- michellevF7641LL0 contributionsA Remarkable Tour of the Borghese GalleryI had the most incredible experience touring the Borghese Gallery, all thanks to Federico! His storytelling brought the masterpieces to life, weaving the historical context with fascinating anecdotes about artists like Bernini, Caravaggio, and Raphael. Federico's insights helped me appreciate the art. The pacing of the tour was perfect—enough time to admire each piece without feeling rushed. Federico also went out of his way to answer all of our questions, making the experience feel personal and engaging.Written January 22, 2025

- KTMMcd0 contributionsTour Cancelled! Was in Milan for 1 day and thrilled to get a ticket for the Last Supper. Sadly, the local tour company cancelled my ticket just hours before the tour-still unclear if the reason….a glitch in the system that allowed the tour to be over sold or there was no tour guide avail able. They were polite and apologetic. Offered a tour for the following day but I was not going to be there! I received a full refund after contacting Trip Advisor.Written January 21, 2025
- Ciaragriff0 contributionsTerrible tour companyI bought a ticket for my dad for this tour on a Thursday evening for the Friday afternoon. The following morning I got an email that the sistine chapel was closed. Crown tours would not change my tour to the Monday so that he could visit the sistine chapel as they said it was within 24 hours even though it was only just booked. The tour was then really drawn out in order to make up the 2.5/3 hours, I believe crown tours sold this tour knowing full well the chapel would be closed the previous evening. It was also closed the following day as there was work going on in the sistine chapel. Very disappointing.Written January 20, 2025

After booking the tour the night before through get your guide, we got a call from crown tours asking if we would like a free upgrade to the colosseum underground! We were very excited and when we arrived we were the only ones for that day on the tour! So a free private tour basically.
Mircea was fantastic- he was full of knowledge and made us feel very welcome. We loved being able to have our questions answered so easily with someone obviously very passionate about Ancient Rome. It was very well organised and he even arranged for us to have extra time in the colosseum before the next part of the tour began.
We then met Bruce who was approachable, friendly and led an excellent tour of the Roman Forum. It was almost as if we were talking to a friend.
I would %100 recommend this tour to others. We had a perfect first day in Rome and are so glad we booked this tour. The guides were efficient, knowledgeable and organised and I wish we had the money/ time to do more tours with them!

I can not recommend both the tour company and the guides highly enough!! A truly excellent experience!
I booked this experience on the get tour guide app before we arrived in Rome.
The communication throughout was superb. Sara contacted me through WhatsApp to ensure I knew exactly where the meeting point was and made us feel very welcome once there. We toured in a small group of 9. Our guide Lumi was incredibly friendly and knowledgable. We toured the Roman Forum first, with Lumi ensuring we stopped in the shade wherever possible due to the heat. She also ensured we stopped at water fountains to fill up our bottles with fresh cold water. We then toured the colosseum, entering through the Gladiator’s gate and out on to the arena floor. What a spectacular place, the colosseum, and indeed the whole city is! Just beautiful. Unknown to me, my boyfriend was planning to propose during the tour and had explained this to Lumi, who helped get the ring through the metal detectors and very kindly gave us the space required for a quiet proposal (I am not a fan of attention!). The tour was amazing, interesting and informative and you really get a sense of the layers of history in the city.
The next day I received a call from Sara, congratulating us on our engagement and offering us a free personalised tour. Lumi very kindly volunteered to take us on a walking tour of the circo massimo, the orange gardens, the mouth of truth and the secret keyhole. Again, communication was excellent and we met Lumi at Trajan’s column. Lumi was very informative about all the buildings and places of interest on our walk, this included 5th century churches and temples, the city hall and rose gardens. It was an extremely personalised tour and included a stop at a bar for a glass of prosecco to celebrate our engagement and my partner’s birthday. The finale to the tour was the key hole view - which I won’t spoil for anyone planning to visit Rome but is a must. We also learnt that it was Lumi’s birthday too and despite this, she had still volunteered 3 hours of her day for our private tour. Words cannot describe how grateful we are to Lumi, Sara and the Crown Tours team for making our time in Rome truly unforgettable.
Anyone looking to visit Rome and undertake a tour, I cannot recommended this company enough! Fantastic! Thanks again!

We were recommended this tour by friends and it certainly didn’t disappoint! Lumi was our guide for the colosseum and she was just fabulous. Crown tours provide you with an earphone that links to your guide’s microphone which was really useful given how busy the colosseum can be and we could hear at all times. We skipped all of the lines and went straight into the colosseum where Lumi expertly guided us through history. She really brought it to life and also had some pictures of what it would have looked like in the past to aid her. We then did the Roman forum and palatine hill with Bruce who was also excellent. This part of the tour is often overlooked as the colosseum is the main star of the attraction but it is so interesting as well. Bruce is a natural storyteller and his sense of humour really added to the trip. We were in such good hands with both of them and it was one of the highlights of our trip.

