About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Vitzr0 contributionsWas not Skip the Line, False advertising, Skip this tourThe tour was chosen for the sole reason to skip the lines to get to the top of Basilica. After a 1.5 hour free-access tour of the ground floor, we were told there is no longer Skip the line access and we would have to wait in a 3-4 hour line. Zero value for what was advertised. Also horrible description exactly where to meet for the tour, confusing. Why not send a pin drop? Asking for a refund, horrible.Written October 12, 2024
- danieloconnaughton0 contributionsInteresting and In Depth TourVery meaningful and enriching tour. We learned much about the fascinating “lasagna” (layered ruins) history of San Clemente. Named for Pope St Clement, it was his original house back in the day. The 13th century church is beautiful in its own right but a curious Dominican about 200 years ago began an archeological dig. And he found a church beneath the church, dating to the 4th century. Then he found a house (St Clement’s family’s house) under that church. The final church, in Jerusalem, was the perfect ending. "In Jerusalem” because Constantine’s mother Helena brought over loads of soil from the Calvary hill in order to use as the footing for this church so that Roman pilgrims could walk on the soil that Jesus walked. More importantly she also brought relics of the crucifixion. One is left with a debt of gratitude for St Helena given the need for us to be connected in a tangible historical way to the events of Christ’s life and death. And the tour even included the secret of life!Written October 11, 2024
- timlD2757TI0 contributionsDon’t miss this tour!Paul was amazing! His depth of knowledge and insights put things in perspective. His knowledge of both archeology and history combined to inspire us. This was the most meaningful tours we had in Rome!Written October 10, 2024
- R8784XGpaulp0 contributionsThe Dome and Chapel are once in a life time to see. The grotto was not what I expected at all. Would skip the grottoes fThe tour guide was the best of the best. He knew everything asked of him and even gave personal information about the building and grounds. The biggest fault is the long lines in which we had to stand in. Over an hour for the first line to get into St Peters itself. We saw many people cutting the line to get in the line. I would think that a tour would be able to go to a different line to get in. That is not the case. Other places in Rome offer tours a different way to get in to see the sites. That is not the case at St. Peters. We had to stand in another line over an hour again to do the Dome climb. Our group of people choose to take the stairs instead of the lift to save standing in another long line again. I understand that everyone needs to wait their turn but over 2 hours in lines is not the correct answer. Just my thoughts.Written October 9, 2024

- 282alisonj0 contributionsMost memorable tour of our livesWe booked last minute for a Colisseum and forum tour. Wonderful experience. Gabriel was our guide and his knowledge interspersed with humour made history come to life. Our time was too short but we learned more than expected about Roman history (fact vs myth). Highly recommend taking a guided tour as you will never get the same experience just walking around. Ken and Alison, Ontario, CanadaWritten October 6, 2024
- V2060KGjamesh0 contributionsDifferent from our expectationThe tour was scheduled for either 2 or 2.5 hours. We were surprised that 1 hour consisted of standing in line outside of St Peter’s waiting to get in and listening to a history of it. The tour guide was good. The earphones we were provided were mediocre at best. We probably wouldn’t have taken the tour had we known how it was conducted.Written October 6, 2024

- CatherineD19150 contributionsA great experience.A great little introduction to the catacombs. The only thing I would suggest is that you review the air conditioning systems in your vans. It was unbearably hot in the transport to the catacombs with 10 or so people crammed into a van in searing heat and the air conditioning barely registering.Written September 29, 2024
- sarakB3746NR0 contributionsGreat experienceSilvia was an excellent guide for the St Peter Basilica tour, plus done tour. She was very knowledgeable and friendly, and definitely added to the experience. As a group we queued for about 45 mins to get through security into the church (Sat afternoon in Sept) but Silvia made this pass quickly with continued information about Vatican and the Square. We then had about 100 minutes once inside the Basilica with lots of information and things to see. She provided info on the Dome and Caves but we were then about to complete these on our own at the end of the tour at our own pace (tickets and queue jump provided for the dome).Written September 28, 2024

We signed up for ‘Guided Tour of Colosseum Underground, Arena and Forum’, so that we could access the underground of the Colosseum. It did not disappoint! You may only access this area with a tour guide and honestly.. you wouldn't want to wander without one! There is so much to learn and Pelin (our tour guide) was incredible!! We spent about 3 hours with her and she shared so much history not only about the Colosseum itself, but also about what life was like in Rome at the time. We also had access to the Forum and arena floor in the Colosseum. Again, you would not want to wander the Forum without a guide - you wouldn’t know what any of the ruins are. She also allowed us to stop to take photos as well - we didn’t feel rushed. Booking a tour of the Colosseum and Forum is the way to go and I highly, highly recommend Pelin!

What a wonderful way to explore the Colosseo, Roman Forum, and the underground area!! Our tour guide Fernando was very knowledgeable, friendly, and had great energy even in the summer heat. It was great being able to stroll around so many areas and learn about the history from a guide that made the time pass at a perfect pace. I would recommend this tour to all of my friends given the depth of areas covered and the quality of Fernando professionalism in getting us to where we needed to go in a timely manner. Overall, fantastic way to tour the Colosseo for anyone!

The underground Colosseum tour was absolutely fascinating! Isida has a complete understanding of the building and everything that went on inside of it back to when it was built. She may have dispelled some Gladiator fantasies that Hollywood would like us to believe, but I appreciated the honest truth about what the games and life at that time were actually like. I would absolutely recommend anyone to go with Isida and the Touriks group, they definitely know what they're doing. Thank you, Touriks!

