    Glitches
The voucher issued to us by Through Eternity Tours listed the wrong start time (a “glitch,” they said), so we missed the tour. The company, apparently based in Connecticut according to our payment receipt months earlier, cited “international transaction processes” for the delay in issuing a credit card refund. Because of the voucher error and refund delay, we don’t have enough confidence in this company to use them again.

Wonderful experience with a knowledgeable guide
Our tour guide, Eugenia, did an excellent job! She is extremely knowledgeable and explained things very clearly. The group was small, which made it easy to hear the guide and see what she was explaining. Overall, we had a great experience and learned so much more than if we had gone on our own!

    Palatine hill was amazing!
Guia was just lovely. She was so informative, trying to make history come alive for us, showing us what palatine hill would have looked like in its day. It was a pleasure to stroll along with her and absorbed all of the history of this wonderful place. She kept a perfect pace while letting us take many many pictures of all that surrounded us. She told us things that interested and pertained to all in our group. Thank you for the highlight of our time in Rome.

    Could have been better.
Amazing place. Tour guide was a nice guy who was very knowledgeable but his English was heavily accented and he searched for words frequently, making his explanations quite hard to follow. My 16 and 20 year-old children tuned out completely. We also would have benefited from a more robust description up front of the overall complex and how everything related to one another. If that was included I totally missed it. The beginning of the tour was especially hard to understand because we were standing where there was a lot of traffic noise. The listening device was an over-the-ear type vs an earbud, which I think would have been better. We had a group of 8 people, which was a good size.

Great experience touring the sites on the Palatine Hill
We loved our tour on the Palatine Hill, Villa Augustus, and Villa Livia with our guide Claudia Giustizieri. She has great knowledge of Roman history and architecture. What stood out the most was her ability to answer all of our in-depth questions with clarity and expertise. Since we visited the Forum and Palatine hill before, she adapted the tour to our interests, ensuring that every moment felt personal and engaging. We highly recommand this tour.

    Great guide
I was visiting Rome solo and booked this tour to better understand the history of the city's most famous sites. Gracelyn was a fantastic guide– super knowledgeable and fun. Couldn't recommend her tours more.

Phenomenal tour of the Forum’s hidden treasures
First want to mention that we booked 2 private tours with Through Eternity during an 8-day stay in Rome, and found them extremely professional and responsive. We had originally booked this tour for a Tuesday, but the company reached out to let us know that two of the sites we wanted to see would be closed that Tuesday, and offered to change the date. We were so appreciative that they brought this to our attention and glad we changed the date to a Friday, when all the sites we wanted would be open. So the tour itself was simply a jaw-dropping experience. I had visited the Roman forum previously but never with a private guide, and never with access to some of the newly-designated S.U.P.E.R. sites. I booked this private torch because I was with my 75-year-old mother, who loves learning as she travels but has some mobility issues and wound have had a hard time keeping up with a large group, It was a different experience entirely than trying to navigate the basic-entry sites among the crowds. The highlights without a doubt were the sites we never could have seen without the special access tickets: the houses of Augustus and Livia and the church of Santa Maria in Antiqua. The three of us were literally the only people in the House of Augustus- the actual residence of Rome’s first emperor, with astonishingly well-preserved wall frescos and mosaic floors, and with the overall house layout still evident. There was a small group in the House of Livia (his wife) because entries are timed to allow for a narrated light show highlighting specific elements in the wall frescos - but still, there were maybe a dozen people in there, and we could easily walk around and take photos and get as close as we liked without being jostled by crowds. Santa Maria Antiqua was also fascinating and sparsely visited- all a complete contrast to the general forum area, which was full of umbrella-led tour groups and selfie sticks. Nevertheless, our guide Lorenzo pointed out hidden treasures within the forum that we never would have noticed or understood, such as small groups of holes on the marble steps that were used for some type of game or gambling, and the underground area where gladiators armed themselves before the Colosseum was built. Our guide Lorenzo was excellent - highly knowledgeable, professional, and very flexible and accommodating with our pace and interests. He has a degree in art history and helped us appreciate some of the incredible artistic techniques in the wall frescos. He also took extra time to point out sites we were curious about that were not on the tour and was very kind in helping my mother navigate some of the steeper and more uneven stairs. It was truly an exclusive and fascinating experience and well worth the extra cost. Gracie Mille Lorenzo!

    Top day
We had a brilliant afternoon with Through eternity. The experience was amazing. Enrica, our guide was so knowledgeable and funny, meaning we gained some valuable insight into the history while also having a laugh, which made the day even better. We absolutely loved it would thoroughly recommend.

    Guided by a Lifelong Roman
We very much appreciated the fact that we were guided by a very knowledgeable and friendly person who group up and still live a stones throw from Castel Sant'Angelo. What a wonderful tour. Thank you TE Tours.

    Very disappointing ending
Guide was terrific but the ending was horrible. Not being able to access the shortcut into St Peter’s was the reason. I have difficulty walking long distances and specifically chose this trip to shorten the walking. There were certainly others in our small group who were upset by the change. I know that is out of your control but you could offer a refund to those of us who felt shortchanged.

