This was an amazing tour! Chef Elisa was so kind and so passionate about cooking. The ride from Rome to the location was beautiful. It was very interesting to go to the different markets to buy the ingredients. The veal saltimbocca was by far the best we have ever had! This cooking lesson far exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun adventure in the countryside of Rome.

My wife and I plus 20-ish daughter and her friend had great time. I'm not a cook so the cooking was novel and interesting, our chef/instructor was very knowledgeable and her assistant so accommodating. The location was just as in the photo, an amazing medieval village with tiny passageways connecting dwellings. Class was in an amazing renovated apartment with views and ambiance that were worth the trip alone. My only suggestion to future travelers would be to hold off on the wine till close to meal time--we were all pretty sleepy by mid-afternoon! Everyone loved this trip.

I have been on cooking tours in Florence, Barcelona, and Lima. All were terrific, but this one is way above those! Reasons: Number of dishes - 4 kinds of thin crust pizza (onions, potato, tomato with fresh mozarella, and porchetta), tagliatelle with mushroom and sausage ragout, gnocchi with freshly made tomato sauce, ravioli filled with ricotta, zucchini, a little mint, with a cream sauce with truffle oil, saltimbocca (veal with prochuitto, sage and cheese), asparagas with pancetta, then chocolate molten cake. And we made it all (8 of us). The setting was a remote Medieval Village with visits to a butcher for veal, deli for pancetta, prochuitto and cheese, and a market for fresh tomatoes, asparagus, mushrooms. the wine flowed the whole time (Red from Tuscany and White from Sardinia). Great group (7 foodies and a husband who baceme one during the day). Some said it was the best meal they have had in Italy. It was that good. I was so full, I did not have dinner that night (other than some gelato). Best of all, oru Chef Alisa (previously owned a restaurant pre-kids) who was funny, highly skilled, and patient. There are other positives, but I will stop here. You get the message! It was my best cooking adventure ever. I have been home three days and ahve already made resh pasta and pizza for the family. Not quite as good, but I will work on it.

We just got back to Rome from our small cooking class in Mazzano Romano and I had to sit down and write a review while everything was as fresh in my mind as the food we prepared! If you have the time to do this tour, please do not pass it up. It is worth every minute and every penny! Our journey got off to a late start, but that’s only because there was some mixups and confusion as to where the other couples were who were to be joining us. As it turns out, one couple was a no show and the other two rescheduled - so it was just my husband and me! Our sous chef, Roy, greeted us warmly, walked us to the van, and quickly whisked us out of Rome toward the countryside. It was about a 45-60 minute ride, but it was beautiful and we chatted easily with Roy who is originally from Sri Lanka. Once we arrived in Mazzano Romano, we met up with our chef, Elisa, and together the four of us began our shopping - first the butcher, then the veggie market, then a short drive to the last market to get cheese near the apartment where we’d be cooking. The walk to the apartment is breathtaking - the thirteenth century town of Mazzano Romano oozes history and everything quintessentially Italian! Once we reached the apartment (a thirteenth-century structure) we entered a renovated-yet-old-world domicile that immediately won our hearts with its original wooden ceilings combined with more modern touches like a chef’s kitchen. We were blown away by its comfort and charm! Immediately, we were poured glasses of wine and began our cooking lessons. I cannot stress enough how well the duo of Elisa and Roy worked together in prepping the food and teaching us the proper methods for making traditional Italian dishes. We made Elisa’s grandmother’s pizza recipe first and then began making the tomato sauce, the stuffing for the ravioli, and the pesto sauce for our three different pasta dishes. In the middle of this, Chef Fabio (the owner of the company, apartment, and the restaurant That’s Amoré in Rome) stopped by and warmly greeted us. While those items cooked or sat, we prepared the veal saltimbocca, the broccoli, and the chocolate lava cakes all while being gently and expertly guided by Elisa. Finally, we made the pasta itself - something I have always wanted to learn and am so glad I did in Italy! We made three different kinds: fettuccine, ravioli, and semolina gnocchi. When these were done, it was then then that we were asked to leave the kitchen while Elisa and Roy pulled all of the dishes together and served us our five courses! To say they were delicious is an understatement- they were divine! Everything was so fresh, so delectable, and quite honestly, so simple. Traditional, time-honored methods of cooking delicious yet rustic Italian dishes. Our bellies AND our hearts were beyond full from this experience! By the time we were finished eating, Elisa and Roy already had the kitchen cleaned up and ready for the next group this evening. Elisa gave us business cards to stop by That’s Amoré in Rome to pick up the grooved wooden boards for rolling the gnocchi, a nice souvenir to take home to Ohio. Then, we said our goodbyes with warm hugs and Roy drove us back to Rome where my husband and I had a traditionally Italian post-meal nap in our hotel. Many, many thanks to Elisa and Roy for a spectacular day and an unforgettable experience we will cherish for years to come!

This was an amazing experience. We've done many similar tours and this was the best by far. Chef Elisa is so talented but more importantly so funny, gracious and kind. We would do this again in a heartbeat. She and her staff were just amazing.

Thank you Elisa!

The best food we had while in Rome was prepared by Chef Elisa, with a little help from my 18 year old grandson and me. We both enjoyed learning to make pasta, and all the dishes on Elisa’s menu. We couldn’t eat all of the food that was served, there was so much, so we brought it home with us. Our driver, Camilla, was so accommodating. She took photos throughout the cooking lesson. (Please remember to send me copies). She’s a great driver, and helped a lot in the kitchen, too! We came home with a certificate, and a surprise gift as well. We highly recommend this tour and cooking class. Oh, did I mention that there was wine flowing throughout? Thank you Elisa and Camilla for a wonderful experience!

Wow, what a day! One of our best in Italy. Elisa and Cornelia were so friendly, so accomodating, and so much fun. I loved being able to make Gluten Free Pizza and Pasta, while the others made ‘normal’ Pizza and Pasta - was an amazing experience and super delicious! Can’t recommend this adventure enough. We made new friends and it was my Birthday too and was just perfect! Thank you.

Do not book this cooking lesson. The ownership and running of the course have changed hands and is now not what is advertised. The proprietor only has a rudimentary knowledge of how to make pasta. You do very little other than spectate in what would be bemusement if it was not for the eye-watering price tag. Everything was rushed, disorganised, and the kitchen was dirty. Who puts dough through a pasta machine once? What was served was glutinous ravioli in a watery sauce saved due to the excellent local ingredients. It is indicative that I have not been sent any recipes. What cooking skills would it detail? Anyone who loves cooking will leave with the feeling that they have been hoodwinked by the erroneous claim to authenticity.