We had our hotel find and book a tour for us so we didn’t know what to expect. We were told to meet in front of the metro half an hour before, and the girl with the sign was easy to find. One woman checked for everyone’s reservations and showed them to their guides. They couldn’t find ours and instead of brushing us off, she quickly resolved it by contacting their office person or whatever and everything was fine. Laura was our tour guide and she was great. It was a hot day (100 degrees) so she made sure everyone had or bought water before we started. She also showed everyone fountains during the tour to refill. The tour was everything we wanted. Started with palatine hill, to the forum, then to the colosseum and the underground (what we were most looking forward to!). Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, pleasant, made sure to stop in the shade when possible, and had answers to everyone’s questions. We had those little speaker/ear bud things to make sure we could always hear her. She also made sure everyone got the pictures they wanted and offered to take them. The entire tour lasted about 2.5 hours. Would def reccomend

Our guide, Massimo, was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and thoughtful, especially on a hot day. He is a Roman, and obviously loves sharing about his city. I'd highly recommend this tour, and Massimo as the guide. Additionally, we had a booking error with a secondary site and Touriks was quick and very responsive in helping us settle the error; would highly recommend this company!

To be clear about this tour, this company doesn’t offer the tours, they just hand you off to tour guides at the Colosseum and the Roman forum, so I don’t know how much control they have over the tour guides. The guide at the Colosseum was pretty poor to average. We did get to see everything, top levels, main level, stage, underground, but the commentary was just poor. She also wouldn’t permit photos while she was commentating which I understand, but made the tour rough since the commentary put us to sleep, very rote.
The Roman forum guide, Tom, was the opposite. Absolute cream of the crop as far as tour guides go. Done many many tours around the world and he really stands out, combining passionate and educational presentation, enlightening commentary, well timed quips, and incredibly organized structure. My traveling companion swears he also works as an educator. I could have listened to him all day, made the Roman forum, admittedly not something I was super excited to see, come alive and be a memorable portion of my trip. Tip my hat to him

Giovanni from Touriks guided us excellently through the Colusseum including it's underground area and on Palatine Hill and through the forum in about 3 hours. He was great at structuring his story, spoken in fluent English and with a good sence of humor. He cathered to the requests from the group, adjusting his walk and storyline in such a way that we saw more than expected. We had enough time to make photos everywhere and even go to the bathroom at Palatine Hill. The audio system allows you to look around a bit more without missing parts of his story. The company organized this tour well, the security and Covid checkpoints didn't delay us much and the hostess at the Colluseum allowed our group to move around with Giovanni without many restrictions. I would highly recommend Touriks and this guide. Only point of improvement would be at GetYourGuide, their description of where to meet the guide is accurate but the area seems a bit disorganized due to other tourguides trying to get clients in the same area. They tell you to look for "the local partner" but they don't mention the name of that partner on their voucher. I eventually found a Touriks employee (recognized by their logo on a yellow sticker of their clipboard) after 15 minutes. He was not visible when we arrived, he was understandably hiding in the shadow of the green kiosk.

Inge led our family of 5, including three teenagers, on a detailed tour of the colosseum underground, the arena, and the forum. She had a ton of knowledge on all fronts, and did a great job of keeping the kids engaged with colorful anecdotes, getting some good family pictures, and adjusting to the rain / weather conditions. We had some stragglers try to “join” our private tour and she politely sent them along. The microphone / earpiece was helpful so that we could catch everything without always hovering. All in all, very good experience.

We participated in this tour on Sunday 18th September 2022.
The tour commenced @ 15.00 pm and our guide named Daniel no. 5 was excellent. He was knowledgeable, kept the group together and at a comfortable pace around the ruins to allow plenty of time for photos and to take in the historical landmarks.
We also felt that when you consider how ridiculously busy the Colosseum is, this tour gave us a small amount of space and separation from the crowds which enhanced the experience and made for easier photography.
Definitely book the underground tour in advance as it is extremely popular and sells out.
To avoid the heat I would recommend booking an early morning or late afternoon tour as there are periods of direct exposure to the elements.
The underground component was really amazing and takes your imagination on a wild ride of all the historical possibilities that may have taken place.
We would definitely recommend this tour.

I really did not like this tour. I would absolutely not recommend it if you can do an Audio guide or another tour group. I actually really wanted to ask for my money back. And I feel terrible saying this but our tour guide should not have been a tour guide, either he was not comfortable speaking English or he didn't know what he was talking about as far as the Colosseum goes. He would say "anyways" in the middle of explaining something he must've said it about 100 times at least. Along with asking us to pay attention to something when we were all staring at him and then he'd give some non important fact after saying pay attention. He didn't know how to answer most of our questions and there was almost no tenacity with his teachings, he would just go into saying something then move onto something else and it was very confusing and difficult to understand anything. Like I said definitely not worth almost $300 for two people. We were just praying for the tour to end to go to anything else in Rome. The colosseum itself was really neat, I'm glad I went I just wish I had other means or another tour to see it.

I know the vouchers are not the tickets, but my voucher only lists my name even though I purchased for two adults. I put in two adult names when I made the booking. Will this be a problem when arriving at the Colosseum?

What time does the tour start? Can we have a tour that starts at 9AM?
Written November 19, 2023
Our tour started exactly at the advertised time. We arrived quite early and had to wait for our scheduled time. Pay very close attention to the meeting point for the Roman forum portion of the tour as a new tour guide will meet you at the exit of the colosseum. We lost most of our group as they didn’t make it to the meeting place on time.
