Interesting short visit for da Vinci fans
Small museum but worth the visit if you have time to spare. Some exhibits interactive, audiovisual room excellent but one audiovisual room disappointingly out of order. Unfortunately, carpeted floor created very unpleasant smell due to humidity. Still, if you're a da Vinci fan it's a short, interesting visit.

    Small but nice
I thought the museum was nice. I thought the price was a little high for what was presented, but display were really good some really good information and a lot of reproductions of some of his designs.

    Not worth the time.
Spend your time elsewhere. Waste of time and money. Staff was very friendly, but the exhibition was very sub par. I don’t think with the cost and time at all.

    Interesting experience
Interesting experience mostly for the kids who had the opportunity to come close to some of the Da Vinci phenomenon's most known inventions and paintings. Very friendly staff, interesting gift shop.

    Leonardo, a Renaissance man
Museum of Leonardo Da Vinci, located at the lower level of the Chiesa di Santa Maria del Popolo, was especially interesting to me after reading Walter Isaacson’s book “Leonardo da Vinci”. To tell you the truth, I am a bit technologically challenged, so seeing how Leonardo’s inventions actually work was more intuitive for me than just reading about them. After visiting this wonderful museum, I have become even more convinced that, after so many centuries, the genius of Leonardo is still unsurpassed…His brilliant mind was constantly observing, creating, improvising and frequently struggling… it is so fascinating to see the results of his vision, both in science and in art. He was a true Renaissance man and a visionary - his “resume” is on display in the museum and it tells us volumes about him.

Informative and fun for all ages
The hands-on engineering models illustrate da Vinci's imagination and genius - lots of kids of all ages were enjoying trying them out during our visit. Well laid-out and informative exhibition.

Very interesting museum with some hands-on exhibits so you can try his inventions yourself.
We planned our visit, but the website didn't give a great idea of what to expect. I was worried it would mainly be drawings and text, but many of the inventions were built in full scale, so you could see them better and some you could even operate yourself. My 10 yo son really liked the hands on part. Unfortunately the hands on part was followed by an area where you weren't allowed to touch the exhibits, so this created some confusion. It didn't take long to walk the whole museum, I believe we were less than an hour to see it all and hear the audio guide that went with it. The museum is in a basement, so it was nice and cool compared to the heat of the streets.

Regretted not going to the Florence one but this was so lame - small underground basement didn’t like it

Hands off and skip this museum
Skip this museum which contains many wooden models of Leonardo’s inventions and drawings. Despite being labeled “hands on”, most of the models are labelled “do not touch.” It was a pretty boring display.

    One of best museums...
I didn't expected like the museum., I went there because outside was lashing rain. But I'm glad I did.I'ts not big museum but it's well put together. My favourite was the room where you can sit down and learn the all the genius he was., his quotes and his achievements through the life. And also exhibition with most his inventions.Learning how much one person can make inpact even 500 years later.Incredible. Some people would say it's pricey., but they cleary not been in Borghese museum., I have both experience in one day but this one was way more worth it.

    Fantastic!
This was a facinating exhibition and it showed the genius of Leaonardo da Vinci. Recreated examples of the machinery and workings and the chance to see how they operate. If you have time to spare - the video is very interesting - but be warned - it is quite a long one!

    Museum visit
What an experience this place is. I didn’t know much about da Vinci before I went and learnt so much about what he invented and his life. Definitely worth a visit.

    Cerebral hands on experience
I was on a trip to Italy with my God-daughter and as we were walking back to out hotel from Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant'Angelo we paused in the piazza del Popolo. As we began our walk again we noticed the da Vinci museum and mutually decided to go and check it out. I had read a little bit about it prior to our trip, and so I knew that it was tiny and contained no original paintings. Leonardo da Vinci, however, was so much more that just a painter and this museum is proof of that. With limited space and display, this museum manages to be, and show to the public, how incredibly cerebral this man was. There are many hands on displays to touch or play with, allowing the patrons to fully grasp the concepts of da Vinci's brilliance. I have read other reviews of this museum on this site and am shocked by the expectation and ignorance of the people who wrote those reviews. My God-daughter and I had the Roma pass and therefore the entrance fee was slightly discounted. I think the non discount price is only 12.00 euros. That's a deal!

Great museum and a change from all the bustle
Wonderful museum and good for kids of all ages. Not a place to view original art works etc but a museum dedicated to a clever and ahead of its time man. Learnt a lot about Da Vinci and his works. Doesn’t take long to get around as it is only small but well worth a visit. Some hands on exhibits and other like videos and models. All you need is in English and Italian so no need to get a audio guide. Go there.

With all the amazing original art, paintings and architecture in Rome, this Leonardo museum in Rome is a lame excuse for a museum. There is nothing original in this small 5 room place, only a couple of short films, and twenty or so modern, mini, wooden reproductions of Leonardo’s inventions and some wall blow ups of his sketches. A complete waste of the 10
minutes it takes to go through it, and the 10 euros per person entry fee.

24€ for 2, we are students but we thought why not. Well for 24€ you have no toilet, a museum that smells of humidity, only replicas, you go around in 30 min GRAND MAX if you really read everything, and to top it all off the shop sells really expensive objects. The only nice thing is the virtual reality experience .. that we didn’t try since it was 7€ more per person and for only about ten minutes. In short if you want to make museums, there are many who have magnificent works to offer us, and for 2€ for the under 26s but not this one ..

The exhibition is excellent and good value. Well laid out, the text and objects realized from Leonardo's drawings give a clear sense of both his genius and his pragmatism. Get the recorded commentary for its presentation of context and specific explanation of some points of engineering. We were lucky, it wasn't crowded but I think the space could prove cramped in high season.

What a gem of a museum: small, well laid out, showing working replicas of Leonardo’s inventions and the walls hung with his extraordinary art. Multilingual audio guides are available. A separate version for children too.

Our family really enjoyed this wonderful hands on museum. They have done a great job of showing us the talent of the artist and the genius of the inventor. The displays are world class. This small museum has a lot to offer and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.

Beforehand the museum is expensive for what it offers, they tell you what is essential at the entrance, I suppose to do more.

The place does not have air conditioning so it is a bad thing to try to do it step by step, the Audio Guides tell nothing but obvious and what you can see on TV, without more, the models well, there they are, without more, but the paintings are unfortunate, they put some videos and do not explain anything interesting.

Anyway, four people came in, made money, and we're not coming back.

Good to know that there is no work by Leonardo da Vinci in this museum. €14 for reproductions of models and paintings. The museum is very small, there are no toilets and it was in the basement. We took the audio guide for €3 and that's the only reason I gave it two stars because without it I wouldn't have learned anything. 17 € for an hour we did the tour is clearly not a good deal.

The museum is full of Leonardo’s prototypes, giving you a perspective of his creative mind. Some of them also involved interaction, like building Da Vinci’s self supporting bridge. Really enjoyed the visit.

This is an amazing museum in the heart of Rome. It shows the genius of da Vinci - the engineer as well as the artist. It is interactive and appeals to children and adults alike. I’m so glad we stumbled upon it. Something completely different; heartily recommended!

Fantastic way to highlight this genius. Lots of fun for curious of all ages. Made a treasure hunt of finding his other sculptures outside St.Peter’s. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, experiments- a great example of the diversity of man for everyone to witness.