    Guide Makes a Difference!
My husband and I really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Claudia, was soooo knowledgeable about basically everything Rome. It was very helpful to understand the stories behind the ruins so you understood what you were looking at. I think you miss a lot without a guide. And of course the colosseum is just spectacular. Again, Claudia shared so many stories with us about the construction, the events at the Colosseum, how the underground worked with the lifts and pulleys and gladiators of course! The time flew by. I think we could have listened to Claudia’s for hours more!

10 out of 10 private Pompeii tour
Monica was a fantastic guide! This was our favorite experience while in Italy. Monica took time to share her knowledge of every question my husband asked (and he asked alot!) She also made several recommendations of documentaries for my husband to learn more. We initially asked for 1030am start but Monica suggested earlier and it made a huge difference as we were the only ones around for the first 1.5 hrs!

Another gem of a tour at a much lower cost from Through Eternity Tours, but you get a bang for the buck! We had a local history teacher as a guide (unfortunately, I forgot his name), and from the moment he started the tour at Piazza Navona till the end at Piazza di Spagna, the tour was filled with a wealth of information. Along the way, we learned about everything from normal history to water management in the Roman era.

We recommend searching first for tours organized by Through Eternity Tours because we did two other private tours from them, and all were excellent (albeit the other two cost a lot more, but worth every penny).

We arrived for our tour and were happily surprised that our family of 4 would be receiving a private tour for the evening. We were delighted to be shown around Rome by Brandon, who had a degree in art or Renaissance history (my apologies I can’t remember exactly what his area of expertise was in). He showed us around the city, explained the sights to us and gave us some helpful advice on where to get coffee and other items. We felt at ease with him and felt like we got the insiders guide to the city. I especially appreciated being able to ask him anything and he knew the answer to everything and even indulged my crazy questions about the pantheon since I had been reading a book about the building. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone. What a great evening with Brandon!

Of the four tours we took in Rome, this one was our favorite. Brandon was great - he was very personable and really showed us some unique an interesting things that he has found in the years he has lived in Rome. Our rave review is for Brandon, but perhaps not this specific tour. Since we were the only two on the tour, Brandon didn’t follow the normal route/agenda, instead he tailored it to us, avoiding the things we had already seen and done. He made it his mission to show us things we had not yet seen, and he succeeded! More points for Brandon!

Our evening tour with Through Eternity Tours on April 22, 2024 for Rome at Twilight was recommended by friends. We scheduled and paid for the tour on March 25, 2024. Unfortunately, the tour was quite disappointing. The guide, Lorenzo, rushed us through many of the sites, especially the Trevi Fountain. We spend less than 5 minutes at the fountain, barely enough time to take photos. We saw the Spanish Steps from a distance, not even close. There was no discussion on the history of the steps. He gave a decent description inside the Pantheon, but did not even mention the Egyptian Obelisk outside. He walked so fast and most of our group was in their 70's and he took no time to adjust for us. He did not stop for a bathroom break anywhere and when we were done, had no connections for us to find a bathroom. I would have given it a rating of 1, except we did see some interesting sights, abiet too quickly.

What a disappointment and a waste of money! We took the tour on August 11, 2024, and it was a letdown. The tour guide was unprofessional and appeared to lack knowledge. Instead of providing a guided tour of the Pantheon, she just handed us tickets and claimed that talking wasn't allowed inside. She then led us through the streets without offering any explanations about the history or significance of the sites. In contrast, our tour of the Vatican City with Through Eternity Tours was excellent. Sadly, this one fell far short of expectations !!!

We really enjoyed this walking tour of Rome. We visited many popular sites such as the Piazza Navona Bellini Fountains and the Trevi Fountain but enjoyed so much more of the architecture of the area. He explained the sculptures in great detail, like an art historian. He also pointed out interesting aspects of the city’s architecture every step of the way. For some this might be too much but I’ve been to Rome 3 times and saw things I never had before including an aqueduct in the city, imagery from the days of the Medici family. We ended at the Spanish Steps and climbed to the top for sunset. It was a perfect way to round out a visit to Rome.

Our guide John Tinto was an encyclopedia of knowledge about Rome, Italy and the history of both. We covered a lot of ground physically and historically during our @ 3 hour late afternoon-early evening tour. We covered (and entered) the squares, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, churches, etc, etc. John had an itinerary for us but also allowed us flexibility to decide what was important to us and suggested minor itinerary changes to enhance the tour. Great tour!

Our guide was articulate in English and knowledgeable. He walked at a leisurely pace to accommodate my wife’s limitations. He showed us interesting locations, and provided historical links between them, which we had not encountered in four prior trips to Rome. This was all excellent.
However, at the end of the tour he gave a vague wave of his hand toward the far end of the Piazza and said “you can get a cab there”. In the five seconds it took me to spy out the cab stand, he had vanished. No cabs ever stopped in this poorly lit location in over 40 minutes, forcing us to walk blocks into an adjacent busy street and run down a cab that happened to be letting off other passengers. The worry and frustration this caused spoiled the tour.
