About
Experience Rome’s romantic side on an evening walk through the heart of the city past illuminated monuments like the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and Spanish Steps. With a guide and small group capped at 15, hear the stories behind the landmarks you’ve seen in movies and enjoy a more peaceful atmosphere without the daytime heat and crowds. Finish in true Italian style with a wine-and-appetizer “aperitivo.”

Highlights
  • Uncover layers of Roman history through a guide’s commentary
  • Enjoy uncrowded squares and cooler temperatures in the evening
  • Includes an Italian-style nightcap at a local wine bar
  • Small-group tour limited to 15 for a more personal experience
What to expect
  • Your night tour of Rome starts at Piazza di Spagna to meet up with your guide, who leads you to the most famous landmarks in the city’s historical center. As you walk, soak up the romantic ambience of the Eternal City lit up in all its glory. Begin with an illuminated view of the Spanish Steps, and then walk over to the elaborate Trevi Fountain, where you can throw a coin in the water to ensure you’ll return to Rome someday, according to legend. Continue to Piazza Colonna, a square that gets its name from the marble Column of Marcus Aurelius, followed by a stop in front of the Pantheon, a stately temple that dates back to 118 AD. Next, visit a local wine bar (also known as an enoteca) to partake in the Italian tradition of an aperitivo, which consists of an evening drink (in this case, you’ll receive a glass of wine) served with classic Italian appetizers such as cheese, bread, olives and cured meats. Then continue your walking tour to Piazza Navona, one of the city’s most popular squares where cafes and bars surround the Bernini-designed baroque fountains. Your tour ends here, where you are perfectly placed to enjoy the rest of your evening out in Rome on your own.

Our guide Pia was grumpy in the beginning but got better as the tour went on. She was knowledgeable but appeared to be somewhat indifferent to the participants’ interest. Seeing Illuminated was a treat nonetheless.

Our guide was Pia and she covered all the bases in terms of the sights we saw. She was extremely knowledgeable and made an effort to have everybody on the tour engage with each other. I felt the tour was well worth my time and money - and how can you go wrong seeing Rome at night!

After spending several days in Rome, we (group of seven) booked a walking tour of Rome, which was one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide, Antonella, was the best. She was so nice and knowledgeable and made the experience so fun it didn’t feel like a tour, more like hanging out with friends. Seeing Rome this way was an unbelievable experience. The aperitivo stop was more than expected and truly a bonus. Thank You Antonella!!! Well done City Wonders; I highly recommend this tour.

Me and my partner decided to do this tour as it was our first time in Rome. We had no idea it would be one of our highlights of the trip.
We had a small group and our guide Angela was the best, She was so nice and knowledgeable and made the experience so fun it didn’t feel like a tour more like we were hanging with friends.
Seeing Rome in this way was an unbelievable experience especially going to a small bar and hanging with our guide Angela and getting some VIP info on the city as well as a cocktail and food.
Well done City Wonders I would definitely recommend this tour.

We had a great time on the tour. Our guide had so much enthusiasm despite the pouring rain. It was the perfect time to see Trevi Fountain because it wasn’t overcrowded. The food and drinks were typical and tasty. I loved that he gave us some recommendations on where to go after the tour and how to get back to the taxi’s.

After spending several days in Rome, we were joined by our family members who only had just a couple days to spend. While my wife and I had visited all of the tour stops previously it was STILL an excellent tour and gave a everyone a great deal of perspective to go with the sights. Our guide, John, was nothing short of excellent. Highly knowledgeable, entertaining and engaging, he offered in depth background on all the stops along the way. His historical information was supported with ipad photos which helped bring the figures from the past to life as he told their tales. The aperitivo stop was more than expected and truly a bonus on the evening. Well done!

We had limited time in Rome, so wanted to make the most of our first evening, and decided to book this tour so as to see some major sites during the twilight hours while most people are getting ready for dinner or a night out.
What a great decision...our guide, Jon, was one of the most learned, personable and engaging tour guides we have ever encountered! Not only do you see some of the top sites in Rome during the cooler evening hours, but you also get insight from a brilliant young man who can give even the most ardent history buff fascinating minutiae that you would otherwise never be privy to - AND, you get to enjoy an appetizer and adult beverage to boot!
Don’t hesitate...book this tour for an end of day Roman extravaganza.
Grazie mille, Jon, for an incredible night!

Traveling solo, just landed in Rome. I decided to take this tour and I scored a very interesting walk throughout some of the most beautiful streets and piazzas, plus a great "aperitivo" which fed me for the entire night. Loved the experience.

We were with Marde on this tour and he was so knowledgeable, a trained architect, he knew everything about the very rich history of Rome in details but also had great conversations about Italian current affairs and politics. The drinks were great and we had great conversation with our fellow travellers. Great way to view Rome efficiently at night if you don’t have so much time. Great value.

TheIlluminated Rome Night Tour with Aperitivo was a nice way to see the sights of Rome during the evening and get better acquainted with the evening lives of Romans. The group was a good size and we had a great stroll while learning a ton about the history. The food was just ok, very basic, but I still felt it was a good value. I enjoyed coming back during the day to see the same sights. It was a nice evening.
