This was run by a great bunch of people, from drivers to the guide inside Pompeii. Pompeii was amazing but it’s a workout! Take care and watch where you walk - just a hazard of visiting such a wonderful archeological site.
My only complaint about the trip itself was in Sorrento. The restaurant we were ushered into didn’t like to split the bill for 4 parties and the manager was rude about it. I would have preferred we were left in the square allowing us more time to wander around Sorrento, as we really only had 20 minutes following lunch.

Our family of 11 had several tours arranged by Kirby at the Roman Guy. Our party consisted of 6 adults and 5 children ranging in ages 10 years to 11 months. Yes, you can enjoy Rome with an 11 month old, but the way to do it is through tours with the Roman Guy. They made it so easy for us by arranging the particular tours we wanted, obtaining the tickets with expedited entry, arranging transportation and transfers, and, providing guides who gave us context for the venues and smoothed our way through them. One of the venues we saw was the Colosseum with guide, Serena. Serena did a great job in providing historical context, escorting us to the most scenic views, and, all the while doing her best to engage the adults and 5 children. Jad was our guide for the Vatican, and he too, directed us to the most important features, and guided us away from the crowds and to the most important objects. The Roman Guy (Kirby) also arranged day trips to Pompeii and Florence. Sonia accompanied us to Pompeii and Sorrento, providing historical and sightseeing context that we enjoyed. Sasha was our guide in Pompeii and he and the extremely interesting features there really held the interest of the children. Our last major day trip was to Florence where Marco directed us to the best sites and engaged all of us with stories about the artists and their lives. We enjoyed all of our activities that were arranged through The Roman Guy. I highly recommend them for Rome and Italy tours. We could not have asked for better tours, better transfers, or better guidance on our activities. One last note--we went to Rome in late November and had wonderful weather. We encountered occasional rain, but mostly clear days in the 60s. It was a great time to visit.

I can’t rave about this tour enough. It was worth every penny. Our tour guide Sonia was funny, sweet, and extremely knowledgeable! She had amazing recommendations and even took the time to give us all recommendations based on our plans for the next few days! Sorrento was breathtaking and she knew all the right spots to tell us to hit! Pompeii was incredible, more fascinating and educational than I had even imagined. Our guide at Pompeii, Sasha, was HILARIOUS, very friendly, and we learned a ton from him. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

I was disappointed with our tour guide, I don’t remember her name, but she wasn’t very personable and she struggled with interacting with the 8 people on the tour. Bus ride there and back was very long, but I knew that going in. I felt we were just dumped off in Pompeii and handed over to the next tour guide, Michael. He was very good and I enjoyed the tour. Then we were off to Sorrento. The views were nice but that was about it. It was full of overpriced markets selling mostly cheap ceramics. If I were to do it all over again I would take the train from Rome to Pompeii and skip Sorrento, quicker and less money.

I cannot begin to tell how fabulous our day was. We were the only 2 people on our sightseeing tour with Cinzia. Form the first moment we felt like lifelong friends. Her knowledge, charm, outgoing personality and experience made for an amazing day. When we reached Pompeii, Sasha was our tour guide, and I have to believe there is not a better one there. Funny, charming and filled with knowledge about everything that is Pompeii made our day. Then Sorrento to top it all off- do not miss this experience with this tour company. And may you be fortunate enough to get Cinzia and Sasha!

Unfortunately our experience with The Roman Guy on the Pompeii and Sorrento tour did not live up to expectations. First off, they tell you to arrive early so we arrived at 6:30 am at the meeting spot. The guide did not show up until 7 am, when we were supposed to be leaving, and well after all of the people on the tour were there. The guide, Chiara, did not provide any information on any of the places we were going and really did nothing except make sure everyone returned to the bus after each stop. The bus was not clean or well maintained (sticky handles on the seats, peeling window tint, and burned out overhead lights). The bus had trouble on the motorway reaching 40km per hour on even the slightest of hills - the group joked about getting out an pushing it up the hills. All of this led to us being over an hour late to Pompeii which was supposed to be spent touring the site, so we only had 2 hours which did not seem like enough time. The only positive was that our guide in Pompeii was very personable and knowledgeable although he had to rush us around. After Pompeii, we were dropped off in Sorrento and given no information on things to do or see and I can't say there is much to do there except to see some really bad trinket shops, although we found a very nice place to eat lunch in a hidden and tucked away restaurant far from the tourist crowd. We got back to Rome late and well past the 7 pm arrival time. So we spent over 8 hours on a bus and barely 4 hours touring the places we were supposed to see. Not worth it!

We can not express how absolutely perfect this day to Pompeii and Sorrento was! Sonia (our coordinator) and Fabio (our driver) were more than accommodating and did everything in their power to make our day trip out of the City a memorable one. Our group was very small, six total, which made the day even more worthwhile! Picked up promptly we arrived at Pompeii and met up with Carla, our guide for the archeological site. She was amazing and fit in so much in the time we had. While the ancient city of Pompeii was flooded with tourist, Carla took us to all the main sights, and explained what we were looking at in detail and gave us more than ample time for pictures. After our visit, off to Sorrento. Sonia picked out a WONDERFUL place for lunch with a million dollar view. After laughing and sharing a meal, we wandered the narrow streets of Sorrento. Then, Fabio and Sonia made an extra stop to the Limoncello factory for a quick taste and purchase. When we arrived at home, Fabio went out of his way to take us to our hotel, which was so nice and after a long day welcoming! We just can't say enough about our day, company and experience! Thank you So Much for a Most Terrific Day!

Tibor was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgable and genial. Paced but not rushed and we were porovided . with all the infromation we needed. Just about the right time in Sorrento. If you want to go for a dip bring your bathers and a towel and you can swim in the sea at Sorrento.

We knew it would be a long day, but didn't anticipate the extra traffic on a Sunday. It took forever to get away from Sorrento and back on the highway, then we were stuck in traffic heading back into Rome. So, a 12-hour tour turned into more like 14 hours. Be careful the day of week you choose!

The architectural guide through Pompeii was great. With only two hours, she knew what highlights to show us and short cuts to get around the crowds. It was definitely worth the stop in Sorrento, a beautiful town with lots of restaurants and shopping. We also enjoyed a quick stop at the Limoncello factory! The microphone on the bus wasn't working, so we weren't able to hear what our guide/escort had to say about the history and sites along the drive. That was a bit disappointing.

We had a great tour experience with the combination of historic Pompeii and beautiful Sorrento. This is truly a great combination. Pompeii was fascinating. Expert tour guide Francesco, in Pompeii, was amazing. So much information! I recommend a little studying beforehand so you can truly appreciate Pompeii.

Our Tour Guide Sonia was an absolute delight!. She provided excellent guidance and fun information throughout the day. We truly appreciated the time she spent with us and the information she had to offer. Thank You!
