What to Expect
Meet your guide at the tour office in Via del Colosseo, 24. From here, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of some of the most well-preserved parts of the Colosseum.
Learn how the Romans built such a colossal monument while skipping the long lines to step inside the largest amphitheater ever built. Your guide will recount stories of epic battles between gladiators and wild beasts while giving you behind-the-scenes access to Colosseum sights.
This tour offers exclusive access to the underground areas where you'll explore the tunnels and rooms where gladiators prepared for battle before stepping out onto the arena floor where the mighty gladiators once stood.
You'll also get the opportunity to explore the Palatine Hill area, which boasts great photo opportunities, and you'll see the Roman Forum too.
Underground tours of Rome’s Colosseum are among the most popular tours in Rome and often fill up, so book early to avoid disappointment.

FYI: even if you have early access to the Vatican, there may be delays based on priorities of charter groups and such. That depends on which company your Vatican tour is scheduled. A tour to the Coliseum may be booked later in the afternoon, or evening, again depending on which company you choose. Make sure if you walk up to the Palantine Hill. There are some great treasures there, plus a wonderful view of the Forum. Afte walking through the Forum, visit Vittorio Emanuele II and go to the top of the building for an outstanding view of Rome.

The guide stayed with us apart from 10 minutes at the end of the Coliseum tour and before the Palatine Hill tour. It was supposed to be 30 minutes but our guide was so thorough and interesting that we ran over time!
