What to expect
Start your 'Rome in Day' tour with the city's most famous ancient monument – the Colosseum. Walk through the interior and try to imagine the gladiator battles that took place there. Visit the nearby Roman Forum to see the Temple of Saturn, House of the Vestal Virgins and the Arch of Titus among other things. Go from ancient Roman monuments to modern ones with a stop at the Vittoriano on Piazza Venezia. Throw a coin into the water when you reach the Trevi Fountain to ensure your return to Rome. Stop for lunch (own expense) at one of the restaurants in the area before heading on to the Government District. See the Palace of the Council of Ministers, the Parliament and the Column of Marcus Aurelius. See the Temple of Hadrian on your way to the Pantheon, where you'll see tombs of Italian kings as well as the artist Raphael. Continue on to the Ancient Baths of Nero and then to Piazza Navona to see Bernini's famous fountain in its center. Visit the Vatican as your final stop. See the highlights in the enormous Vatican Museums, including the Raphael Rooms and Michelangelo's frescoes in the Sistine Chapel.

Because of the growing popularity of the current pope Francis and his intense activity in organising mass events in the Vatican some areas might get closed last minute without previous notice. This has already happened this year and can happen again during your Vatican tour: the Sistine chapel and/or the Basilica of Saint Peter might not be accessible. In case of such events our tour guide will provide you with a valuable alternative focusing the tour inside the Vatican museums.
This is a private tour/activity. Only your group will participate

Comprehensive with excellent guide, weak value for money
Jan 2020
Firstly - just in case other people get confused like I did - This tour includes the entrance tickets and a guide who walks through the sites but does not include any transport. Most of the tour is done by walking (a lot of the landmarks are close together) but you make your own way to the start and in between the two main venues. There are a dizzying array of tours on tripadvisor, some others only have a driver who waits in car but not a tour guide, some with both, so be careful which one you are buying.

The guide, Francesco, was excellent; knowledgeable, patient, and tailored the tour to our tastes. He made an effort to spend time with each of the tour party and was personable. We had a couple of young children who could well have made things difficult but he managed to keep them focused as well!

The tour is thorough, it is quite a long day and I expect normally people take two separate half day tours to cover the same content.

I think the margins the middlemen make are large - booking this I believe means the actual tour company gets about 70%, so essentially that is what you are overpaying by not buying tickets once you get to Rome (or perhaps choosing an alternative).

Absolutely worth it!!!

Our guide Paola was fun, energetic, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the history of Rome. She gave us insight to its buildings, people, and politics from the Colosseum all the way to the Vatican. When we got back to the states we all talked about how Rome would not have been the same without this tour, especially with Paola. We would have wandered around aimlessly and would have missed so much. I highly recommend this tour and make sure to have Paola as your guide. We loved her!!!
Note: there was not a choice for "Family (adult children and their girlfriends)" so I had to choose "Family (teens)".

The tour was outstanding and we had a wonderful day. My daughter and I were so pleased that we were able to see everything we wanted to see in Rome on that day. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable sharing both current and historical information about Rome. I highly recommend this tour.

With flawless English and charm our guide Angelica brought to life Rome's legacy to the world of government, law, language architecture and religion. This tour is condensed but comprehensive, skips the queues and offers as much or as little detail as you can absorb, depending on how many questions you ask! The tour was a highlight of my holiday.

Great Tour for Cruise Ship passengers!
Unfortunately, we only had one day in Rome (first time visit for all in our party) as it was only a port stop on our cruise. Fortunately, we booked with Raphael Tours and got a small taste of all the major historic sites I wanted to see while in Rome.

Our driver picked our party up at the cruise port and drove us into the city where we met up with our tour guide Massimiliano (drive took about 1 hr from the port). He was very friendly, knowledgable , and passionate about the history of Rome.

He first took us to the Colosseum, then the forum, pantheon, Trevi fountain, multiple city squares, brought us to a delicious restaurant (forgot the name) where I had the best pasta dish ever! After lunch, we took a taxi to the Vatican where we got to go into the Sistine Chapel, St. Peters Basilica and the museums. I was in awe pretty much the entire time we were in the museums and St. Peters Basilica. So much to see with so little time.

Although we didn’t get to spend as much time at each of the sites as I wanted to, Massimiliano did an excellent job cramming as much info about each place as he could with the time allotted.

Please note that this was a walking tour and we needed to keep up with our guide. Did a lot of speed walking that day. It was also very hot with little shade, so bring water to keep u hydrated, and even possibly a portable handheld fan (got mine on amazon).

If you’re looking for a leisurely tour, this is NOT the tour for you. If you want to get the most out of your day by visiting all the major historic sites along with getting a brief history of each place, this is the definitely worth it. We paid 1/2 the price than what the cruise ship tours were offering, saw more places, and had our own personal guide.

Thanks again Massimiliano for a very educational and memorable day!

Wonderful tour. Amazing guide.

Our trip to Rome was enriched by our Rome in a Day tour and especially our guide Massimiliano. We spent the morning visiting all the major sites in Rome. The afternoon was spent at Vatican. What made this day incredibly special was the attention Massimiliano gave to the history of Rome as it relates to the interests of our family. The tour targeted my kids love for Ancient Rome and art. Massimiliano found ways to engage with his rich and deep knowledge of his beautiful city. We stood in the circle where Charlamagne was crowned. We were blessed by a priest in the Sisteen Chapel. We learned about Michaelangelos journey to paint the Sisteen chapel after having been a sculptor for most of his career. So many details. We were blessed by this experience. I highly recommend it.

I had read many reviews prior to picking a tour. I give this tour 5 stars. If you don't have a lot of time in Rome then this is the tour for you. Skip the line is a must for the Vatican and Colosseum. We had an amazing tour guide Giorgia she was very knowledgeable she went at a good pace and she was full of energy we couldn't ask for a better tour guide. Prior to booking this tour I debated if I should book a group tour or a private tour. Private tour is worth the extra money not to mention the amazing tour guide we had,

Learned so much!!
Tommoso was an amazing guide! It was just my husband brother and our guide so it was almost like our own private tour! We learned and saw so much, the Colosseum, Roman forum, Vatican City, Sistine Chapel and all of the history of Rome!
