Stunning!
Aug 2021
First things first, make sure you are in shape if you want to climb the dome. During Covid, the Vatican was mostly empty (awesome!) and we did the dome climb first. Most of the time the dome is pretty packed so climbing the stairs you get lots of breaks. Due to the emptiness of the Vatican there was no wait to climb the dome and let me be the first to tell you, if your shape is more round than hour glass, you may want to skip it!

That said, our tour guide Rafa was AMAZING! Lots of history and details in both the Vatican and the Basilica (don't skip the crypts!) were awesome and was one of the best tours we had in Italy. She was very kind and exceptionally patient. She made sure that my friends mom (who has health issues and difficulty walking/standing for long periods of time) was taken care of and comfortable. Great tour!

A Must See
Dec 2020
I so appreciated the enthusiasm of our tour guide, Franco Assorgi. While nothing compares to experiencing the Vatican and Sistine Chapel in person, this was excellent as I could concentrate on Franco's knowledge and expertise - of Michelangelo, Raphael, the Popes! and the level of detail was amazing. I took notes throughout the tour and will reflect back on them. Also enjoyed the polling questions - that made the tour seem more interactive.

No better way to tour the Vatican-6 stars
Feb 2020
Really enjoyed our guide, Franco. There is a lot to take in and Franco moved and stopped with just the right pacing. He had great stories and insights about the art, history, and the building's inhabitants. Getting in early is also key.

Fabulous!
Jan 2020 • Family
We didn't do any other packaged tours during our visit to Italy, only this one. Because the Vatican is vast and we are really quite clueless about it (not even Catholic) and because the popularity of the site we chose an in-depth, early entry tour and felt it was worth every penny for the 4 of us.

Getting inside the door and through security was a breeze. The Sistine was so lovely to view from both sides of the room without having to compete for floor space (we could sit). Our guide spoke to us as though we were the only people on the tour - she had a way of giving you her full attention while speaking like an old friend. Extremely knowledgeable and competent. And amusingly candid.

The time flew by even though it was a long tour.

The Vatican is an amazing place and I am very glad we visited, but even more glad we booked this amazing tour.

Brilliant Tour! Jad is an excellent guide!
Jan 2020 • Couples
We took the tour starting 10.30am with Jad, his great sense of humour and excellent knowledge made it a trip to remember!

We were a small group of 5 (2 couples and a solo traveller) so we were able to navigate the crowds in the Vatican Museums with ease and spend time learning about the artworks and history. Jad delivered lots of information about the collections, art and Papal history in a very conversational, friendly and funny way, we felt very looked after as he always asked about our comfort during the trip and whether we wanted to stop for toilet breaks, to buy anything from the museum shops and if we had any questions about any of the art or history. It was well worth taking the tour because even in low season the museums are very busy and there is SO much to see! We were able to spend time at the popular attractions such as the Michaelangelo and Raphael works and even get some information about the more modern art pieces and their significance. This made the tour very comprehensive and well paced, we didn't feel rushed at all but the time seemed to fly by (as it should when you are having fun!)

Jad also recommended other places to visit in Rome and Italy for when we return as we were only on a short trip.

We will book further tours with The Roman Guy in the future, thanks Jad!

(P.S The Caffe Vaticano, where the group meets outside, is EXTORTIONATELY PRICED AND A TRAP - do not enter! We arrived early to have some coffee and a snack before the tour as we knew we'd be inside the Vatican until after lunchtime; we found a more local coffee bar/bakery called "Bar Novecentotredici" a couple of blocks away, less than a 5 minute walk from the meeting spot near to Ottiviano metro station. We both had excellent coffee, a huge cream pastry and water for a total bill of €5.50 there. The Roman Guy group has nothing to do with the Cafe Vaticano it's just the spot where all the tour groups meet as it is conveniently located opposite the entrance to the Vatican Museum. Jad and his colleague advised us all to be careful to avoid places such as the tourist traps before we began the tour and gave some of our tour buddies suggestions of good places to go instead)

Very knowledgeable guide!
Jan 2020
Our guide, Eleanora, could not have been better. Her knowledge of history, art, architecture and sculpture was superb. Although we had been to the Vatican and St. Peter's many times, she pointed out details that we overlooked so our experience was full and enjoyable. She was also very considerate offering to personally show one of the participants where to get Mass cards after the tour was over.

The Vatican & Vatican Museums...Best Tour in Rome
Nov 2019
We booked a tour through the The Roman Guy and Marco from City Wonders took us on a six hour tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peters Basilica. Wow! Marco knew his history and gave twelve of us in the group the best imaginable tour you could get. We had early entry and skip the line tickets which is a must. Vatican City is most definitely one of the top places to visit in the world. Combine that with a guide who is versed in art history and roman history and easily conveys what he knows and it doesn't get any better than that!
