic time. So huge thanks to Francesca. Our visit would not be so enjoyable without her.Written May 9, 2017
- Drew K0 contributionsFantastic Family friendly TourWe had a tour with Lucilla from Caesar's Tours. She led myself, my wife, my 13 yr old daughter and our infant through Vatican City and the Coliseum on 2 separate days. Did an excellent job keeping a 13 yr old girl who is often dis-interested engaged and kept her attention throughout the tour by making it a competition. She was very patient with us as we had our 4 month old daughter with us as well. This was a great tour, worth the money & would do it again.Written May 5, 2017
- lawsonclive0 contributionsTour of Colosseum, Vatican & Capitoline MuseumPaola is absolutely fantastic, really knowledgable with a degree in archaeology but also great with children. My three children 11, 8 & 6 loved the different tours she organised for us and so did the adults. Can't recommend her highly enough!Written May 1, 2017
- ShannonMW730 contributionsFantastic tour with Paola!Wow! Paula was wonderful! Our family of 3 adults and 4 kids, ages 10-13, loved every minute of this tour. Paula guided us through the Colosseum and the Forum, whisking us past all the lines, answering all our questions and then some. She had fun little surprises and challenges for the kids - the kids adored her. She was very approachable, yet incredibly knowledgeable. Exceeded our expectations!Written April 30, 2017
- breguna840 contributionsFantastic tours of Rome and VaticanI organised 3 walking tours of Rome and Vatican through Caeser tours. These tours were the Vatican tour, Colosseum tour and the Eternal City tour. Our tour guide was Paola. She was fantastic, very knowledgable and we really enjoyed the tour because of her. She even managed to keep my 11 year old daughter happy and occupied. Please keep up the good work Paola and Caeser tours. Thank you for making our visit to Rome memorable.Written April 13, 2017
- sunwest420 contributionsWONDERFUL TOURS WITH PAOLA - SHE'S THE BEST!!I was a "solo traveler" to Italy over Christmas and, never having been there, wanted to see a few of the sites that were just "history book" places from school. (As an aside, I felt very safe walking alone any time of day or night. The people are wonderful) Having a short time in Rome, I asked the concierge at my hotel if it's possible to have aprivate tour as I didn't want to join a group. She recommended Caesar Tours as the best company and arranged for Paola to meet me for a Coliseum and Forum tour. We passed up the long ticket buyers line and entered immediately with her pass. Paola was the most knowledgeable and interesting guide I could have had. Within minutes, it was more like two good friends sharing an adventure than a "guide/tourist" relationship. The three hours went by much too quickly and then we had dinner together at a nice outdoor restaurant. The next day we met again and toured the Vatican Museums, walked beneath the Sistine Chapel ceiling while she explained the timeline of the Creation that it depicted. As many times as I have seen pictures of the ceiling, I can't begin to describe how stunning it is. At last we visited St. Peter's Basilica while she pointed out all the glorious details. It was drizzling rain when we made a quick walk through of St. Peter's Square and the Nativity scene there. I wish I'd had more time to share Paola's company and see more of Rome but I had to leave the next morning to spend the Christmas week in Soriano Nel Cimino. One thing I didn't get to do, because of the big crowd, was throw a coin in Trevi fountain to insure that I'd be back. (Paola, would you do that for me?) I WILL be back again. There's so much to see and I will call you ahead of time to make sure we can share some more of the beautiful Eternal City and the Italy/Sicily American Cemetery. Thank you, and thank Caesar's Tours.Written January 29, 2017
- cillstrips0 contributionsLuca has brought faith in sightseeing! My husband and I went to Rome for our mini-moon back in August and we fell in love with this beautiful city! My husband is big into sightseeing whereas I can only handle maybe 2 places a day but since we got married and it is all about comprise, he booked a private tour with Caesar Tours to see Vatican museum! What can I say, this was the tour I will always remember. Luca was our tour guide and he was so friendly, knowledgeable and made the whole experience unforgettable! No queuing throughout the tour with his special pass and no waste of time! We spend 3 hours in the Vatican Museum and was by a mile the most enjoyable experience ( well after meeting with Pope himself). Thank you Luca for bringing faith back in sightseeing for me! When we visit Rome next time, will definitely contact Luca and Caesar Tours to explore another place of this incredible Eternal City. Thank you Luca and the team. Our guide Laura provided us with a fantastic skip-the-line tour of the Coliseum and Roman Forum before taking us to the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. She's friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and ensured we had the opportunity to fully appreciate these historical and beautiful sites. We whole-heartedly recommend this tour.
