    Wonderful Vatican by Night Tour
I took the Vatican by Night Tour in August 2023 with my two sons, aged 19 and 22. Laura was our wonderful, knowledgeable tour guide for the evening. The tour was perfectly paced, Laura stopping for extra attention in the pieces we found most interesting. The evening tour was special with fewer crowding and a more enjoyable pace and visit. I highly recommend Joy of Rome and will use them for our next visit!

Awesome Awesome Awesome for the Mythology fan (9yo son)
We did the tour for Ancient Roman/Greek mythology at the Capitoline Museum for my son who is a HUGE fan of the books and mythology. Grace was PHENOMENAL at this tour. My son and her would walk through the halls and talk about the different gods and their connection to the Mythology but also their connection to the current beliefs and their place in the history of the city. They did the questionaire about the Mythology and there was a color page attachment as well which my son did later and loved. It was truly one of the best experiences we had in our long trip to Europe (16 days). I cannot overstate how awesome this tour was. Absolutely fantastic. Don't hesitate to book this.

Fabulous tour for ALL ages, but especially groups with kids
This was an EXCELLENT TOUR...I can't recommend it enough. The Vatical Museums is such a huge place and can be overwhelming if you try to do it on your own, but with this private guide it was an enjoyable and informative tour. It was very busy the day that we were there and the lines to get in were VERY long, so doing the skip the line entry really helped to keep all of us from melting down. Our fantastic guide had nice books and visual aids to help our 7 year old son learn more about the Vatican museums and the Sistine Chapel. She was very patient with all of us and our various ages/interest levels, and we ALL learned a lot and and ALL really enjoyed our guide. The length of the tour was great for all of us to learn a lot, but wasn't so long that we were bored.

Most enjoyable Tour in Rome especially if you have kids!!!
This is our first time ever traveling to Rome which was quite intimidating and overwhelming. Our colosseum tour with Serena was a breath of fresh air! We have four young kids aged 9, 7, 5, and 3 and I was so nervous they would be bored out of their mind. Serena showed up with enthusiasm and I automatically knew we were going to enjoy that tour! She kept the kids engaged and excited to learn more! They ended up saying it was their favorite part of Rome! Serena and this company is a blessing especially when you have kids who need that extra patience and excitement! To make it even better, her English was so easy to understand which is always a worry when you’re out of the country! Also to top it all off, she happily took pictures of us as a family! We will definitely book with them again if/when we visit Rome in the future!

Great family tour of the Vatican!
Our guide Francesca did a wonderful job taking us around the Vatican Museums. She made the tour enjoyable and educational (but just the right amount of educational or our kids (age 9 and 12) most certainly would have complained). We were very happy to have Francesca lead us on the private tour given how crowded the Vatican Museums are; otherwise, it might have felt overwhelming for the kids. We did a few different family-oriented private tours during our trip with other guides and Francesca was definitely the kids' favourite.

Amazing 3 tours in 2 days!
We booked three wonderful tours with Joy of Rome, and Serena was our guide for all three tours including Rome walking tour, Vatican, skip the line tour, and Colosseum tour. She is a wealth of knowledge, super friendly and personable, also flexible with schedule and attentive with all questions. Would highly recommend!

    Capitoline Museum with Arianna
Arianna is everything wonderful about Italy--warm, caring, proud, and very knowledgable about Roman and Italian history. Our tour of the Capitoline museum was the high point of our visit to Rome.

A memorable bucket list trip for my dad
This was my second tour with Joy of Rome and I personally requested Francesca for the second time (we had a family tour of the Vatican and Colosseum with her a year ago)… it was my father’s first trip to Rome and his lifelong dream to see the Colosseum. He asked me to give her 10 stars he loved it so much. Francesca made the tour extra special for him. I can’t thank Joy of Rome enough for making this memory so special for my father.

Wonderful journey for kids to history
This was a wonderful experience with Maria Libera. We had a tour of Colloseum and cant be a better experience. Our kids aged 8 and 10 have enjoyed the journey and listen to Maria with full interest and while leaving with great experience. Tickets/ skip the line was arranged by Maria and we haven’t felt any burden even it was one if the crowded times. The visit is memorable for all of us. Maria is more than a guide, passionate about what she is doing and this pays off by passing her positive energy to the kids. We strongly suggest this experience to the families with kids who are interested in having a journey to the past. Special thanks to Maria.

