About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Dinzz290 contributionsVery good walking tour in the City of Rome - Eitenne is a very good guideEtienne was very knowledgeable, patient and friendly. He conducted the tour very professionally, patiently explain important aspects of the places we visited.Written September 11, 2024
- 633damarisr0 contributionsVery good. The night tour was a great way to bypass the crowds. The guide was very informative. Easy to understand. He made many interesting points. Went with another our so we were able to ask questions.Written September 9, 2024
- LizzieQM0 contributionsPoor experienceThis was a real shame, we turned up with plenty of time to go at ten to 6, when we were told the tour would start at 6 from Piazza di San Marco. We couldn’t see anyone there gathering a group together, but another couple was also booked on the tour and trying to find it. After ten minutes they whatsapped and called the company, but couldn’t get through, so they gave up and went away. At 20 past I called again and was told the 6pm tour left from Piazza de La Republica! I sent pictures to show that I had been sent the wrong starting point information, and was offered an alternative much later tour - but it was too late in the evening for us, and when I requested a refund I was turned down! This is most unfair as I (and the other couple) were clearly sent the wrong starting point information for the 6pm tour! Not good practice - when you make a mistake you should own it and offer a refund!Written September 6, 2024
- doriannem3100 contributionsExcellent tourThe tour guide, Carolina, was fantastic! Despite the hot weather, she made it very pleasant. She is very knowledgeable Highly recommended!Written August 22, 2024
- Sophie7170 contributionsInterestingTour was very informative and interesting with lots of tips about local places. If you don't want a small amount of people on your tour, don't book the 3pm one though as it was dead!Written August 10, 2024
- seedegraff0 contributionsHorrible! We got no tour & no refund!! Buyer beware!!!We waited for 45 minutes at Barberini Piazza for the tour guide. It was very confusing as there were several other tour groups forming…but not ours. We waited, with about 30 others, near the fountain (as instructed in the directions). Someone finally came, about 10 minutes late (at 9:40a) and gathered all of us together. We were divided up, and told to stand in line. (See photo) Once we reached the front of the line, we were told it wasn’t our tour! We were left standing in the hot sun, all by ourselves, with no tour to go on!! This is a very poorly-managed tour company and in addition, Viator would not give us a refund. While it wasn’t a lot of money we paid, it doesn’t matter — we did NOT RECEIVE what we paid for. Check out other reviews and do some investigating. I’m not happy, as this was a once-in-a-lifetime trip for our teenage grandson. It was not a great introduction to Rome for him, or us!!Written July 31, 2024

- Paul T0 contributionsAvoid this tourNot a very good tour. I don't recommend it. The tour guide showed up at the exact time the tour was supposed to start and started the tour late, hoping more people would show up. There were only 3 of us in the tour. There were very long periods of silence while walking to the next place he brought us. He did not explain things very well and was not personable. Not recommendedWritten July 18, 2024
- Angela B0 contributionsFun relaxing tour w VlataIf you are lucky enough to get Vlata you will have a great time. She is so sweet and knowledgeable. The tour was a comfortable pace for age 11 to 73. We covered a lot and ended at Vatican City the highlight for those who had not managed to see it in the day but after that everyone in our group of 12 wanted to go to St Peters Basilica. I had gone at4 earlier that day on a Tuesday the security line was only 20 people and we walked right in the church. A service started it was amazing. Anyways tip her well she deserves it !Written July 16, 2024
- 74paigeg0 contributionsPerfect tour for our first day in Rome.Perfect tour for our first day in Rome. Our guide was great and we saw many of the important sites. Perfect for teens & adults. - bmcloughlin10 contributionsGood but not greatGood but not great - like everything, it depends on the tour guide and our tour guide was not brilliant. But, you get what you pay for so I can't complain too much. The tour only covers a few different places....so its not an extensive tour of the full city....but its definitely useful to get your bearings when you arrive in the city. You could walk and see all the sites for free yourself.....but I think its always great to have a little bit of history and a little bit of context from a local guide, it really enhances the visitor experience.Written July 15, 2024

Friendly and open to questions from start to finish , Michael shared historical-architectural information at every point of our walk through the city (pointing out details we would otherwise not have noticed), keeping the narration live and interesting at all times. He also recommended cool ‘’unicorn’’ places around Campo de Fiori and Trastevere, some of which I visited after the tour. It was great to have a guide who puts so much passion and enthusiasm in his work.

