    Andrea knew his stuff.
Great pace. Comfortable and really well organized. Radios worked. Meeting easy. Enjoyed it and worth every Euro. The Collesseum part was enough for us.

More rests needed, but learnt so much history
The tour guide was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Unfortunately it was so hot that it became difficult for many to complete the tour. Lots of steps so not for the faint hearted. Perhaps a few more stops would have helped. All that said, was well worth the money and we saw so many different things and learnt so much

Superb from start to finish. Great communication. Knew exactly where to meet and when. Operators and guides super friendly and helpful. Our guide could not have been more knowledgeable and personable. This gets a big thumbs up from me. #ifyouknowyouknow 🤣

    Outstanding tour guide
We booked this private tour because we had a very short visit in Rome and wanted to be able to move about quickly. Martin was our tour guide and he was absolutely amazing! His knowledge was like a college history book. He took the time to get to know us a little and tailored the tour for our interests. I highly recommend this tour and make sure to ask for Martin.

    Grazie mille!
We've done a couple different tours of the Colosseum and this one was great, a bit different. Our guide really give us an interesting perspective about some of the more rudimentary history and elements of life at the Colosseum. I quite enjoyed it for a change of pace. And as others have stated, it was a nice medium length tour. Not too long, not too short.

Tour went smoothly. Colosseum is worth the visit!
I had read the reviews and learned that going to the colosseum on these types of tours could be chaotic. I booked a 9:30am tour, to beat the heat, and glad I did as it was a very hot day (got to 102 by mid day). We made sure to get to the meeting place in advance of the time the instructions said and once there, made sure to just ask around. All the tour guides are busy assembling and they know of the others, so don't assume you are with the correct tour company - ask! Also - the MEETING POINT is a good 15 or so minute walk from the lines your guide has to get you to to make the TOUR time, so that's why it's important to get to the meeting point ahead of schedule so the group can get there on time. Our guide was very informative. The headsets worked fine for us and the skip the line aspect seemed to work fine too. All in all, I went into this tour knowing that it had the potential to be messed up last minute (read some of the other reviews) and yet everything went smoothly for us. Our guide walked us over to the Forum which was nice and then gave us the tickets/vouchers for that. We were on our own for the Forum and Palentine Hill but it was so hot by that point that we did not spend much time there sadly.

Great tour. Very informative and through explanation of the physical structure and the history. Our guide was also able to give the background on the paintings and sculptures.

Excellent guided tour - very informative and well worth it!
It was a bit of a chaotic start as they had closed all the roads for a car race. Anyhow, after finally getting to the meeting point, the guide was excellent and highlighted the important bits of history leading to the creation of the Colosseum. Once inside the Colosseum the guide covered the main areas and the history. After the guided tour, we used the same ticket to enter the Roman Forum as well as Palatine Hill. The views from the top were amazing. Great experience.

    Radio doesn’t work clearly
The biggest problem with the tour was the guide started with mic way to close. She spoke to fast, English being her 2 nd language or ? Language she didn’t speak to a subject ie right here your see, if you look to my right. She and the whole of the tour guides were just walking and talking as if your sitting at a table and she was narrating a video. She seemed to say something about how the gladiators differed from the movie, gladiator a thumbs up thumbs down, and then, in the next moment, explain the situation, as if it was just like the movie .And lastly it was HOT 90 degrees and later in the day it would get to 100 and she was on a mission as we left and had group walk by water and bathroom to the next area before walking up a hill to water.

    Worth it!
Definitely enjoyed the tour. A must do while in Rome. The lines are definitely long. Paying for this skip the line tour was well worth it. The meeting directions were perfect and the tour guide was funny and knowledgeable. She was also considerate and accommodating due to the hot weather and scorching sun. I likely recommend this tour.

First. Don’t be one second late. They prey on it. Because all of sudden they can’t possibly let you connect up with the group of individuals just down the road but they can charge you another 25 euros per person for the site entrance part of your ticket while they happily reschedule the tour. (Window price is 16 euros and kids are free). The tour guides are not professional walked around with a kids book to show you what the colosseum was like back in the day and didn’t even take you downstairs (which is one of the main reasons to get a guide ). Terrible way to spend a holiday.

Dear B144VMmatthewk, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were unable to join your scheduled tour with us. In particular, we are sorry to hear that we could not find a solution that satisfied everyone in this case. We would like to clarify that it is listed clearly in our terms and conditions and in our voucher, that it is the client's responsibility to ensure that they arrive at the meeting point on time for their tour. If the customer misses the tour because he shows up late, it is impossible for him to join his group because there is a specific entrance time and we cannot wait for late customers as the whole group may lose the special skip the line access. We can reschedule a different tour for a rebooking fee. We are dismayed to learn that you did not like the guided tour, as we always do our best to only hire the best expert and engaging guides. We want to clarify that the underground level of the Colosseum is part of a special tour that has very limited availability, and it is never included in the regular tour of the Colosseum. We would be grateful if you could reach out to us by email at info@tourinthecity.com, with your booking reference number, the name of your guide and any other relevant information. We will then follow up with the guide and investigate the issues you have raised. Kind regards, Stefano D.

