Stand where gladiators stood on the floor of the Colosseum, then rise up through the ranks to survey the vista from the Emperor’s box on a self-guided tour. These skip the line passes give you special admission to areas the public doesn’t always get to see, plus entrance through the Gladiator’s Gate with direct access to the partially restored floor of the Colosseum.

What to Expect

Feel the glory and majesty of Rome at the height of its power as you walk on the very same stones as those who came to fight here in gladiatorial combat, treading in their footsteps out onto a partial reconstruction of the arena floor, looking up at the tiered ruins that were once filled with some 50,000-80,000 bloodthirsty spectators.

You are sure to hear their echoes as your eyes are drawn upward, your body turns and your mind is boggled by the elegance and engineering prowess of what was once the largest structure of its kind in the world, all from this unique 360° view, home to the gladiatorial games, exotic staged hunts, theatrical executions and even mock sea-battles.

Enjoy up-close views of the underground area where the spectacle was brought to life, and the panorama from where the Emperor’s box once stood, all special access areas that standard ticket holders don’t get to see.

In addition, gain access to the second floor, tracing the Colosseum’s circumference in an effort to understand what it must have been like when the stands were packed, the crowds were roaring and a gladiator’s destiny hung on their whims.

After the tour, have the option of staying inside the Colosseum to continue your exploration or follow the representative to take advantage of the Skip the Line access to the Roman Forum. Be able to hike to the top of the Palatine Hill for an exceptional bird’s-eye perspective over the Forum and Circus Maximus.

Colosseum with arena entrance

It was a shame it was cancelled. My husband was so looking forward to it especially as it was the gladiators entrance. We could have rebooked but we were coming home today. Just really upset.More

Thanks Barbera! Great tour!!

Booked only the day prior via Viator. I actually think this tour undersells itself! It says ‘self tour’ but you actually get a guide for a large part of the tour which was unexpected but really added to the tour as a whole as it...More

Wonderful tour

Fabrizio was our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and kept things interesting and fun. Our group had some people with mild mobility problems, but Fabrizio always kept everyone together.

Can never go wrong with City Wonders!

I would suggest first and foremost to get as early as tickets are possible if you are planning to visit during summer time. I visited early September @ 1pm. Husband and I were tired of getting up early and it was HOT. Secondly, these are...More

Yea the "gladiator" entrance is the lowest accessible part. Limited time there. Maybe 10-15 minutes and they move you on so the next group can come. But worth it I thought. People who didn't pick this option you can see them... More