Amazing tours in Rome with Joy of Rome
Where to start :-) Joy of Rome was an amazing experience for our family. We spent 5 days in Rome and we had 6 different tours with different guides. All of them were spectacular: Serena, Maria Grazia, and Francesca (1 and 2) were extremely knowledgeable, very kind, patient and most of all very funny and entertaining. We could have not been more lucky. We enjoyed our tours but most of all we learned so much. All the guides of Joy of Rome treated us like family and not just clients, because they honestly love what they do. They went above and beyond to teach us and share with us as much as they could about Rome. I would highly recommend this agency to discover this wonderful city. PS: I personally recommend the Musei Capitolini tour. It is a not so well known museum but absolutely magical, full of history and myths. Don't miss it when you are in Rome. :-)

Vatican tour with PhD art historian
Francesca was our guide on the Vatican museums and oh my! She is so wonderful. It felt like a dear friend was walking us through the museum. With her PhD in art history, and particularly her dissertation on the rivalry between Michelangelo and Raphael, she had a unique knowledge set that gave the tour life. We never felt any rush from Francesca, and in fact she told us to take our time in a number of places. She answered all of our questions with enthusiasm. My friend and I had the best time on this tour. Book it and ask for Francesca, you won't regret it!

This tour was one of the highlights of our stay in Rome. Our guide Grace designed the tour for our 9-year old daughter, and she loved the experience! At the same time, our guide answered questions that I had about the art that helped enrich the experience for me too. If I went back to Rome I would certainly book another tour with this company.

We are currently traveling with our two young girls, 3 years and 16 months. We were concerned about trying to visit the Vatican with little ones in tow. Joy of Rome and our guide Alessandra eliminated all of those worries. We met Alex just outside the Vatican entrance and she quickly navigated our family through the ins and outs of the ticketing process. She made it so easy for us by then finding us an elevator access to make taking our stroller easier. While exploring the grounds and galleries, Alex worked to keep our 3 year old engaged. By the end of the tour, the two were holdings hands. Alex even helped us with carrying her when we were busy with the stroller on stairs. I really can't say how thankful we are to have had her with us. For others thinking about bringing a stroller, I would suggest trying to do without it. A small umbrella stroller would be fine, but we had a big double for the two kids. By the way, this was a private tour with just us and the guide. I would highly suggest going this route as its much more personal and individualized. Thanks Alex!!!

We took 3 tours with Rome of Joy.
Arianna showed us the Colosseum. We fell in love with her from the first word. Great knowledge, communication skills, personal attention to each and every question that any of us had.
We took a walking tour of Rome with Nicole. We were afraid that “Arianna “ ( she was our first guide) was not going to happen again, but as soon as we met Nicole we realized that every guide of Rome of Joy is great and unique in their own way. She showed us the main attractions of the city and was brave enough to engage our teenage boys into the history of Rome.
The third tour we took was the tour of Vatican with Grace. She captured our attention from the moment we met until our second goodbye, when she came back to tell us where to see the Swiss Guard. Despite the unexpected closing of the Sistine Chapel for more than an hour she stayed with us till the very end finding the ways to entertain us on her own time.
We cannot thank Arianna, Nicole and Grace enough for the exceptional experience they shared with us.
Absolutely RECOMMEND!!!

Taking a eight year old to Vatican Museum is nice parental ambition and poor reality attachment but aren't we all want them to be bit better than us even if we have no idea how to do it. Well Joy of Rome has this wonderful way to do just that. Thanks to wonderful, well English speaking and amazingly well educated guide name Francesca my son turn his attention away from electronic device for entire duration of the tour and actually get interested in history of our lovely western culture. Her way with children is definitely not over advertised specifically after next day's treat of VR on the ancient Rome. We so glad to spend this educational moment on our trip Francesca. Thank you very much. Darek, Kate and Michelangelo.

The intimacy of having a one-on-one guide, Emma, for both the Vatican and the Colosseum was second to none. I highly recommend this tour company and if at all possible ask for Emma. From the beginning they were easy to communicate with and felt secure in dealing with them even if I was half way around the World.

I didn’t think I was much a fan of tours, until my partner and I had these two tours from our amazingly talented guide, Francesca!

She was prompt, courteous, charismatic, animated, loads of fun, and delivered so much information, both the historical facts, but also about the lives of everyday people of the time. The time flew by! Wanted more!

I would highly recommend Francesca’s “The Joy of Rome” for any and all of your Rome tours! Don’t miss this!!!!!

We toured the Vatican today with Francesca, and she was absolutely outstanding! We had our two young children with us (ages 5 and 8), and she was excellent at engaging them and sharing stories about the artists and the history in a way that was interesting and accessible to them. She also expertly moved us through the throngs of people clogging the museum and gave us the context and positioning we needed to truly enjoy the visit. If you’re visiting the Vatican with kids, this is the way to do it (and ask for Francesca!).
