My wife and I do not normally do guided tours but we had been warned that queues into the museum and church would be very long and that the pre-booked tours get early and priority access inside. With that in mind we decided that the best use of our time in Rome was to book tours, but I have to admit, I’m a changed man now, we’ll be booking many more tours on our future travels.

Our tour guide, Burcu, was incredible, she was very friendly and approachable as well as clearly passionate and knowledgeable about the museum and its vast collection and seemed like she could continue talking for days without ever repeating herself!

The scale of everything beggars belief and truly needs to be seen to be believed. We were told that, theoretically, if you looked at each item in the museum for just 30 seconds for a whole month, you would only see about 10% of the entire collection. The range of the objects and artwork on display is quite surprising too. You obviously expect a lot of Christian history but they also have a lot of the original ancient Roman statues, mosaics and artworks as well as stuff from ancient Egypt and even more contemporary artworks as well.
St Peters Basilica (the church) is truly enormous and so intricately decorated you could spend hours there and continue to discover new things.

When you arrive at the meeting place (a café around the corner from Vatican) you are divided up into groups, assigned a guide and then all given little radios with headphones. These were great, we had no technical issues with them at all and they allowed you to freely look around and take photos as you wanted, even when you’re in more crowded areas you do not have to worry too much about being separated as you can always hear your guide well. You have to change radios a couple of times as the museum and church both use their own specific sets, but it’s a fairly quick and painless process.

The museum is still quite busy even when it’s just tour groups but you have room to breathe and (mostly) freely wander around the exhibits to take photos. By the time we reached the basilica the general public had started entering and so was quite busy, but its so big and open it wasn’t too bad.

It was an amazing tour, and Faby was the best tour guide to have. She helped navigate with Vatican security and get us to the Sistine chapel with next to no people in it. She then took us around the exhibits and explained much of the highlights in great detail. She was very responsive to questions and extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend this experience to any of my friends, and they would be extremely lucky to get a guide as amazing as Faby.

Later in the day, we saw Faby at Castel Sant’Angelo, she came to say hello and helped us find where to buy tickets without a reservation. She truly is amazing.

The tour was lovely and informative. Our guide, Laura S., was wonderful, not only because she was knowledgeable but also because she was hospitable and kind throughout the tour of the Vatican museums and St. Peter's Basilica. It was supposed to be a 3 hour early access tour but ended up at 4 due to delays, but we truly didn't mind. Laura was a brisk guide to the extent permitted by the Vatican's own rules due to Covid restrictions, so we never felt like our time was being wasted in a queue. She was great!

The only 2 things to be aware of: First, we were unsure when the actual start time of the tour was because The Roman Guy's webpage stated 7:30 AM for the tour, but our voucher stated 8:30 AM. We got there an hour too early because it wasn't clear which one was correct. The voucher is correct. Check your email!

Second, bring a full bottle of water with you. There is a lot of walking and not so many opportunities to quench your thirst. On a hot summer day, you're going to need it!

Our guide was 30 minutes late meeting our group. There is a tour that also includes the Dome, and folks in that tour start at the dome and then meet up with the rest of the group to continue with the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and basilica. I don’t know why that first part of the tour was so far behind, and I’m sure he felt terrible, but that should have been timed better if there are more people waiting to join in. This tourist site is of course VERY crowded; where the Colosseum and Pompeii tours we did (with other companies) had room to breathe between different tour groups, you are packed like sardines for the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. So much so, that you cannot hear your guide even with earphones in. Our guide was soft spoken and also struggled with his microphone and the earphones cut out to static frequently. We couldn’t hear much of the tour and it was pretty rushed since we were late getting started and there were so many groups touring at a time. My husband and I agreed that an audio tour probably would have been better so we could take our time where we wanted and move along elsewhere, and hopefully been able to hear more than static.

Even with COVID restrictions this tour was amazing. Our second time in the museum, Sistine Chapel and St.Peters and our guide, Cristiana Ventura, was very detailed and through showing us things we didn't see on previous tours. Have to admit having the Sistine Chapel to ourselves, basically, was really exciting.

Our tour guide ‘Marzia’ made sure that we enjoyed every moment inside the vatican museum and sistine chapel.
She was really knowledgeable, fun and a good storyteller that will stimulate your imagination. Also, you can really feel how passionate she was when she’s telling us the history of the Vatican Museum.
We’d definitely repeat this experience over and over again whenever we’ll visit Rome.

We'd rate this one of the lower of the 10+ tours we've done around Europe. Got into all the sites, but despite it being the second week of January it was packed with hundreds in the Sistine Chapel. Raffy, our tour guide, tried hard, but between the sound equipment and her accent, She seemed to have lesser command of the topic areas than our tourguide by the same company the next day at the Colosseum, who was excellent. I had trouble following her commentary and several other members were very lost. You do get in and around much more quickly, so the entrance worked. We got to all the sites.

This was the best tour for seeing the Vatican. Our tour guide, Jovanni was a delight! His passion for the subject matter, mixed with his fun personality made for an awesome day! The tour was 3.5 hours, but due to how busy it was, we went closer to 4 hours. I appreciated that Jovanni didn't want to cut the tour short and rush our experience. He made sure we say everything. The best part was how easy it was to enter before the crowds; although you ultimately experience them anyway. I don't typically love lengthy tours, but this was a 10/10 experience... I would book again in a heartbeat! Thanks, Jovanni!

We did not get to see St. Peter's Basilica due to a 'surprise' visit by the Pope. Pretended it was a surprise at 10:00. But it wasn't. On a Colliseum tour earlier that week some people we met said their tour operator would not offer tickets until 1:00 due to a planned papal activity. We walked around the same space A LOT to take up the tour time. The guide was knowledgeable and we could hear fine. But feel like they knew we would only see the Sistine Chapel well ahead of time.

I will say the time spent in the Sistine Chapel was nice, it was early and was not too crowded.

I would rate this as the lowest tour I have taken with Trip Advisor.