This was a great tour Michael was our guide he was very knowledgeable and made it interesting, he was friendly and engaging. Unfortunately, for Michael the tour group was small, consisting of two couples.
Michael answered all the questions posed from members of the group and gave fascinating details of the areas history and background information. Michael covered the history of the area from ancient times through to the modern day.
The cost of this tour is a minimal booking cost. However, at the end of the tour you give a
gratuity to show your appreciation to the guide. Please note the guide does not receive any of the booking fee, so if your guide is good be generous with your tip. Excellent tour experience !!!!
The tour was a good 2hours and Michael certainly earned the gratuities from our group.

Our guide was informative, engaging, and dedicated. She also took care to see that everyone could hear and that everyone was comfortable despite the brief rain shower we experienced. My husband and I learned much about the history of the Jewish population in the Roman ghetto of Trastevere, now a place filled with trendy shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this tour.

I have taken this tour before with a local female Italian woman, maybe five years ago. She was amazing! I brought my friend on this trip and wanted to take the tour again to share the experience with her.
The guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the things he discussed on the tour. Several points of feedback…It was a walking tour but we stopped in front of the theater in a back alley area where there was dog poop and unsightly neighborhood for at least 20 minutes to hear about the theater and some history. The tour I did before stopped in a more scenic spot to view the theater. The next stop we made was behind a restaurant in the restaurant area. The restaurant was closed but the guide had us all pull up chairs that were stacked up and sit in a circle for at least 20 minutes to hear more history. It was a walking tour so to sit for that long was not appropriate. At times the guide seemed like he was the center of attention for the tour not the JG or Trastevere. We did not tip well because I was disappointed compared with the tour I had done years ago

This was an excellent, value for money tour. Our Guide Caroline was fantastically knowledgeable and looked after us in the extreme heatwave, making use of shade and water fountain stops on route all the way. The history gave a whole different perspective on the area and insight into the experience people who lived there have had. One which isn't really taught overseas. Highly recommend this as a great 1.5 - 2 hour walk to include in any plans to see Rome.

My husband and I have been to Rome a few times. We love Rome and are passionate about history. Joe was a wonderful guide. So interesting, knowledgeable and engaging. We learnt so much about Jewish history in Rome but also the history of Rome itself and gained a huge appreciation for the layout and design of Rome. We highly recommend Joe for professional and passionate interpretation of Rome and it’s people.

An intimate area with history, small restaurants appealing gift shops and yet a sense of the antiquity of these two distinct areas.....communities. Outside of the magnificence of Rome’s Vatican, Collosieum etc. these two areas deserve a full day on foot.

This walking tour with Joe as our guide was truly excellent. The tour itself is free but participants can give a donation to the guide as they see fit. It was fascinating to realise that the Jewish community is an integral part of Rome going right back to its origins. The guide gives an immense amount of historical detail which would be good to include in any visit to to the city.

Carolina our tour guide was very knowledgeable. It was very easy to understand her. She took us through the history of the Roman Jewish community and its Pagan and later Christian neighbours. from Ancient Rome until today stopping at all the important landmarks around the Jewish ghetto. She described the good the bad and the ugly in the complex relations between the Jews and their neighbours and how it is reflected in the architecture of the neighbourhood. She also included the general history of Rome and pointed to important landmarks of the city as we passed them.
In the two hours tour I learned more about Jewish life in Rome than I did in previous visits to Rome.