The tour was expensive to book, and was advertised for two hours. Not worth the money we paid for an hours tour.
We booked for the below -
Fast priority access to Colosseum
• Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill small group walking tour (maximum 12 participants)
. Yes got priority access security was quick
. Our tour had 19 people on not the maximum of 12 as stated.
The underground access was a small section thought it would of been more. But still have interesting too see
. Roman forum and palatine hill!!! Whilst in the colosseum the tour guide said, there is palatine hill and Roman forum, you can go there tomorrow just keep your ticket.
We where in the colosseum for just over an hour and all the souvenir shops had closed.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable, but felt at times it was all very rushed.
Toilet facilities is practically none, I was in the que and they just turned the lights off and said closed now.
An experience to see but not worth the money

Our guide was a very nice guy and clearly had a lot of knowledge about these areas. But there are several things I didn’t enjoy about his way of conducting the tour. One, his English was not great. I understood about two out of every three words he said and that was with a microphone and earpiece. If that was the only issue I could live with it but it wasn’t. He constantly went off on tangents about things unrelated to what we were on the tour for. He also carried with him a book that showed what the Colleseum looked like back when it was in use. Instead of using the book as a quick illustrator of the point he was making and using it sparingly, we were all standing around him like he was reading us a bedtime story and he would then hold the book up and insist everyone take a look at it. When it became clear some people were bored by this and got on their phones he would make sarcastic comments to those people about them being on their phones. I’m sorry but we are paying YOU for a tour and as a paying customer if I want to be on my phone you should just keep doing your job and maybe take it as a sign that your presentation is not enjoyable. The other issue was length of time the tour took. The tour was advertised as 2-3 hours and we were supposed to see the Colleseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. It took 2 hours just to get through the Colleseum and by the time we walked to Roman Forum we were 2 and a half hours into the tour. He said well you can go off on your own in a little bit and I got the sense we just ran out of time so he was improvising. Like I said earlier it was clear he had a lot of knowledge about the topics but he needs to do a better job of hitting the high points, keeping things moving, and stop just showing us a book that I can buy off Amazon and look at when I’m home and not literally standing inside the Colleseum that I’ve traveled several thousand miles to see.

We’re so glad we did this tour, we learnt so much more than we would’ve done alone as there isn’t much signage at the sites for people who aren’t in a tour group. Our guide Matteo was really lovely and knowledgeable, there were so many parts of the site that he was able to explain the historical importance of and it really brought it alive for us. He also spoke about the links of the sites to modern day Rome, and also spoke to us about the city in general which was great for us as we’ve never been before. We didn’t actually go down into the Roman forum which I thought was included on the trip but that may have been my misunderstanding. We did get a very good view of it from the palatine hill though so I don’t feel like we missed out. Our tour was over three hours so we thought this was great value for money. We would recommend bringing some food on the tour as there isn’t anywhere to buy food at the sites and we didn’t think to bring anything with us! Overall a briliant tour and we’d absolutely recommend to anyone else going to Rome.

My husband, mother and I LOVED the tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Arian (Arjan?) was fabulous and so incredibly knowledgeable. The team at Crown Tours were so helpful and amazingly supportive - I accidentally booked the wrong date (the date prior to our arrival in Rome!) and I thought we were going to miss out. The team at Crown were so helpful - doing everything they could to ensure that we got what we paid for. I recommend booking directly through Crown Tours and definitely NOT through 'Get your Guide' who were ruthless and didn't care that I had made a mistake with the dates and told me it was against their policy to reschedule as I had missed the window to make any changes - even though I had paid $300 AUD, as far as they were concerned they got paid and didn't care that my money was down the drain. Thank goodness for the empathy and kindness of Crown Tours or else my lifelong dream of seeing the Colosseum would never have been fulfilled.

The whole experience was a treat. Our guide, Micha (not sure of spelling, sorry) made the colosseum and especially the forum and the Palatine hill come alive for us. I believe we were one of the first guests since covid. There was a lot of uncertainty and last minute changes due to closures and changes in procedures. However, Sara just rebooked us to make things work for us and Micha took it all in stride without a pause which means we barely registered there might be a problem.
Thank you all for putting all that extra effort into making our two days in Rome an absolute delight.

20 minute delay before tour started.
Guide seemed pre-occupied and not entirely with us. Several further delays then 2 more people joined group, maybe 30 minutes late.
Several stops in Colosseum behind pillars without much to look at.
Guide changed for Palatine and definite improvement, but damage already done.
With hindsight would have picked different tour or no tour at all, and looked on own.

Is it a self guided tour or guided for all three sites? Donalnt ours start at the colosseum or end there?
Written August 6, 2024
Does the tour include transport between attractions or do you walk from site to site?
Written October 2, 2023
You walk from site to site. It's a good amount of walking, including stairs. There is an elevator at the Colosseum, but not at the other sites.
Written October 3, 2023
Why does the itinerary NOT list "admission included" for the Colosseum, but it does for the other attractions? See: 1 Colosseum, Stop: 90 minutes - ???? / 2
Roman Forum, Stop: 45 minutes - Admission included / 3
Palatine Hill, Stop: 45 minutes - Admission included.
Is Colosseum w/Arena admission included?
Written August 22, 2023
Admission was included for all the venue areas ie including colosseum. Our guide just sorted every thing and at the end of the tour of the colosseum we were able to stay and explore at our leisure
