What to Expect
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Castello di Santa Severa, Via del Castello, 00050, Santa Marinella Italy

At either 9:30am or 2pm meet your private English-speaking driver right where your ship docks at Civitavecchia Port. Be whisked away in a luxury vehicle just 30 minutes away for a 4 hour trip to Santa Severa Castle. Our aim is for you to have a worry free day, so we will purchase in advance your entrance fees for Santa Severa Castle. We know that everybody has a different touring style, so you can choose to pay an additional supplement on site for an audioguide or wander around the castle's collections at your own pace.

Inside Santa Severa Castle there is a wealth of history waiting to be discovered. There is a maritime museum, real life medieval costumes and a tower offering stunnning views over the sea that you can climb for a small supplement.

We said this would be a relaxing trip and we were not lying! What better way to chill out than with a locally produced wine-tasting accompanied by some traditional treats from the Lazio region? We will book it in advance for you at Santa Severa Castle itself with an addictional cost. If you don't want to drink wine then you can still enjoy an organic fruit juice. All produce is top quality.

When you have finished your driver will take you back to Civitavecchia Port to catch your cruise ship.

Colosseum review
The guided tour of the Colosseum was everything we hoped for. We learned a ton that we would not have known if we did not do the guided tour. Our tour guide, Dennis, did a fantastic job.

Georgia the highlight!
Our tour was great because of Georgio. I wish I could take him travelling all throughout Italy, he is very knowledgeable and I learned a lot. The problem is I now compare all tour guides to him! Thank you so much for a fantastic tour.

Vatican and Coleseum tours
We booked a full day via Head Out. We met out guide at Vatican easily as we were told to look for pink I Love Rome shirts. We also knew we were on our own to get to Coliseum. These two tours combined were not inexpensive. Our group had 28 people. Mara our guide spent a good part of the tour counting heads and moving us along threw the thousands of Vatican tourists, we really had no time to appreciate anything. It was as if Mara was a shepard moving sheep. If I hadnt had my Rick Steve's audio for the Cistine Chapel, we would have gained nothing out of this experience. As it is we only got through half of it until it was time to move along again. I just cannot say how much we were disappointed in this once in a life time experience. My advise, get a skip the line ticket and a self guided tour with head phones and go at your own pace. Coliseum tour..total bust. We could not find the meeting place. We had trouble finding the subway and ended up on a bus that left us a nice walk away. We could not find the meeting place because no one we asked knew what Constintines gate was. By the time someone directed is we were way beyond it and the tour had left. I am hoping they will reimburse us that portion.

Best tour in Italy
Eva was our tour guide for this tour. She is the best tour guide we had during our trip to Rome and Florence. She was an excellent storyteller for the Colosseum and forum. She was funny, serious and engaging. What made her stand apart from others was her ability to keep our group together (about 12 people) in a kind way in a very crowded environment. She made sure we had time to take pictures in ideal locations.

Great tour, local insight
The Colloseum is amazing to visit no matter how you do it, but this tour definitely helped us make the most of our time there. Our guide - Comba - was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of interesting history about not only the Colloseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill but also the areas around them. There was plenty of time for pictures and looking through all the interesting artifacts on the second floor. I also really liked the audio tour format - you didn't need to be right next to your guide to hear all the information and it allowed everyone to be involved. Added bonus, Comba recommended some great restaurants in Rome!

Great tour, small group
We loved that the tour was not a huge busload of people. There were 15 of us so that made it easier to keep up with what was going on. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the Colosseum and going through the Forum and Palatine Hill. There was plenty of time to stop and take photos. It was busy but because the area is so large it was easy to get a bit of space between you and other guests. If you've never been to Rome and you want to see the Colosseum we would recommend this tour!

Colloseum tour
This was an excellent tour with a very well informed guide. We wished we hadn't gone in the middle of the day as it was hot in the sun, and shade was not always available. We were so glad we decided to get access to the arena floor as this gives an excellent perspective on the size of the colosseum. Definitely one of the must see attractions of Rome.

Excellent Tour
This tour was amazing, one of my favorite parts of our trip. The 3 hour tour goes through the Roman Forum and Colosseum with a group of about 15. You will enter the Colosseum through a separate entrance and skip the line. Our tour guide was passionate and enthusiastic. She was an archaeologist working on one of the sites so her knowledge was definitely impressive. The tour was fun, engaging and educational. Be prepared for lots of walking and many steps. Highly recommend!

Great tour and awesome guides
We had a great start to our stay in Rome. We had Barbara for our Vatican tour and she’s a great guide. We had a great time exploring the museum. Unfortunately, the Basilica was closed at the time we were there. The afternoon tour was also special. Our guide Alicia made it fun and she’s an amazing guide. I learned a lot during both tours but not too overwhelming. Great experience in Rome!
