- 401loria0 contributionsBest tour guide!Ferdinando is truly a wonderful tour guide. He is so knowledgeable and engaging. It was the best money we spent on tours while in Italy. His background keeps it interesting. It can be very overwhelming on your own but having Ferdinando helped us see the most important parts of Rome. Absolutely a must!Written October 27, 2024
- renatabP1280KJ0 contributionsWonderful Colosseum and Vatican tour with Ferdinando! We had two tours with Ferdinando and they were head and shoulders above any other tours we have experienced. Ferdinando is a wealth of information and his love for his country’s history, art, and beauty is infectious. His experience and archeological knowledge provided insights that enriched our time in Rome. There are so many more tours that he offers and I wish we were here longer to go on them. Hope to see you again soon Ferdinando, Renata and MartyWritten October 11, 2024
- marikor2930 contributionsFerdinando is wonderful!Ferdinando is wonderful! We took a tour of Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel with Ferdinando. He provides lovely gems of information that relate ancient times to modern-day culture. He is a pro and will help you follow all the rules for any site without any hassle. We loved how he kept us moving at a gentle, but steady, pace so our bodies didn't tire of standing in one place too long. My teenage sons enjoyed this tour and Ferdinando. We would definitely do a tour with him again. Next time we are in Rome, we will do the Pompeii tour with Ferdinando!Written July 20, 2024
- 928robbiec0 contributionsWonderous Rome!We have just returned from Rome ,my daughter who is a student ,my 77yr old mum and I and we have had the most amazing nearly 4 day stay . Ferdinando was recommended to us by friends who said he was brilliant and as we wanted to get the most from our visit we booked him , and I am so glad we did ! Our first tour was an evening stroll taking in Piazza Navona , The Pantheon , Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and more , the next day the Vatican City , Sistine chapel and St Peter's Basilica , and the next The Colosseum , Palatine hill and the Roman Forum . Ferdinando's knowledge and passion for the City and it's history is huge and infectious , it brought the City to life and has inspired us to learn more . The tours were an absolute highlight and had us talking about all the wonderful things we had learn't , I have even bought a couple of books to find out more ! - Lynberly0 contributionsFantastic tour with PhD Archaeologist via Segway! We had so much fun on our Segway tour with Ferdinando! We did it the first day in Rome and are so glad to have learned so much so quickly. Ferdinando taught us how to ride safely, tailored the content based on other tours we had booked, and took us to many sights that we couldn’t have on foot nor by bus. His knowledge as an anthropologist helped us understand Rome much more, and he is kind, helpful, and has excellent English! A friend recommended this tour that she had enjoyed as well. We are glad she did, and recommend it to you, too!Written September 18, 2023

- 淳 中0 contributionsResponsive, punctual and knowledgeableThe most advantages of Ferdinando’s tour were a) he was always responsive ; when I asked something about tour in the planning phase, he replied within 24 hours every time. I could plan the itinerary without any frustration, especially on this most popular tour in Rome/Vatican starting in early morning. b) Tour driver was punctual. Because the tour starts from 8am, and the time is quite important to enjoy Vatican museum without crowded people. The driver who is Ferdinando’s business partner came to my hotel at 7:20. No stress at all. c) Ferdinando knew everything about Vatican and their masterpieces. And his behavior was very personal. We could enjoy 2.5 hour tour in early morning with less people. Thanks Ferdinando. This tour was highlight of my family’s 2 weeks travel in Europe. Written August 29, 2023
- dleeheartsfirenze0 contributionsWhile in Rome, book all your tours with Ferdinando! After booking two tours (Sistine Chapel/Vatican + Colosseum/Roman Forum) with Ferdinando through our apartment site, we were so impressed that we asked Ferdinando to take us on a private tour to Tivoli (Hadrian's Villa). What a delightful experience! Not only is it so peaceful and beautiful at Hadrian's Villa, but Ferdinando made our tour very personalized and calming. He is an extremely knowledgeable Archaeologist with a Ph.D. and is also very kind. I only wish I had known all the different tours Ferdinando does, as I would have booked all our tours with Ferdinando while in Rome. I've already decided that the next time we visit Rome, I will ask Ferdinando to be our guide for all our excursions. Graze mille, Ferdinando!Written July 9, 2023
- FLorraineB0 contributionsWonderful Private Tour of OstiaThe three of us truly enjoyed our private tour of Ostia with Ferdinando. Ostia is as impressive a site as Pompei and Herculaneum in many ways. And Ferdinando is an awesome and informative guide -- highly reccomend!Written May 28, 2023
- Wanderer178206842950 contributionsOne of the highlights of our trip to RomeI had been to the Colosseum and the Forum on a previous trip to Rome, but this visit with Ferdinando made the experience a rich one. He is knowledgeable--there wasn't a question we threw at him that he couldn't answer. He shares the perfect mix of description and history to make the tour interesting and engaging. He is personable and wicked smart. He even held the attention of the youngest on our tour--ages 8 and 10. His passion for the history and the archeological significance of the structures and artifacts of ancient Rome draw you in. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for stairs. Don't forget to pack your patience--there are a lot of people who come to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World. I'm so delighted that we found Rome in Tours. Your visit to the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and the Forum will be unforgettable if you share part of your day with Ferdinando. He will help you navigate the lines, security and the crowds to provide a quality tour experience. Highly recommend.Written April 16, 2023

