Fabulous introduction to the food of Rome. Dimitri was our host for the evening and could not have been more charming, fun - and knowledgeable. We did this tour on our very first night in Rome, with a view to going back to some of the places that we were introduced to - it gave us a fantastic steer on the kind of food that was available in off the beaten track locations, or places with an unassuming frontage which were just so special. Dimitri is a historian and clearly loved telling us about the history of his beautiful city - I could not rate this tour highly enough and thoroughly recommend it.

We took two tour from the Roman Guy. The first one was the catacombs tour with Fiona. First, we loved our guide Fiona and took the food tour two nights later purposely with her.

The catacombs tour was meant to be a small guided tour and turned out just to be me, my daughter and Fiona. We began in Bernini Piazza and right off the bat, Fiona had a ton of insight into the sculptures around the square and the meanings of the symbols on them—symbols we saw over and over on our own in the rest of Rome. The first stop at the Capuchin Church was awesome with the stacked bones but Fiona was really great in setting up the story so we understood why it is there and what it meant—which takes a good amount of background. Without this, it would be less meaningful.

Later we were off to another church just outside the city with catacombs and again, Fiona explained it all so we had a greater appreciation of what we were seeing. The catacombs are fascinating and after that we saw the original Roman road built in BC with more good information. Both Fiona and the driver were excellent and I would highly recommend this tour and the food tour to anyone—and I have! Definitely worth booking

This was a blast! One of the best tours we did in Rome. Dimitri was high energy, made us laugh and was very informative. We did four stops; the first was meats and cheeses with a chilled red wine, the second was a fried cod which was creamy and delicious, the third was a sit down dinner. We had 2 types of pasta-Amatrician and cacio e pepe. This was the BEST pasta of our entire trip. We finished next door with a delicious gelato. We enjoyed the Trastevere area so much we went back another night for dinner. If you're there walk to the Ponte Sisto bridge to see if you can catch the guy playing guitar and singing. We hung out on the bridge for almost an hour listening to him.

Our guide was very nice and was one of the highlights of the night. The food, however, was not. Two of the three dishes served at the main stop of the evening were inedible. First two stops were fine, nothing remarkable but acceptable. The third stop things went off the rails, our guide got lost, the pasta and veal dishes were so bad that not even the tour guide ate them and for some reason they didn’t offer any beverages at that stop. The final gelato was ok but nothing secret or hidden about it. I typically don’t want to post something negative had read the reviews and recommended this to friends based on the reviews and felt terrible that one of their few nights in Rome was wasted on subpar food.

What an amazing evening in Rome filled with learning, eating, and meeting wonderful new people from around the world. Dimitri was a perfect host leading us from restaurant to restaurant, introducing us to different tastes of Rome (with awesome local wine pairings) and sharing interesting archeological tidbits along the way. The choice of restaurant for our main meal (Trattoria Casa Mia In Trastevere) was authentic and delicious with great service. Great laughs too - a perfect evening topped with gelato before saying our goodbyes. Definitely an experience that we’ll never forget.

So happy we booked this tour! The amount of restaurant options in Rome can be overwhelming, so it was great to have someone show us some guaranteed quality spots. Our guide Dimitri was hilarious and made everyone feel welcome and taken care of right from the start. We went to four stops and had lots of delicious food and wine (other beverages are also provided if you don’t drink). Can’t say enough good things - book it!

A brilliantly organised trip. The guide Michele was dual Italian/USA national living in Rome, so was deep rooted in the local life. Took us to some fantastic roman eateries and produce shops. He was fully of legitimate information right down to how to pour a glass of wine without offending anyone. Great and thank you. Helen & Martin

Dimitri is the best! We had an amazing time! My girlfriend and I booked this tour for our last day in Rome and it was a great send off! Our tour guide, Dimitri, not only had a great personality but was very knowledgeable on all that the city and its history had to offer. He was humerous and shared a lot of information we were able to take home and share with family and friends. He tied in history, food, and culture - this experience was more than just food tasting. I can’t explain in enough words how great this tour was and I recommend it to anyone!

We often take food tours in any city we are visiting and this one did not disappoint! The guide Dimitri was knowledgeable and fun, and the restaurant selections were excellent - in fact we went back for a pasta lunch before leaving Rome. The other people on the tour were lovely and we had some really great conversation. It was a wonderful way to spend an evening and taste some delicious food - and wine!

We had a great time on this tour. Our guide was Dmitri who was outstanding as a host. He introduced us to several places we would not have even considered on our own. We started with a salami/cheese/wine course at a small sausage maker. We then went to a fried fish place which had some crispy and tasty fried cod. Following this we walked to the Trastavere district and found a restaurant with some typical Roman dishes - cacio e pepe, saltimbocca, and pasta amatriciania. This was then completed with gelato at a place with some of the more interesting and unique gelato flavors I have every seen. My wife got a blue cheese gelato that was outstanding. Booking was easy, the instructions were good to meet the host, and the host was great. Highly recommend.
