BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
Oct 2019
I booked 2 people for the Tivoli Day tour for last October. I had to cancel 1 person, due to illness, and notified the company far enough in advance of the tour date that there should be no cancellation penalty. I called the office to confirm that they had received the email cancellation, and also got an email confirmation of the cancellation; both times it was acknowledged that I had cancelled far enough in advance that I would receive a full refund (as they state in their "terms"). When I got home and checked my credit card, I saw that they had NOT processed the cancellation. So multiple emails later, they said that they would process the refund (now almost 2 months later). When I finally got the refund, it was NOT FOR THE FULL AMOUNT. Many emails went back and forth; the company claiming that they had fully refunded what I had paid, but I sent them the tour and payment confirmation, showing the amount paid, as well as a copy of my credit showing what was paid. Multiple attempts to get them to adhere to their stated policy of a FULL REFUND went nowhere--they finally just stopped responding to my messages. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and they don't stand by their stated cancellation policy. I told them that I was going to warned other people about their not honoring their FULL REFUND policy if they didn't refund the additional amount due me. So, they have had months to make this right--and I am now posting that warning.

Also, I was disappointed in the tour. We were spit into vans for the trip to and from Tivoli, so there was no "guide" on board during the ride to give us any information--it was just a transfer. Once we got there, the guide was fine, but again, we were split up on the way back. So, the "guided" part of the tour was only when we walked around, not during the trip to or from. Also, there was too much time spent in the restaurant, while people ordered and paid for desserts--better things we could be doing with that time.

Amazing and memorable day!
This tour was so good! A bright blue sunny day and an interesting group of travellers certainly added to the experience, but it would still have been great regardless. Inger was an excellent guide. Both sites are awesome for different reasons and the amount of time at each was fine. Lunch was better than expected; generous and tasty and with wine included. (Coffees and desserts were extra.)
I probably loved Villa d’Este the most and would love to go back one day, just by train, for a more leisurely wander at the villa and in Tivoli itself, but this tour was informative and a great way to visit for a first-timer to the area.

A great itinerary, excellent guide - Alfredo was both personable and knowledgeable - topped off with a really good lunch (with lots of wine!). Even though it rained while we were visiting the Villa d'Este and some of the water fountains weren't working we still enjoyed the tour there. And the ruins of Hadrian's Villa are fantastic. My wife liked them better than Pompeii as more of the structures have remained intact.

Excellent tour of 2 amazing Villas
Jan 2020 • Family
This tour visited 2 wonderful villas, first Hadrian’s villa which is enormous and although now a ruin it it very impressive and worth seeing, the second villa, Villa D’este is comparatively modern and has very beautiful gardens with hundreds of fountains. The drive is quite short, less than an hour. We were incredibly lucky on this trip because our family of three was joined by only a couple. So there were just five of us and our guide Alfredo and driver. So it was almost like a private tour. Alfredo was a wonderful guide, he mentioned that he had recently won a guide award and we could say with certainty that he deserved it. He was engaging and fun, allowing us to stop to take pictures and helping our 9-year old to understand various things. So glad we picked this day trip!

Fabulous Ruins and Spectacular Gardens & Waterfalls
Nov 2019
Less than an hour's drive from central Rome, a day trip to Tivoli to visit Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este is a wonderful compliment to the spectacular sights in Rome.

The ruins of Hadrian's Villa are remarkable and provide another glimpse into the astounding period and life of the ancient Roman Emperors. Following a lovely lunch including wine, pasta and an entree. The tour continued with a visit to Villa d' Este in the town of Tivoli.

Although the rooms in the Villa are interesting and worth a visit, the outside gardens and waterfalls are spectacular and are the most beautiful of any we have ever seen.

The only reason this tour did not receive five stars is that the tour guide frequently spoke while walking away from the group and could not be heard even though it was a small group of only 7.

Poor Guest Consideration
Nov 2019 • Friends
The tour originates on the back side of the train terminal. While on route to the meeting point, the operater called which concerned me but she was just checking to see if we intended to come. Our group of 9 was split into 2 vans. Our guide Fabio maintained a dialogue but he repeated everything 3-6 times and spoke mostly in generalities so I did not feel like I learned much. Hadrian's s villa was interesting but we really signed up to see Tivoli. Neither the guide not the operator told us in advance that the fountains were off because of the rain stirring up mud in the water It would have been nice to have been offered a chance to reschedule or at least to be prepared for the disappointment. Without the fountains, it is just a green garden with a view. He kept telling us to use our imagination to envision the fountains rhnning. Another guest showed us pictures from a book he had bought. There is a lot of walking but the guide kept the pace slow, especially on the ascent. Lunch was good. Bathrooms were too few and dirty. . I would have liked to know that we were walking from the restaurant to Tivoli as I had left some things in the van. The tour logistics were fine but the it was not a memorable tour. Check the weather before you go
We were ok with rain but not the lack of running fountains.

Tivoli Day Trip from Rome
Sep 2019
Parts of this tour were wonderful. However, they had us stop at a restaurant that I thought was overpriced and we spent way too much time there. The lunch was not included. When we finally got to the Tivoli Gardens, we waited again while some people shopped in the area instead of going into the gardens. By the time we finally made it into the gardens, we had very little time to spend. That was the whole purpose of taking this tour, so I was not happy. By that time it was raining hard. After we went to the music box, we only had 1/2 hour to go down the slippery walk walkway and stairs to the main part of the gardens and fountains, to find and use the restrooms, and to climb back up the hill to the meeting point. They should have given us more time to explore the lower part of the gardens. Instead, we were told that if we were late, we would need to find our own taxi back to Rome and that it would be very expensive. I didn't have time to see what I had come to see, so it was very disappointing. I wish that we had done Tivoli Gardens on our own rather than taking this tour.

Tivoli Day Trip from Rome with Lunch Including Hadrian's Villa and Villa D'Este
After a few days in the very crowded city of Rome, this trip provided a nice change of pace. Our group of around 20 people left for the morning in a few small vans, and headed for Tivoli. Emperor Hadrian's palace is a beautiful UNESCO heritage site, and we toured the grounds with a very informative guide. What was particularly nice was just how few other people were there! After touring the Vatican and St. Peter's and Trevi Fountain the day berore, this was most certainly welcomed. We then returned to our vans and drove to the small town of Tivoli for lunch. We went to a very nice little place called Antica Trattoria del Falcone where we had pasta Amatriciana and Saltimbocca for lunch. Although lunch and wine was included, we paid a few extra dollars and got the best cappuccino and Tira Misu for dessert. It was worth it! After lunch, we then proceeded to Ville D'Este. This amazing Renaissance palace with fountains designed by Bernini is an absolute must see. "Beautiful" doesn't begin to describe it. This trip was one of the highlights of our trip and I highly recommend it.

Dear Sir or Madam, We are very happy that you enjoyed our Tivoli Day Trip. This tour runs with a small group basis, and it is a perfect way to excape the hustle of the city. Both the Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este are wonderfull and absolutely worth of visiting. We have chosen the restaurant for the lunch very carefully, as it offers excellent choise of delicious typical Italian plates. Our tour guides are very professional and informative and it is nice to learn that you enjoyed the tour this much. I hope to see you in the future on one of our tours. Kind regards, Satu Rome Your Way Tours