- 869dianneh0 contributionsFantastic private tour of Appian Way and Roman RuinsWe loved our tour of the Appian Way and Roman aqueducts with Ferdinando! This is such a peaceful, quiet part of the city (esp. on a Sunday). You can tell Ferdinando loves Rome and its history. He weaved such an interesting and captivating narrative of significant historical figures, ancient sites, and local lore. Ferdinando was also so helpful with our Rome itinerary recommending restaurants, can't-miss sites, and transportation options. We appreciate his friendliness and accommodation!Written March 31, 2023

Ferdinand was a knowledgeable guide who navigated the structure and the crowds to show us the best vantage points and interesting spots.
He had a low-key delivery, and used the information he had accumulated during his studies of Roman archeology to make this tour absolutely fascinating.
He helped make our trip to Rome memorable.

This tour was the highlight of our trip in Rome. Ferdinando’s knowledge was broad and deep, and his enthusiasm for Roman history was contagious. His presentation style was engaging for our whole groups—-teens to seniors. We learned so very much—about the forum and colosseum and also about how to see them thru an archeological lens. Highly recommended. Worth every Euro!!

Ferdinando is the best guide for this tour. His background and education make him the most qualified to give historical and accurate information, while keeping it light and interesting. As a AAA travel agent, I book his tours and guided walks whenever I can for all my clients.

Such an amazing tour! The Colosseum really speaks for itself, and I was so lucky to experience the underground on a VIP tour with Ferdinando.
as well as being really great company, Ferdinando was the perfect host.
an archaeologist with lots of fascinating stories.
In addition to a "regular tour", Ferdinando also told me about the history of construction and reconstruction, and Italy's cultural approach to preserving sites like the Colosseum.
Truly amazing, and worth every cent!

In late September 2024 we took a 4-person Skip-the-Line tour with Ferdinando Badagliacca. It was the highlight of our entire 10-day visit to Rome. Ferdinando is a trained archaeologist who is passionate about his topic. He explains details: from the materials used to build the Colosseum, the various type of events held there, the dynamic between the emperors and the people of Rome, the cremation site of Julius Caesar, to the types of trees and flowers on the Palatine. If you love history and Rome, this is for you! We highly recommend Ferdinando!

Very good. I told Dr. Badagliacca about my personal interests; for instance how I didn’t care about the Colosseum but did care about the Forum and pre-Imperial Roman history. He was able to customize the tour to my personal interests, and gave detailed explanations of the historical significance of each Forum and Palatine site we visited.

Ferdinando was an excellent guide. He made the tour very engaging and interesting, even for our teen daughter. He provided time to enjoy the sights and take pictures as well, which we appreciated. There was a hiccup with having to wait in line instead of “skip the line”, but he made up for it with a great tour.

Ferdinando showed the forum to us with our 80 year old parents and our kids (11 and 7). He adapted his descriptions to both levels of knowledge and the kids were fascinated and intrigued. His English is without an accent. He delivers historical knowledge with an extra layer of archeological context due to his PhD and experience. He was patient with elderly difficulties in moving quickly. He also helped the kids find an actual piece of Roman mosaic on the path.

Ferdinando was a very informative guide and was great to have with us while exploring everything we did! We had a great time and learned so much that we would have no idea. He was able to tell us a lot more than just what was on the surface which was fantastic. We were a wild group and he was able to joke with us which was great! Thank you Ferdinando!

This was our first time to Rome and didn't know what tours around the Colosseum would be like, but after seeing many tours with big groups and no interaction, just a guide with a microphone, i'm glad we found Ferdinando. He said he only does small groups and it turned out my wife and I had a private tour. Which was good since my wife asks a lot of questions. He answered all with a smile. I have nothing to compare Ferdinando's knowledge to, but i can't believe the other tours were this informative. He is so knowledgeable about the building techniques and history, not only of the Colosseum and the Roman Empire, but the relationships of the people involved. Be prepared for a lot of information. It was a great tour.

I am interested in booking the 4:30pm tour for my family of four on 2 July. We land at the airport at 1:10 pm. Do you agree that we should be able to make it through the airport, checked into our lodging and to the Colosseum on time? Also, can you confirm that this tour includes skip the line tickets? Thanks!