We booked this trip on 15th February family of 5. We had a great time. Tour lasted around 2 half hours our guide name was Giovanni he was very knowledgeable and any questions we had as a group he would answer. We were fascinated by the detail he gave us and he threw couple jokes in as well. Lot of walking to do so if have any mobility problems not recommended. You get a speaker box so you can plug ear phone in it is really clear to hear what he is saying. He does let you stop to take photos. I would recommend this because few people just walking around not really understanding history behind it. Plus I seen the queues they were long. Were as with this you skip the queue.👏👏👏

We just had this tour today and it is one of the only times I have come home to write a review right away. It was just myself and my partner with our guide, Andrea, and I have to say it was one of the more delightful experiences we've had in Italy. Andrea is an amazing guide, with a wealth of knowledge who really took the time to explain to us every single detail and answer every question we had. It was truly a wonderful experience. He even took a good twenty minutes after the end of the tour to give us restaurant recommendations and drop some other nice pieces of knowledge about Rome. If I come in Rome again, I would like another tour with this guide.

This is by far the highest quality tour we've had and we did a tour in every single city in Italy!

Our guide for the colloseum part of the tour was poor. She hardly knew how to get into the place let alone any real information about it.

The guide for th forum / hill was the opposite. He was a real history buff and the fact just kept on rolling out of his mouth in a highly engaging manner.

The tour guide had amazing knowledge of all three parts of the tour. The colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum were all equally enjoyable. This tour lived up to my expectations although the weather was torrential rain through the tour our guide was professional throughout. I would highly recommend this tour company. I've been to Rome before this holiday but I have learned more this time taking a private tour. Thanks for the experience!

We had an around 3,5 h tour with Lucia - the best tour guide I’ve seen in quite a long tine - charismatic, funny, patient, joyful. She was an icing on the cake in this wonderful place, colosseum and the surroundings are must-sees in Rome.

Highly recommend

The first past of the tour was average, we were taken into the colosseum and taken straight up the stairs and not really given any time to take it in before hearing the information and we had to stay close to the tour guide. It would have been better if she had suggested we have a look around whilst she told us about the history. It wasnt easy to hear the guide either. Two ear phones would have been better.

I was not impressed at all with the second part of the tour of the Roman Forum. The second guide was full of information but did not deliver it well. He jumped from one fact to another in no logical order. Too much information. The tour overran by 30 minutes and by this point I was ready to explore the forum without a guide.

One benefit to this tour was that we skipped the huge lines and got inside the sites quickly. I would recommend a skip the line self guided audio tour though instead of this one. Also they need to come up with a way of recycling the headphones!

This tour was absolutely unbelievable. Our guide was an archaeologists and explained everything very clearly and well and brought the Colosseum in Rome to life we learned that the Forum was the center and the birthplace of Rome. We visited the grounds of the emperors Palace on Palentine hill

She was not only extremely knowledgeable by virtue of her being an archaeologist, but she made the tour entertaining.
She even assisted us in booking tickets for our other event that we wanted to attend which was the board Borghese museum.
It was the highlight of our five day trip to to Rome.

Really enjoyed this tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. Our group totaled 17 plus our tour guide, Richard. It is a walking tour which includes climbing steps and navigating inclines and declines. Our group had one individual who took advantage of the elevator in the Colosseum. Our tour was near the end of Sept 2022, but there are still a lot of tourists in Rome at this time, so the Colosseum is packed. Our guide carried a flag making him easy to find; however, he also regularly counted to ensure the group stayed together. Once the group exits the Colosseum there are more open areas and fewer people as the tour progresses to Palatine Hill and the Forum. There are plenty of opportunities for pictures throughout the tour.

Richard was a great guide and very knowledgeable. He provides a ton of historical facts. His delivery is, at times, (unintentionally) comedic which made our tour quite entertaining and enjoyable. The quality of the tour is oftentimes relative to the guide and the group; and we really enjoyed our guide, our group and this tour.

If you’re on the fence about the tour or think you will get a sufficient experience on your own, just book this tour. You’ll learn a lot while being fascinated by the beauty and the history of the ruins.

What we hoped was going to be a great experience turned into a disaster. We were the 1st to arrive for the mandatory 20 min before 9:30 departure but we didn't leave the spot till 9:30 am. We were moved from the main group and sent to another as our ticket was supposedly different. Once inside the Colosseum we were rushed every step of the way. Had less than 2 mins to see the arena and was kept to the inside hallways looking at the display cases.

We were told that another guide would meet us outside the colosseum around 10:30 or when we are done the colosseum tour to take us to the Roman Forum. At 10:30, we were told we needed to go meet the other tour guide, everyone else was also told the tour was over (literally was less than 30 mins long). By the time we made it out, it was 15 mins later as it was very busy. Called the company and they claimed the guide waited till 10:50 am which was not true, we were out there before that and saw no one.

They said they'd send someone over to take us to the Forum but we'd be on our own or we would need to come back for a 3 pm tour. Went with the first option since we were already there and time was limited. Saw on the ticket sheet that tickets for all 3 sites: Colosseum, Forum and Hill totaled €18 per person. Asked for a refund for the Forum and Hill tour costs considering their mismanagement of the timing caused us to miss the 2nd part of the tour, and only got $10. What a joke!!! Now they aren't even responding to my messages asking for a proper refund considering we had to take ourselves through the next 2 sites.

We've done alot of tours before but this has to be one of the worst experiences we've had. The meeting point person was nice but deeply disappointed with everything afterwards.

You are better off buying direct from the Colosseum site and taking the time you want to see the sites.
